A quick game of mine, ZvP, Zealot rush. I won, but it was very close, and I am just looking for help on what I could have done better. I underlined the questions in the little comments section below. Starting out my strat was to get quick mutas for harass, and use lings + spine crawlers for D, and just change up my strat depending on what I scouted.
![[image loading]](http://www.gamereplays.org/community/uploads/repimgs/repimg-33-135361.jpg) A bit of comments from myself, on the game.
2:30 I see his second gateway with no gas, lots of pylons and saved energy, I assume (Correctly) Zealot rush. I decide to go straight to roach and pump them. ( sorta mess up and get the roach warren a bit late)
4:00 I start my roach warren, and build 2 spine crawlers for D. Was my spawn crawler placement good? Should they be elsewhere?
5:45 First attack, I don't do much micro, other than making sure they are fighting in range of my spine crawlers. (I saw he made a cybernetics core, but I decide to stick with all roach since he has a lot of zealots. Should I have gone with some lings, and set them in a different control group in the back, and saved them for when the zealots died and only the stalkers were left, or just stay roach?)
9:10 Stalkers enter my base with zealots kinda far behind, I should have engaged them right away before the zealots got there, but I didn't
9:40, I start kiting his zealots away from his stalkers, and into my SC. Should I be doing this, or fight them straight up? What if there were no SC there, is it still smart to micro roaches back a few steps, and attack again, and repeat. Kinda like a reaper kiting lings?

I can't watch the replay, but can give some general advice:
1) Good on switching to roaches, and yes 1.5 min is abit late for the roach transition. 2) Can't see the crawlers so I can't comment on that. Generally I like to place the crawlers up front next to the hatch, so they can't get run-around but they are still tanking the damage. If you're low on resources from pumping roaches don't spawn larvae, save up for transfusion. A second queen can also work instead of a second crawler. Same cost, but the queen can air defense and transfusion and creep tumor. 3)You always want to fight with the lings. Never hold them back - you risk getting overrun. However, try to micro your lings to fight the stalkers. If he pulls zealots back, great, just kite them with the lings. Let the spine crawler do the work while your lings run circles around him. 4)You should kite zealots, pausing to striek back. Zealots attack faster than roaches but roaches can kite them on creep. That means you can cut zealot damage down to however fast your roaches can attack. This is like reapers kiting lings, except reapers prefer not to be hit at all. You have to expect roaches to get hit, just try to limit the damage.

thnx for the advice

In case this helps:
Try speedling/bling against 2 gates. It can win, especially on scrap station because it is hard to wall of without a pylon. Just get a ton of blings to deal with their zealots, then the lings will kill stalkers. Bust their pylon, badda bing badda boom.
If it's not successful, hopefully you did enough damage to transition to tier2.
