Every year in Australia there is a program that runs called the World's Greatest Shave that sponsors the Leukaemia Foundation. I've never really thought about entering it, probably because I've never known anyone who has been affected by Leukaemia. However, when i heard about Violet (who is only 2 years older than myself) being diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia it really struck a chord with me. Someone getting to play the game that we all love full time being dealt such an unlucky blow, I would hate to be in his situation.
So as of today i have signed up for the World's Greatest Shave. However, i want to put a special spin on it. Rather than choose to Colour or Shave my hair I'm going to do both. Up until the weekend of the shave (March 10-12) I will colour my hair violet, in support of our Korean mate, and after that it will all come off. The main issue here is that i work for a fairly large retail company and this needs to be approved by HR beforehand. Either way i will still be shaving my hair but i hope that support from TL and other communities will show how passionate we are about the issue.
IF YOU WANT TO DONATE OR HELP OUT, PLEASE CONTACT ME! I WILL GET BACK TO YOU WITH THE DETAILS ASAP. If you are in Melbourne and want to help me out that would be particularly useful. If all goes well ill hopefully get some videos up on youtube of the process so you guys know what's up. If you've got any questions please ask, it's my first time so lets hope it goes off without a hitch.
Heres a quick link to my page: http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/VioletforViOlet
(Just to clarify, donations won't go to Violet directly, but to the Leukaemia Foundation)
UPDATE 4/2/11: Got a message from HR that i can go violet but only for a week before it gets shaved (so somewhere around the start of march). However, they will let me wear a violet shirt until then to help promote the cause and have agreed to fund a sausage sizzle donation drive for our mate! Pics incoming when i get the shirt.
UPDATE 15/2/11: Finally got the shirt sorted out, heres a quick pic!
