Idra Banned for 90 Days - Page 9

Hello, all!

It's become quite apparent that many of you are not reading the first post carefully.

Failure to do so in the future will be met with swift punishment. And as always, remember to be civil.

Thanks,

Just ban him already for good if thats what you want. No good in banning him for these long times if he's not going to change anyway. You should stop messing with all the fans here and just get over it if you think he such a bad poster here on the site. But I guesse that not what you'll do since you know in the end it is not wise to remove him from the site.

Perma banned users can't compete in TL tournaments I think. (Correct me?) So until it gets to that point we have to keep watching the ban/bm dance go on and on.

He told thousands of people to harass a TL mod. How can anyone possibly think the ban was an overreaction? I'm surprised he didn't get a longer or permanent ban.

Ridiculous way of enforcing something bad just out of spite. This is not national law, it's just a forum. Would be way better to actually think of the fans and at least stick to the original 2 days.

It's their house, their rules imo. But the real problem is that players from different teams or whatever who shouldn't be talking to each other in the first place can do that here.

If you compare eSports with like hockey, or any other sport (which I think we should) people from different teams don't hang out on the same forums and try to be civil. Reading the lips on some of the players during a game, you can "hear" some really heavy profanities :D

No I think that the ban is just, and Idra should keep the trashtalk about other players to his twitter. If you want to be here, behave.

I read through the screenshot of ban reasons. Wow... He should have gotten 90 days long before this. Not because of what he said, but because he said it here, on private property.

I'm still a big fan, love his mechanics and reasoning, and I couldn't care less about what he is saying about his opponents.

I don't understand why he wouldn't stream though. He makes money off of it and the stream has nothing to do with TL other than that it is listed here.

Edit: 8 pages of replies posted while I'm writing this? Sigh...

There's nothing wrong with joining the ladder at the same time as someone else. What action could we possibly take against that?

So if you were streaming, and you got matched up against idra, and he magically knew everything you were doing only to find out later that he was checking your stream to see everything you were doing, you wouldn't have any problem with that?

No.

This is honestly ridiculous.

How is that ok in anyway?

How is what? There's literally zero proof Cruncher was watching Idra's stream while playing. The only proof is that he had the stream open, which he's admitted to.

But surely that makes it pretty darn obvious that he was cheating??

Surely it doesn't prove anything.

My original "No." comment is responding to the situation at hand. If I found out someone had my stream open I wouldn't have a problem with it. If I found proof that he was watching it while playing me, I would have a huge problem with it.

I understand his stream brings extra visitors to TL, but you need to defend yourselves. Just my opinion.

I agree. He makes money off the stream also. Taking him off the streamlist is similar to having to pay court fines in a way. It motivates people to NOT break the rules ;P

One of the foundational precepts of leadership and maintaining a standard of conduct is the enforcement of standards. If you fail to maintain standards, the standards will fall apart and there will be no standards. Idra would not abide by the established standards and was punished. When he continued to not follow standards the punishment escalated. This is how is works in the real world. He is not so popular that he can believe the standards do not apply to him because they do. Don't blame TL for this it is all on Idra.

As an officer in the military, this is how i deal with my troops all the time when they do not follow the established standards.

Cruncher has dual monitors..i mean you are basically saying "the stream was open right there in front of him but we can't prove his eyes were pointed in that direction"

Lol as far as I can tell it's idra creating unnecessary drama. He got banned for flaming a tl user/fellow competitor which he knew full and well was going to happen as it's happened many times before, but instead of accepting his 1512323 2 day ban, he decided to stop streaming (what?) and making a tweet calling for his fans to harass an individual moderator on these forums.

I feel the 2 day ban was justified. Calling someone a waste a life is pretty low and should be punished. All fine and dandy, what I am not ok with is punishing someone for something they said outside of the forums. Idra didn't tell anyone to harass Chill, Idra said and I quote "wont be streaming for 2 days as i have been banned from tl for insulting cruncher, everyone pm Chill if this upsets you." Yes he did tell his fans to PM Chill, did he tell them to insult him or harass him? No he didnt and I'm sorry but if mods can't handle getting PMs from people maybe they should reconsider being mods.

IdrA got trolled by Cruncher so trolled back on TL. Betting Chill had his troll face on before anything ever happened because he knew IdrA's commentary would spill over into TL.net and "he hates that shit", so IdrA realizing the jig was up tried to use his fanbase to counter troll Chill with PM spam.

In the end one ladder game turned into 90 days. This whole thing feels stupid.

Oh no in my first post I said I completely understood the reason for the ban. I'm not saying it's not right or not in TL's rightful authority to give idra this 90day ban.

My issue is that I feel like both idra and cruncher are in the wrong here. If it's Chill's opinion that stream ghosting isn't a punishable offense, then he doesn't see cruncher as being in the wrong. That's also completely fine, but this sets the precedent that TL can't punish anyone for ghosting a TL member's stream while claiming objectivity.

You haven't been reading. Ghosting is not fine. There is no reason to assume Cruncher was ghosting, and even less proof of it.

Then go get the fucking replay of the game and analyze it.

Don't care enough to do so? Well, then your kind of moderation is horrible because there could be your damn proof but you aren't investigating it.
IdrA won't release it? Go ask cruncher, he wasn't doing it after all, he shouldn't have any reason not to release it.

IdrA has contributed absolutely nothing to the community, besides encouraging whine and bad manner, imbalance discussions and calling day9 (who is contributing his life to the community) stupid in his face.

I am in awe that there are so many people supporting and look up to him, as he has nothing to show besides being a player who blames his losses on imbalance and dozens of idiotic defeats in major tournaments.

Banning him for 90 days changes nothing unfortunately.

As much as I wish that the ban was of shorter length (being a fan of IdrA and all) and that i don't agree with the root cause of the ban. The fact he has been banned so many times before makes me think he is somewhat fortunate (for lack of a better word) the he hasn't got a perma ban hammer yet.
