Q: It’s your 5th consecutive MSL appearance
A: Now that I am one of my team’s ace members, I thought that I must make it to the main rounds. However, the players in my group were not bad players and I couldn’t practice a lot, so I chose all-in builds.
Q: You won only with Zerglings
A: I always won with management, but winning like this feels exciting. I think I know how
Kwanro feels now.Q: Your opponent’s defense was weak in game 1
A: I always go for economic games, so I thought he wouldn’t focus on early aggression. That’s why I used speedlings to win.
Q: Was your proxy Hatchery planned?
A: I was planning to use it on Match Point since some time ago. When I’m at 7 o’clock, the opponent can see a lot of the creep if I proxy at 1 o’clock base. I got the 7 o’clock base a lot of the times, but today, I finally got the 1 o’clock base, so I used it. It was one of the best scenarios possible for me, but no one has ever used their Zerglings that aggressively during practice. It was first time facing a strategy like that, and I became nervous when his lings broke through.
Q: Did you ever think that you would lose the Zergling battle?
A: After we traded bases, I didn’t think that I could lose.
Q: Your record in MSL is slowly become worse
A: I think it’s about time for me to advance to the finals. My record is indeed getting worse, and I think it was for me to go to the finals season. I’ll try hard for it.
Q: Anything planned for New Year’s?
A: I have to film something in the middle, so I don’t think I can go anywhere. I want to get some rest first though.

MVP and Crazy-Hydra dropped out of individual leagues. They were so close to getting there, which disappoints me a little. I hope they regain strength over the break. I made fun of Neo.G_Soulkey when he dropped out of his individual leagues, so he was threatening me that he’ll say bad things about me when he gets an interview. I just want to tell him that I had no spiteful reason for making fun of him. Q 5연속 MSL 진출에 성공했다.
A 이젠 내가 나름대로 팀을 대표하는 선수 중 하나이기 때문에 당연히 올라가야 되겠다고 생각했다. 하지만 경기를 하는 선수들이 못하는 선수도 아니고 준비를 많이 하지 못해서 올인 전략을 썼다.
Q 저글링만으로 이겼다.
A 항상 운영을 해서 이겼는데 이렇게 이기는 것도 짜릿하다. (한)상봉이가 이런 기분이었구나 하는 생각이 든다.
Q 1경기는 상대방의 방어가 부실했다.
A 항상 부유하게 하는 스타일이라 상대 선수가 신경쓰지 않으리라 생각해서 속도 업그레이드를 하고 이기려 했다.
Q 전진 해처리 저글링 생산은 미리 준비한 전략인가.
A 예전부터 매치포인트에서 쓰려고 준비했다. 7시일 때 1시에 가서 지으면 크립이 많이 보인다. 매번 7시에 걸렸는데 오늘 드디어 1시에 걸려서 썼다. 최상의 시나리오 중 하나였는데 저글링을 이렇게 공격적으로 쓰는 선수가 없었다. 처음 겪어본 상황이었고 저글링에 뚫려서 당황했다.
Q 저글링과의 싸움에서 이길 수 없다고 생각하지는 않았나.
A 본진 바꾸기 싸움을 들어간 상황에서 질 수 없다고 생각했다.
Q MSL에서 조금씩 성적이 나빠지고 있다.
A 이제는 결승에 가봐야하지 않을까 하는 생각이 든다. 점점 MSL에서 성적이 나빠지고 있는데 이번에 결승을 가기 위해서일 것이라 생각하고 더욱 열심히 하겠다.
Q 설 연휴 계획은.
A 촬영이 있어서 못 갈 것 같다. 일단은 휴식을 취할 계획이다.
Q 하고 싶은 말은.
A 어제 오늘 (정)종현이와 (임)정현이가 개인리그에서 떨어졌다. 둘 다 아쉽게 떨어져서 너무 안타깝다. 설 연휴 동안 쉬면서 힘냈으면 좋겠다. 우리 팀 (김)민철이가 떨어졌을 때 놀렸다. 그래서 차후에 인터뷰를 하면 나에대한 악담을 하겠다고 했다. 내가 그때 놀렸던 것은 악의가 없었다고 말하고 싶다. 악담을 해도 좋으니 나가서 이겼으면 좋겠다.

