Jackal's got it. I'm reluctant to sign up for anything because i have no idea what my schedule will be. Once i get moved in and school has started up, i'll start signing up for games again, most likely.

i'll /in if it's a mini, if i start lurking on sept 7 then it's because i'm moving and then school is starting, I'll try to stay active though. If we do go to a full size setup i don't think i'll play, because i don't want to have to spend the limited time that i'll have catching up on what will likely be a huge thread.

I'd like to reemphasize that i will be moving into my dorm and then starting classes on the 7th and the 9th respectively. My activity level will almost definitely decline at that point, so if i'm not active during times when i usually would be, or have gotten lurky, check the date, because it might not be intentional.

Role confirmed. Ground rules for a good game and a happy Varpy:

no spamming. Be efficient with your posts and try to make each one count. we don't need to hear every thought you have, so if you want to say something, organize your thoughts and put them all into ONE post
no lurking. Be active and constructive. We won't be able to get an accurate read on you if you have no posts, and I don't want to have to resort to lurker lynches to get rid of people like that, especially in such a small game.
no trolling. I understand that you want to have fun in a mafia game, but please don't do it in a way that will ruin the experience for others. fake claiming randomly falls into this category. I would discourage fake claiming in general, but in certain situations it serves a purpose. If you don't have a good reason, don't claim to be a role that you're not.

As an aside, claims should never be trusted outright. If we trust every claim, mafia will claim with impunity and we'll get destroyed.

Palmar, could we try to start discussion without you tunneling the first person you see?

I have a proposal, for the purpose of maximizing efficiency with our mandated double lynch. For the first day, maybe the first 2, we lynch a scummy person, one of average activity, and the scummiest lurker.

This achieves all of the goals of a day one lynch (lynch somebody who people have given an opinon on and who will give information when/if we see them flip, as per the goal of a normal game), as well as eliminating a lurker.

Lurkers are hard to read and dare i say distracting to the town as the game goes on, so i'd like to take advantage of the tools given to us and get rid of them early.

As the game continues we will have more information to go on, and the chances of us accurately lynching more than one scum are increased, so we can lynch normally.

lolwut? I feel like sandroba. If we have no lurkers, fine, but too often there've been people who lurk their way to the end of the game because nobody wants to kill lurkers. I'd prefer to get rid of them earlier rather then later.

you didn't read the whole post, did you? GMarsal isn't playing. Basing votes and lynches purely off of meta is hit and miss. sometimes it can have accurate results (example being Mig in XLIV) but in other situations, (such as this one) it can lead to mislynches because somebody is playing "off their meta." I seem to get accused of this every other game, actually.

oh boy. Is he really picking out the subtle differences between my first posts in various games? Yes, the purpose of the one in the game when i was scum was to look pro town. Why? because a good town atmosphere and a functional, productive town is something we should all strive for, and attempting to get the town into such a situation is pro town. Sure, scum do it for town cred, but by that logic anything in any way pro-town is scummy.

And you know that chaos13 gave me lots of shit at the beginning of WW mafia, when i was scum, mind you, for doing the exact opposite of what i do in most games? Meta can't be counted on as the main point of an argument. If you're calling me scum because you disagree with my proposal, fine, that's an acceptable argument (though it's wrong) but if your primary reason for voting me is meta, you seriously need to rethink things.

People lurk, ~~people~~Palmar spams, and the trolling bit is mostly just so i could fit in my "don't fakeclaim" thing, because apparently people don't know that. If you've been following XLIV, a fakeclaim got our medic killed (it was the medic fake-claiming).

I thought it was pertinent to add that little tip.
