Game 1 : oov(t) vs Jju(z) on Raid Assault 2
Jju, facing the horror of 3 SK T1 members in his group (Kingdom, GoRush, oov) promised to beat all of them. He started out with more of a lucky win vs GoRush and now looks to close the deal versus the always scary oov.
Oov(@6) opens with a fast rax in his natural for some bunker pressure. JJu, who expanded first, is great with 2 drones and stalls the bunker untill lings can defend the expansion. Oov falls back and continues his teching, already has a factory ready and quickly jumps to wraiths - all while building a small m&m force and wraiths.
The action starts when Jju, now running 3 hatch and both lurker and spire tech, finds that oov placed his m&ms above the zerg natural. Jju pushes out with a small lurker/ling group and eliminates oov's few marines. Oov is forced to react with his wraiths, losing the surprise factor.
Things does'nt look so shabby for our terran tho, he shows class A wraith harass and picks off overlords, drones, muta and scourge all around the zerg bases. If he can keep this up Jju will die from the extreme harass alone. Jju seems utterly lost, but then out of nowhere comes a queen and ensnares ALL the cloaked wraiths! Pure brilliance! The green goo rendered the wraiths useless victims to Jju's air force, and oov went from great to broke in a split second.
Jju, moving in for the kill, sends his entire muta/ling army into the terran territory and oov's few infantry can not hold the this flood of zerg units. Oov managed to stop them at his ramp, but only a split second before Jju arrives with new lurkers and more lings. Oov gives up.
Jju 1-0 oov
Game 2 : oov(t) vs Jju(z) on Rush Hour
Jju(@3) is surprisingly up 1-0 after beating oov with a single queen, and looks to close the deal here with a classic aproach to ZvT - expand then pool and gas. Oov(@7) hides a single scv down in Jju's base, but takes the time to go 2 rax and gas in his base first. Gets that proxy rax building when his academy is ready. A single lord almost spots the play, but for some reason stops before seeing the rax. Cheater terran!
Once oov has 3 firebats and a medic he moves out, taking down the entire zerg main and limiting himself Jju to only his expansion. Also move out a small m&m group from his main to apply some pressure. Jju's light is dying out, but he has one more chance. Two lurkers and a small number of lings find their way to oov's base, and with the lack of medics there take down the defending infantry - oov was clearly busy other places and not controlling his units. Jju goes deep into the terran main and manages to take down the comsat station, leaving oov without detection. Oov, seing his glorious victory turned into a humiliating loss, goes all-in on the zerg expansion, but in a mass of lings, drones and sunken defense oov goes down.
Jju 2-0 oov
Game 3 : He(aka "Boxer") (t) vs Chojja(z) on Requiem
From now on I'll name the Boxer "he". Further explanation can be found here :o Requiem is probably the most exciting map for a CHojja/Boxer match, since both have a very similar style of solid defense strong micro play.
Chojja(@6) opens the more standard 9 expand 9 pool then overlord build, while He opens early rax and loses even more respect. Brings a mass of scv with his first marines. Also chewing gum like a madman - new trend among progamers? He manages to get a bunker done, but only get a single marine in before Chojja ends the cheese with lings and drones.
He falls back to his base and walls in while going acad and factory. Chojja, playing on his advantage, expands to 9 while going lair and spire. Sunkens up that expansion heavily. He looks relaxed, probably because of history - the stats are horribly tilted in his favor. Chojja is unable to do damage with his first muta, and He goes heavy turrets while pushing the zerg natural with siege tanks and a sizeable m&m force. Looks convincing for the emperor, who takes it slow and pushes on the zerg natural while reinforcing and adding turrets to his push.
CHojja tries hard to cut off reinforcements, but He does a great job of running weird patterns and avoiding the growing muta flock. The zerg natural is finally destroyed, and He continues into Chojja's main. Chojja, who is now at hive level, finally reaches critical mass with his mutas and takes out the strong army of He. Fortunately he still holds the 9 expansion, getting tons of gas. He spotted the hive and got a pair of starports for air support - all still off one base. Also scanned the 9 base, but a group of m&m is unable to hold the masses of mutalisks roaming the skies.
Chojja even tries a head on assault on the terran main, but loses most of his army and is now retaking his natural to have a chance. He is in trouble, feeling the known problems terran has with expanding on this map. Now switching to valkyries to counter the strong air force of Chojja while also moving out another strong m&m group and taking down the zerg natural again.
Things looks grim for Chojja, as a mass of m&m are moving into the zerg main, going for the greater spire. But Chojja surprises everyone with a great muta/drone combo taking down the entire group. Chojja now going offensive with his scary muta group, while also secretly making a pair of guardians. He is feeling the heat and is forced to float his command center to stay in the game. But Chojja's new guardians ends mining and He makes an all-out run for the 9 expansion. Chojja sunkens up heavily while bringing his muta flock in for the kill. As the marines are killed, He types out.
Chojja 1-0 He
Game 4 : He(aka "Boxer")(t) vs Chojja(z) on Raid Assault 2
With Chojja surprisingly up 1-0 He has a lot do before beating the solid KTF zerg. Chojja, one of the true strategic masters of sc, can prove himself with a win here and a ticket into the next round.
He(@12) is up to old tricks again with proxy rax and bunkering. Chojja tries to trick his way by cancelling the cc when bunker completes, but He is too experienced and sense it coming, so Chojja is stuck with a mass of lings and no expansion. Still continues into his original game plan by going lair and spire, while harassing with speedlings. Gosu harass have He stuck in his base and turtling vs a 1-base zerg.
To be fair, CHojja is the best 1 base zerg on the planet, and deserve respect. Retakes his natural while working on the first set of lurkers and working overtime to harass the terran base. Unfortunately He times a perfect attack and razes the just-finished zerg natural before defenses can be placed. Chojja eliminates the offending m&m army with his first lurkers and muta/ling, but is still stuck with a single base.
The first dropship is in the air, but Chojja spots it and defends with his lurkers and lings, while taking the time to finally establish his natural. Also forces He to cancel his natural for a split second. The terran natural comes online, but CHojja is on the offence and plants lurkers overlooking the terran natural. Great use of hold lurkers kills all the maynarded scvs - dream situation:o
He has a hidden expansion at lower 9 that nobody knew about untill the commentators suddenly found it. Does not matter much, because Chojja is back in world-beating shape and shows it. He's massive army of 3 dozen m&m, 4 tanks and 2 vessels gets destroyed by lurkers and lings, while scourge takes care of the vessels. Chojja is also running hive tech now, looking to go defiler while defending against the mass of dropship harass He is doing everywhere. To be fair, Chojja is probably the hardest zerg player to drop on, always defending his expansions well.
He is now looking more and more desperate, with his trademark drops not working and Chojja attacking the terran natural with a mass of lurkers protected by dark swarm. There is nothing the emperor can do, and Chojja levels the natural and pushes into the terran main. After doing more drops, He types out.
Chojja 2-0 He
Big love to smurfingchobo for helping me with the VODs I could not find. Thanks, man;) Also I could not find the ending for the last Boxer/Chojja match and the last part is based on live reports because I had to get the reports done before christmas:o
