I want to build a new PC for playing and streaming SC2 on max settings.

Budget: $1000 to $1500, but would prefer to be as cheap as possible
Resolution: 1920*1200
Usage: SC2, streaming, D3 when it comes out
Upgrade cycle: 3 years
Date: I want to get the parts by January 4
Overclocking: No
OS: Already have Windows 7 (64-bit)
Second GPU for SLI or Crossfire: No
Parts: Newegg

This is what I've come up with so far:

CPU
Intel Core i7-2600 Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I72600

Still undecided on case and PSU. I'm not sure how much power I'll need. Will a cheapo case fit everything? Do I need case fans? I appreciate any comments and suggestions.

No point in purchasing a H61 motherboard for $85. mATX H67 motherboards cost the same. If you need a ATX motherboard for whatever reason, it's $5 more for a ATX H67 board. Since you are getting an Intel 320 which is SATA 3Gbps and not 6Gbps, you can stick with a H61 motherboard, so pick one of the least expensive ones which are around $50-$60 - all of these will be mATX. You didn't explain why you need an ATX board.

You don't need memory with heatspreaders. There are several 2x4gb 1333MHz cas9 kits for close to $30.

For a non-overclocked single GPU configuration - you just need a ~500w unit, something such as the Antec Neo Eco 520C, XFX Core Edition 450 / 550, Antec High Current Gamer 520, Seasonic S12II 520, and Antec Earthwatts 500 / 650.

A Radeon HD6950 is sort of overkill for Starcraft II and Diablo III, you would be fine with a Radeon HD6850 which is about $100 less expensive.

If you want an inexpensive case, you can get a Bitfenix Merc Alpha for about $40 or Coolermaster Elite 370 for about $32, both from NCIX.

Thanks for the reply. How does this updated list look:

So I finally got my XFX 450W PSU and my MSI GTX 560 Ti now. The video card needs two 6-pin power plugs and the PSU has a 6-pin and an 8-pin (4+4 pin) plug. What do I do with the 8-pin plug? Can I plug it in to the side port and have 2 of the pins hanging out or is there another way? It did come with some molex(?) to 6-pin adapters but I'd rather not use extra wires unless necessary. Thanks!

So I can plug in the 4+4 plug into the 6-pin hole with 2 pins hanging out there? I just want to make sure I don't fry anything.

4+4pin is for the CPU. Not a good idea to plug that into a PCIe connector. 6+2 is meant to be used as a 6pin or 8pin, that's why it's a 6+2.

So this 450w XFX PSU only has one 6+2 PCIe connector even though on newegg it says it has "1 x 6-Pin, 1 x 6+2-Pin". wtf.... -_-
I got this one http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63238
Is it the V2 version?

Ya that's the V2 variant. Doesn't look like NCIX advertises as V2 in the title but the model# is the V2.

Well eff. The GTX 560 Ti came with the the molex adapters but that takes up 2 molex plug which leaves me with 1 T___T. I'd return it if I didn't already cut the box to do the rebate.

So my current 6 yr. old desktop has an Antec 500W Earthwatts PSU (I think this is the one based off what it looks like, I had to replace it's original one maybe 2-3 years ago with this one). Would it be wise to take that one out and use that for my build even if it's dated?

Or will the V2 have enough plugs for 1 optical drive, 1 or 2 sata drives, a GTX 560 Ti (using the 6-pin and the 2 molex to 6-pin adapter), and maybe 3 case fans?

Antec Earthwatts is fine. Its a good power supply, I'm not sure why you're buying a new one.

I already bought one, the XFX 450W, but I didn't know it was a V2 so it has less plugs than I originally thought. My current desktop has the Antec which is probably around 3 years old (I don't know how much deterioration/loss of power occurs). So I was wondering if it's worth it to completely take out and rewire my old computer and probably put in the XFX into the old system (a waste I know) and use the Antec in my new build since it has the proper plugs.
Although my main question is whether or not the XFX 450w V2 will have enough plugs for what I stated above. If it does, I won't bother taking out the Antec and leaving it in for my parents to use this computer.

1) I'm nub at building and have never done it before so I'm not sure what goes where yet.
2) I'm still waiting on my mobo, HDD, CPU fan. I don't know where fans of any sort actually plug into yet.
3) I'm not sure what things use molex so if I add more things to my computer in the future, I won't have any more molex plugs and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

I plan to watch one of the comp building guides when I get all my parts.

Nothing uses molex anymore. My current desktop has the molex cable removed because its just a waste of space.

Edit: Maybe stock case fans if your case is really old. I mean "Antec Tricool" era fans, which are like 5 years old at this point.

Ok, thanks! Then it looks like I won't have to switch the PSU out. Saves me a lot of trouble. I thought DVD drives used molex still but it seems they switched to SATA at some point. Good to know.

Oh, is there any downside/risk to using the 2 molex to 6-pin adapter? (sorry for all the stupid questions)

well I'm using a 2 molex to 6pin adapter and there's no problem >_> and the 4850 is overclocked as high as it is possible with catalyst and it passes all tests so it gets all the power etc. just fine

The only problem was getting it plugged in because the molex parts are so lame -__-

edit:
How would you rate a prebuilt computer with Athlon X3 3.3Ghz, 4gb 1333mhz ram, 500gb HDD, asrock 870 extreme3 mobo, dvd/rw, xigmatek asgard, super flower amazon 450w, Crossfired 6770s at 665€ including windows?

Haha ok, thanks.
True story, I remember always having trouble aligning some of the molex pins that somehow got bent and it was always a hassle getting the plastic ports in and out of each other xD.
