Thoughts on your first win of the season?
-I’m happy to get the first win. I wasn’t in great condition before the game, and this victory is going to help steer me back on track, so I’m glad.
Your abilities seem to be improving.
-During practice, I try to get a better sense of the bigger picture, and my decision making has improved. I feel my abilities improving.
You were pressured early on.
-I thought about a lot of stuff during the game, but I didn’t expect it’d turn out like this. I was surprised to have been pressured so hard. It seems like I’m still not focused enough during games, I need to work on improving my focus.
For a successful comeback, what did you focus on?
-During the engagements, I focused on accurately gauging the distances, and tried to change the situation. I also defended my opponent’s drops well, so I could make a comeback.
As opposed to before, today, your management and decisions were very quick and decisive.
-Before, I would often get into long drawn out attrition fights, so I’ve been trying to improve my decision making to end it decisively. I feel like I’ve improved in this regard a lot recently.
During the China-Korea games, you lost to Trap, were you impacted?
-I’ve been trying to forget about the losses in China. I played very poorly back then, so during the off-season, I spent a lot of time and practiced hard.
You’re getting a lot of attention as STX’s next big player.
-All I can do is play my best, right? [laugh] Ah~! I think it’s because I often practice with players from other teams.
Your goal this season?
-To become a core player on STX’s roster.

Thoughts on your first win?
-It’s my first time playing on Empire of the Sun, and my ZvZ has a lot of weak points, so I was worried, but luckily, I won. I’m glad to get a good start.
It’s been said ZvZ is your weak point.
-My ZvZ would often let the opponent get a comeback. I’ve been more focused in games, and I’ve changed my view on it recently, and now I’ve found confidence.
Last season’s results weren’t fully satisfactory.
-I was disappointed in myself last season too. But I also learned a lot. With the experience, I should get a good result this season. A lot of the bad habits I had in games have been corrected.
Thoughts on today’s game?
-I saw the opponent’s expansion, so I massed lings, but it got defended. Luckily I kept up the aggression, and won with Mutalisks.
You’re regarded as the team’s third ace.
-It seems the team has high expectations [laugh] I think if I can work harder, I should be able to become an ace for the team, so I’m working on it.
Your goal this season?
-I have a personal goal, but I don’t want to say it now. I’ll say it after I meet it, naturally. Last season, I set my goal too early, and it ended up being awkward, so I need to be more cautious now.

Thoughts on the first win of the season?
Kal: I’m glad to have won. Before my game, everyone performed well, so I felt like I needed to also set an example, which also put on some pressure. Good thing I won.
Shuttle: This is my first time opening with a win in SPL. I think this season will turn out well. Bogus’ strong performance put pressure on me, but luckily I won.
You made a comeback victory.
Shuttle: I totally didn’t expect it. Good thing I didn’t lose to that attack. Even though I took heavy losses, victory cancels out all in the end, so I just went for it. Because it was easy to expand, I feel like if I could win the last engagement, there’s a good chance that I could win.
Were you confident in winning that last battle?
Shuttle: Even if I didn’t win with it, as long as I got the opponent’s natural, I would gain a lot, so I felt like I should go for it.
Your macro was excellent.
Shuttle: Rather than fancy strategies and tactics, I focus more on macro. I would usually play with this style in games.
Did you expect your opponent’s drop?
Kal: I expected it, which is why I sim citied like I did. I would meet this strategy often in practice, so defending it was easy.
Your goal this season?
Kal: To be the team’s ace. Right now, there a lot of people gunning for the spot of STX’s ace [laugh]
Shuttle: Personally, I think if I could get 40 wins in SPL that’d be great. Also I hope our team wins the regular season as rank 1.
Last words?
Kal: Everyone is working hard, we’ll definitely get a good result this time. I hope the fans support us.
Shuttle: I’m very glad we opened with a victory. This SPL is our time to win. I hope we can get a good result, get the grand championship.
