‘I am regaining my confidence.’

- Your thoughts on advancing as 1st in your group?
I feel like I am back in the open season. My confidence level is on the way up. I was sure that I would make the round of 16 today. I thought overall, it was easy.

- So you say you gained a lot of confidence?
Yes, I have found my mojo. I don’t care who advances in group D.

- How did you prepare?
I definitely practiced a lot. DongRaegu practices extremely hard. I practiced in response to his practice but I think he has slacked off a bit as of late. .

- People say your play is not fancy and usually ends in a straight up battle of strengths.
I don’t feel like I won if I don’t win decisively. A macro-oriented play may be able to show more fancy maneuvers to get ahead, but winning through brute strength in a direct clash fits my style. I have tried to change a bit but it is difficult for me.

- Instead of using stalkers for defending medivac drops, you used zealots.
I have learned from watching zergs. It is a similar thought to zerg defense to medivac harassment, like when they put zerglings underneath the drop. If you just put a couple of zealots underneath, it works the same way.

- Did you practice a lot for today’s matches?
It wasn’t too much, but I did practice focusing on the 1st match. I used ladder matches to prepare for the other ones.

- Should we expect something from you this season?
The round of 16 should be a challenge, but if I can get past that I have a chance at taking the tournament.

- Any last comments?
I want to thank treefOu, and oxfOu for helping me practice. Tails said some stuff in his interview yesterday, but I think he should keep that to himself until he gets to code S (laugh).

‘I will change the trend in TvT.’

- You advanced in 2nd place in the group, how do you feel?
My play today was… well. I just feel disappointed because I lost in the winners match (against Genius) even though I predicted what strategy he was using.

- Did that feel unfair for you?
Rather than it being unfair, I was just not prepared. I was also unable to get good scouting done. I was just angry at myself.

- You beat Fruitdealer who picked you in group nominations.
I didn’t know that Fruitdealer would be send down to the up and down matches. It feels bittersweet.

- Do you think that game went well for you?
The coach told me that it looked good on broadcast but in reality, I had many small mistakes. I ate some Korean folk medicine before the match, maybe I ate too much of it, because I felt hazy. The game didn’t go as I thought it would.

- Were you confident in your last match, a TvT?
To be honest, I didn’t even practice for a TvT for today, because I am that confident in my usual skill in that matchup. Although it was the last match, I never thought it would be difficult.

- People say you have upped your game recently, what do you think?
I think you get as much results as how much you practice. Recently, I have gained an insight about TvT that may change the trend of that matchup, so I am really confident in that right now.

- Your expected result this reason?
Before I was really worried about my results. But Nada and YellOw gave me some good advice about it. So now, I am just trying hard and putting my utmost effort without pressure.

- You will be facing group D’s 1st place finisher, who do you want to advance?
I hope that Marineking can advance. Like I said before, I am really confidence in my TvT right now, and I hope to show that new thing that I found.

- Any last comments?

‘I will take revenge for Nestea.’

- You advanced in 1st place in your group to the round of 16, how do you feel?
I feel good. I will work even harder to fulfill the goal I wasn’t able to last time.

- Your game against Marineking was the topic of the day. Did you like the game?
I think as a gamer, when you become content, you stop improving. I never want to become content so that I can keep going. However, I will say that I am glad I was able to do everything I prepared in practice because recently my games haven’t been that way.

- It was a match between Marines and banelings. Did you know that would be the case?
I had that in mind. I heard that Marineking prefers to go 11-11 a lot. So that was the focus in my mind. And since banelings are the counter to marines anyways, I thought that I would come out on top.

- Did you overturn his strategy against him?
Of course, because he is the Marineking he has strong marines. But I guess you can call me banelingking because I was sure I would win through my counter build.

- The game against sC recently must also be in your mind. Do you think you lose to him often?
Back then I didn’t really know about sC too much. And after playing him in the team league again, I know now that he is a great player. I hope to face him player against player once again.

- You also used banelings against CoCa. Baneling control isn’t easy, how do you manage it?
Baneling control is tough but I like it. And I use it against zergs because I am confident in it, so it works out for me.

- I heard you practiced with Marineking.
Actually Marineking and I practice together often and played some off race matches before today. We also played each other’s race against one another and I lost that match (laugh).

- You must have been wary for the 11-11 strategy today.
I thought about it. But I was confident no matter what because it is something you just have to deal with going into such a match.

- You will be facing TOP in the next match.
I want to have a fun match against him. He is someone who took down Nestea. And since Nestea took revenge on sC for me last time, I will do the same for him this time.

- What do you think about the new format (of code S)?
Rather than the group stage matches, I like the changes for the up and down a bit better. I think it makes code S even more precious to those who don’t have it. Among the 5 players in the up and down group, only 1 person gets out with the spot so it is harder to get in. Of course, if I were down in the up and down I may not look at it favorably.

- Your goal for this season?
The semifinals. I got to the round of 8 last time so I set the bar 1 higher.

- Any last comments?
I was a bit down recently after I lost to sC. Rather than the game itself but after seeing his ceremony, I felt really bad, so I think I showed it on my expression last time. I hope that will not happen again. The coach really helped me out with that. I believe I won today because my coach believed in me. I will repay him with even better results. I want to thank IMHappy, Yoda, and Ahn Sang Ho for helping me practice. Junwi is a really great player in the team house. It is a bit disappointing that he cannot show that in broadcasted games. I hope he can believe in himself and play well next time. Oh, I forgot the say it last time but I want to thank Kim Hyo Jong for suggesting the roach-ling build for me last time.

‘I can make it to the round of 8.’

- You made the round of 16 as the 2nd place finisher in the group. This is your first code S round of 16, how do you feel?
I feel good. I also didn’t get cheesed once today, so I am happy about that too.

- Your next opponent is Genius.
I already beat Alicia so I think it will be ok. I am confident. I think I can make it to the round of 8.

- You showed an incredible game against Alicia in the 1st game. Do you play like that usually?
I don’t usually play like that on ladder. But to show something like that in broadcast, I have practiced with my teammates to show something special.

- It was not your usual pattern. Was it a build that was supposed to throw off your opponent?
On Tal’Darim altar, when I go in with a roach hydra force, it seems I can’t beat protoss. So I try to steer toward a more mobile force.

- Ultimately, the game ending unit choice was ultralisk. Isn’t that considered weak?
Ultralisks may be a bit weak, but coupled with baneling carpet bombing it was ok.

- Do you think this build will work for other maps too?
I think you could but it is weak to high Templars so it needs a bit of work.

- MC gave you praise saying that you were good against protoss. Do you think so too?
Yes. I use a mix of hydras and banelings in my play which is different from other zergs.

- You faced LosirA in the winners match. LosirA said that he thought he didn’t play as well, what do you think?
Really… I think I played a lot worse. My 6 zerglings early in the game were found and I didn’t do enough damage with my banelings.

- You said you learn a lot by watching LosirA play, what do you think after playing him?
It was good.

- What do you think about Pepsi Cola?
If there is pepsi, I will drink it. I like all colas.

- How was your rematch against Alicia in the last game?
I thought he would cancel his nexus and attack me. But he didn’t cancel and ended up attacking anyways which game me the advantage.

- Your goal for this season?
I want to make the round of 8. I want to be in the first group to pick in the group nominations.

- Any last comments?
Puzzle really helped me with practice. He also gave me a lot of advice. I also want to thank oGs’s Vines, fOu’s Choya, PRIME’s Creator and my team’s Byun for helping me practice.