Hyuk“I’ll use this opportunity to get out of my slump”

Q: It’s your second consecutive MSL qualification. How do you feel?
A: I was lucky. Recently, I was doing so badly and I couldn’t play a lot of televised matches. I got really nervous during my last Proleague game, so I was worried about today. However, I got less nervous than I thought I would so I was able to play the games the way I wanted.
Q: Your reason for being inconsistent?
A: I tend to spend a lot of time thinking. I was continuously losing to Protosses, after one thing got screwed up, I panicked and it became hard for me. My practice amount has decreased sufficiently, so I’m trying my hardest to catch up.
Q: Do you think today could be an opportunity for you?
A: It can definitely be used as an opportunity. The fact that I won means that my games went accordingly as I wanted, so I think I can play with confidence from now.
Q: You lost to proxy hidden Hatchery in the winner’s game
A: I thought he expanded to 5 o’clock or the mineral-only expansion, so I tried to switch bases, but I didn’t know about the hidden Hatchery until the end of the game.
ZerO always plays standard, so I was beaten by his all-in. When I lose a non-mirror match, I tend to panic a lot. However, for ZvZ, I believe that I can win my next game, so the loss didn’t affect me too much.Q: How was your last game?
A: When the game started, I realized that he was really nervous when I was running away with my Zerglings. I knew that I would win if I played like I normally do.
Q: You should be greedy about your record
A: I had a lot of greed when I first advanced to MSL. I wanted to continue the momentum and show what I can do, but I suddenly didn’t feel like playing and panicked, so my persistence got weaker. But this time, I want to do my best and at least opt for a seed.
Q: New Year’s plans?
A: I’m going to spend it at my parents’ house.
Q: Anything else?
A: Although it was a vacation period, my coaches didn’t go back home in order to watch and help me play. They told me to advance as my New Year’s gift for them, and I’m really happy because it feels like I’ve given them something.

A 운이 좋았다. 최근에 많이 부진해서 방송 경기에 많이 나서지 못했다. 지난 프로리그에서 긴장을 많이 해서 오늘도 걱정이 많았다. 그런데 생각보다 긴장을 덜 해서 준비했던 패턴의 경기가 됐다.
Q 기복이 심한 이유는.
A 연습량을 줄이며 생각을 많이 하는 편인데 프로토스에게 연패를 하면서 거기서 하나가 틀어지더니 갑자기 패닉 상태가 돼서 힘들었다. 연습량이 많이 떨어졌는데 따라가기 위해 열심히 하고 있다.
Q 서바이버가 도약의 계기가 될 것 같은지.
A 충분히 계기가 될 것 같다. 승리를 했다는 건 내 플레이가 맞다는 것이 되기 때문에 자신감 있게 할 수 있을 것 같다.
Q 승자전에서 몰래 해처리에 당했다.
A 미네랄 확장기지나 5시 쪽에 펼쳤을 줄 알았다. 그래서 맞바꾸기를 했는데 끝날 때까지 몰래 해처리를 모르고 당했다. 김명운 선수가 정석적인 플레이를 하는 선수라 변칙적인 방법에 당황했다. 타종족전에서 지면 패닉이 심한 편이다. 저그전은 다음에 붙으면 이길 수 있다고 생각하기 떄문에 공황상태가 거의 없다.
Q 최종전은 어땠나.
A 게임에 임하고 나서 저글링을 돌리면서 상대가 긴장을 많이 하고 있다는 것을 느꼈다. 그래서 하던 그대로 하면 될 것이라고 확신했다.
Q 성적에 욕심을 낼 때다.
A 처음 MSL에 올라갔을 때 포부가 컸다. 기세를 타서 뭔가를 보여주고 싶었는데 도중에 게임을 할 맛도 나지 않고 패닉 상태가 와서 의지력이 약해졌다. 이번에는 제대로 해서 최소한 시드를 받고 싶다.
