Hi TL admins,
I'm referring to this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=281817 regarding someone's quest to worker rush to farm portraits.

In my opinion, this is very questionable because:
- Portrait farming is a frowned upon activity.
- There is BM in the blog, I feel that TL shouldn't condone BM.
- Ruining other people's fun in bronze.

I agree that this isn't appropriate for the spotlight for a number of reasons. Mango removed it but I'd like to take credit because I saw this topic first.

Although I enjoyed the blog myself (and defended the OP in what he was doing), I was surprised to see it spotlighted, and not shocked to see it un-spotlighted. Not only, as Azzur said, is it a little inappropriate for spotlight (for the reasons listed), but it a lot of people were complaining, and it wasn't going to end well.

I defended the OP in the thread and I'd like to do so again here. I think those that consider him BM/supporting portrait farming are somewhat misreading the blog posts. He reveals his own mistakes, and tells us why he considers them wrong now. Furthermore, we get information that would otherwise not be known to us about low MMR leagues.

On the other hand, it would have been polite to write in the thread for which "number of reasons" he was despotlighted. Someone must have thought him worthy of a spotlight, right? So this backtracking is somewhat dubious. I also doubt whether the reasons for despotlighting would stand the test of public criticism.

I agree. I expressed my opinion on the matter in the blog, but to summarize it's basically that it's a blog about a journey with positive result. Sure the journey might have been harmful to someone at some point (e.g. the BM'd), but in the end the OP corrected his ways.

I wasn't really aware that was the case. I guess it is somewhat shady, but I thought the general opinion was that people play the game for different reasons.

While being spotlighted makes it somewhat different, there is an entire thread on sharing BM where a lot of people post BM they initiate themselves. I thought TL's policy was that actions outside TL are rarely ever enforced on TL.

- Ruining other people's fun in bronze.

I feel like that is somewhat subjective. He shows examples of a lot of angry players, but I don't think it's necessarily the case that they were going to have fun that he just ruined. Also he's explained before that he doesn't save the majority of his replays where he lost and maybe those bronze players had a lot of fun fending off the worker rush.

I agree with this removal. While this is obviously subjective, reading it just made me feel bad. Bad for the guy who wrote it, bad for the people he played against, just bad. Was glad to see it was gone when I came back after lunch. Spotlight is best when it is something that is without a doubt awesome. A thread like that...well, I don't think it is the same. I think the topic is worth a blog, but spotlight is not quite the same thing. Thanks TL.

Ehh, it's one thing not to adhere to PC for the sake of it RebirthOfLeGenD but I can see how that would actually make a lot of new players turned off by TL. Best to enjoy and not accept the behavior for everyone on the website by displaying it on front page.

It's spotlighted again, what has changed now? It's still a blog about tanking ones rating to play in Bronze which is a bannable offense for blizz, and it's still about making fun about bad players. I think a lot of new players come here to get better, not to be made fun of.

I remember Hot_Bids BOSS cannon rush guide being featured and I don't see how that is any better than worker rushing hahah.
But all in all both were fun blogs and nothing to take too serious.Don't see what the fuss is all about.

The difference is, this guy is not writing a guide, he's making fun of newbies. But since it has pictures in it it's "well written" so it seems like that is cool now.
