‘My goal is to win code A.’

- After winning your game in the GSTL, you just won your first GSL match, how do you feel?
I was a bit pressured during the GSTL because it was a team event rather an individual one. But Today, it was an individual event so I was less nervous. It was a bit more comfortable.

- You said so yourself that you were confident against Hyperdub after your GSTL match?
I have seen many VODs of Hyperdub. So I knew that going in, I would not lose after the midway point in the game. I thought to myself that if I just survive the early game I would definitely win.

- Using mech, you showed off some usage of the Viking and banshee.
When I face terrans on the ladder, I usually use mech. I think slowly more and more people prefer to use mech builds.

- Your teammate Yoda got to the round of 16 in code A first yesterday.
I knew for sure he would advance. He usually does not lose to zergs so I thought that it was a lock.

- Did you see his match?
I saw the 2nd set game and I thought “is he going to lose like LosirA?” because he started to drop mules randomly…(laugh)

- In the GSTL you got 2 kills already and you got 2 more game wins today. Your debut has been very successful. Does the extra attention to you add any additional pressure?
I think it is better to play well with pressure than to play badly without. I am just happy I don’t have to go through the preliminaries again.

- Your goal for this season?
I want to win code A and get to code S.

- Your round of 16 opponent will be zerg, are you confident?
I am confident in my TvZ matchup as well. I will use both my own style as well as a style similar to Yoda’s.

- Any last comments?
I want to thank dreamertt for helping me practice and even coming to the match today. After the first match, the coach came in to tell me not to overcelebrate and that really helped me out. I hope that all of my teammates can also get some good results today.

‘It didn’t go as planned.’

- You just played a tough series. How do you feel?
As I played the match, I got pretty angry. I was correct in my prediction of what my opponent’s builds would be, but because of my nerves, instead of the games going easily, it became extremely tough.

- Are you still nervous about playing in broadcasted matches?
I debuted in open season 3, and back then I heard from other people that I looked like I was going to win. Now, I hear “he looks weak”. I just think I get caught up in trying to win too fast for the people watching who know the game well.

- Has there been an increase of zergs not using roaches in ZvZ?.
I don’t think it is wise to skip on roaches in ZvZ. It is good to use mutalisks for stalling but ultralisks are bad. In ZvZ, I believe roaches are the key.

- In the 3rd set you decided to use hydras against your opponent’s mutalisks.
If you try to counter with infestors my opponent may have just changed his attack timing to make them inefficient. I think with hydras, it makes it so that I can attack at any moment, which puts my opponent on edge. Even if you decide to switch over to infestors, I think choosing hydralisks in that situation is good.

- Your results have been pretty stagnant. Have you found a way to get to the next level?
I think I may have. My next opponent is terran. My team’s terrans are the best so with enough practice, I should be able to win easily.

- You will be facing IMHappy who has been playing lights out recently, did you see his match?
I only saw the results. So instead of his games, I am just aware of his ladder ranking.

- Do you think you will be playing in the GSTL soon?
I think in comparison to other players on my team, I am less prepared. But I do think my tern to play will be soon.

- Your goal for this season’s code A?
I said before that I wanted to win, but now I just want to make code S.

- Any last comments?
Before coming to this match, Ryung gave me a high five at the teamhouse. I want to thank all the zerg players on the team who helped me practice.

‘Slowly but surely, I will restore myself from this slump.’

- It has been a while since your last win, how do you feel?
It hasn’t been that long to be honest, but it felt like forever. I was really feeling the pressure when I lost the last time, and I think I was able to win today because I wasn’t feeling that as much.

- Your slump felt long, how did you spend your time during that?
I do think I was definitely in a slump. And I was lacking in my motivation to practice. And if it was the lack of practice that made me lose in the super tournament, I thought that I may end up dropping these code A games as well.

- Recently, your close friend HuK has really emerged as a player (**winning 2 events in a row) How do you feel about that?
I am a bit jealous of him. But in looking at the amount of practice that Chris has put into the game, I think we should have expected those kinds of results. I am also happy for him. I can only focus for about 10 games at a time, but Chris seems to be able to focus for around 7-10 hours at a time, it is impressive.

- If you were to judge today’s games?
I don’t think I am completely out of the slump yet. I think it is just the beginning. During my time in Europe, I was able to practice against some famous protoss players to learn and exchange ideas. I will try to show even better games next time.

- You may end up facing BoxeR next, you have not faced him before.
I had a chance at facing him previously, but he lost to Polt in the match. I think the match will be tough not just because he is BoxeR but it is a mirror matchup.

- Do you think you can regain your code S spot?
I think it will be nice to get back to code S. And even if that doesn’t happen, I just want to practice harder to take my skill back to that level. It will feel even better when I am truly deserving of that spot through my skill.

- There has been some speculation that your play has been on the decline because of the toll that Korean living has put on you.
That is definitely not the case. I just have not been very efficient in the last couple of months. I think it became more like a job for me during practice and I forgot to be thankful for the position that I was in. Before, my goal was simply to beat my next opponent but now my first priority is to increase my overall skill level.

- There are many fans clamoring for your resurrection. Do you have anything you want to say to them?
I want to thank them for their continuous support. I will try to respond accordingly in the following seasons.

- Any last comments?
I want to thank Inca, Hero, Vines, Groovy, Sase, socke, Tod, and aden for both helping me practice and giving me advice. .

- You just beat a legend, how do you feel?
He is someone I have looked up to since SCBW. I was nervous even before the game, but I think the games just went well for me today.

- You said you were most confident in your vsZ matchup but your first opponent was terran.
I practiced a lot. And through that I have been getting many good results.

- There are many newcomers that would kill to have a match against BoxeR, what do you think?
I really wanted to win today to increase my name value. I think my style is just that way. I try hard so that I don’t become afraid of these situations.

- Both games were long macro games. Did you prepare for that?
I didn’t prepare that much to face mech play. But GuMiho on my team likes to use mech builds often so I thought back to when I practiced against him to play today’s match.

- Your next opponent is another Terran. You keep having to face famous players, how do you feel?
I play to feel this feeling. I feel enjoyment rather than nerves. I think it will be fun.

- You keep having to do TvTs, don’t you feel any pressure?
I guess more of my builds are revealed, but because my team helps me prepare I don’t think it will be a problem.

- This is your first victory in the GSL, what are your goals?
My 1st goal is to make it to the up and down. And my 2nd is to make code S.

- You lost your first match after you came out first for your team.
I think I was overthinking it. I thought that my opponent would come out after just gathering up his forces. I was panicked.

- Will you be making an appearance in the GSTL again?
If given the chance I want to go out again.

- When do you think you will be able to play against a zerg?
I think if I can beat Jinro I will be able to play a zerg.

- It seems like you got a lot of help from your team.
I get a lot of help from Kasyu who practices right in front of me. I also got a lot of help from Artist who isn’t with us anymore. I want to thank them.

- Any last comments?
Since I beat BoxeR, I will take responsibility and try my best to get even further in the tournament.
