The fat chick did some horrible acting in this movie and her character was presented like she had been in the previous movies but she hasn't, so the "reveal" that she's actually the BAD GUY doesn't really work.

Anne Hathaway managed to not look super ugly in this movie which is a first for her.

Bane was pretty cool. Probably on par with Joker, I'd say.

Too few scenes with Batman.

Too long buildup with boring stuff happening/being explained.

What was up with Alfred? Man up.

How did Talia's dagger pierce Batman's body armor? Close-range bullets can't even do that shit.

Why did Bane's boys feed the police in the tunnels? And why did they also, apparentely, give them razorblades and shaving cream?

7/10. Batman Begins is still the best superhero movie ever.

Agree that the Bane-Batman fight should have been more than just a brawl. Batman has always been a cerebral fighter who analyzed his opponents and exploited their weaknesses. He never had superpowers and so couldn't just overpower his opponents, particularly one as physically powerful as Bane. Would've been nice if he had defeated him with wits rather than just outpunching him, i.e. specifically targeting his mask with a weapon or something.

The small things alone are okay. You can take some inconsistencies. But they just keep showing up that it actually starts to affect the movie as a whole.

Cops versus bad guys
Stopping a truck with a nuclear bomb by shooting your cannons at it
Gordon who just got out of hospital a few months ago, surviving a crash
Radiation all over the coast of Gotham
Why was it day time when they robbed the stock exchange and then it suddenly becomes night time?
having your back broken and then recovering in a few months, and in those months speed up recovery by climbing walls and falling only to have a rope wretch at your back
If bruce could find catwoman in Gotham why can't he just find fox directly?
Why exactly was talia necessary? Did we really need a reveal to make the show work?
Was it necessary for Bruce to fake his death as Bruce Wayne? I get batman having to "die" but so what Bruce now has a new identity?
How is robin supposed to be the new batman when the batcave is now underneath a orphanage? The kids might notice things to say the least.
Isn't it a bit out of character for batman to tell someone they are going to die (bane)?
All the sales at the stock exchange were done in the middle of a hold up... Isn't this the least bit suspiciOus to anyone at all?

I've reconciled all this by simple seein the movie as a comic book movie. I don't get some of the lavish praise of Nolan transcending the genre. He hasn't. He still faces the limitations of the superhero genre. For all the claim of bein darker more realistic and gritty it's just a comic book movie. It's a good movie no doubt but the claims of Nolan as some sort of god is quite overstated

I question your judgement of Marion Cotillard as a "fat chick". No, really, that's a pretty weird standard you've got going there.

As Fox puts it in the second movie, Batman's new armor is more vulnerable to knives and gunfire in exchange for allowing more mobility.

Having hundreds of decaying bodies, surprisingly, smells worse than having several hundred people trapped in the sewer system.

Ok.

That's weird. Didn't bullets bounce off his armor in this movie? I could have sworn.

Yeah, can't have the sewer smell bad.

Yeah.

Bullets bounce off the plates, but if a person with a machine gun started blasting away, he might catch a shot or two.

If you're gonna take over a city and blow it up, there's absolutely no reason why you'd want dead bodies fouling up the city for the few months you have to live in it.

Yeah, people need to remember that Bane wanted to give both Batman and Gotham false hope and ultimately destroy both anyway. Bane didn't expect to get out of the city alive and knew Talia could set the bomb off at any time, so there was no concern that the cops, or anyone, could stop their plans.

And shaving cream, I guess. Still don't understand what would be so bad about having the sewers (THE SEWERS) smell bad for a couple of days.

I don't understand all that hope bullshit, anyway. They all lived in despair, and if they're gonna be blown up anyway what's the point.

Not for a few days, a few months. It would probably kill the police within a few weeks without food, water, toiletries, medicine.

Imagine living with a dead body hidden in your refrigerator, but the power was cut and your relatives were staying over for a month or two. It would be awkward, and you'd have to contact the electrician to fix it without having the fridge open.

But if you had just kept the person alive in your fridge, bound and gagged, with sanitation, there'd be no smell and you'd be fine and happy as long as nobody opened the fridge.

It's a disturbing analogy, but it works.

That's a terrible analogy. No one lives in the sewers, and they are closed off. It's not like the smell would reach the city. Cemetaries don't smell even though you bury people there, you know.

Also, IT'S THE GODDAMN SEWERS.

I agree with most of the negative comments here. The plot went to shit in the last 20-30 minutes. Bane deserved way better, some serious plot holes and contrived crap (batman coming back to gotham randomly, him knowing exactly where catwoman was, gordon being 100% ok from the crash, catwoman showing up just in time to get bane, batman taking the bomb, etc etc)

Outside of that, it was enjoyable and a good summer flick. The last one was lightyears better though. The first was better as well.

Are you serious? You think THOSE are serious plot holes? Who cares about any of that shit. That literally has NOTHING to do with the plot at all. You just want an explanation for small things that have no relevance to the actual story. Why does it matter how Batman go back to Gotham? You want to see him on a plane or something? Or knowing exactly where catwoman was? or Gordon being ok from the collision? Or any of the others you named. I just don't see why those have any sort of relevance at all.

FYI: I'm not a batman fanboy, though I did enjoy the movie quite a bit. I just think people are complaining about stupid shit for the sake of complaining.

batman and the bomb. if he survived, it is ridiculous. if it is just alfred's dream as many are interpreting, it is still odd. why the hell is selina kyle in it?? it doesn't make sense either way.

There is also the scene with Fox and a couple engineers at the end talking about the auto-pilot. Fox asks the engineers what could have been done to get the auto-pilot working. He is told that it has been working for the last 6 months, and Bruce fixed it.

That is what interests me, clearly that Fox didn't made all the batman's gadget himself, such as the bat mobile. It was clearly stated that it was previously developed by the R&D. When batman hit the news driving around those in Gotham, engineers who worked on the project would've known that Wayne enterprise have connection with the batman. So either all these employee are jolly good employees whom don't spill secrets, or they are the fan of batman!

6/10. In the end too many little faults and inconsistencies for me to rate it higher. As discussed on the last few pages, you can easily overlook them when they don't matter in the grand scheme of things, but when they add up too much, it is not for me anymore. Also would have been 7/10 if the movie ended a minute earlier, but I believe Cyric made a good case why it fits with the movie why Wayne survives. But the ending just felt too cheesy anyhow.
I basically rate movies 7 or higher if I am looking forward to watching them again. With this movie I can't really think of a reason why I would do so.

That fat chick is super fucking hot. How dare you.

This is the most heinous of your horribly off the mark criticisms.

Just watched the movie and had to avoid reading this thread bc apparently germany has a week later release than u guys^^ and pretty much all has been said, not as good as TDK imo but still an enjoyable movie to fill my early action dose alongside the avengers.

I also agree with the facepalm moments like 9mm armed policemen running into machine gun + batcar thugs. lol and thalia's death was sooooo bad acted.

Conclusion: Anne Hathaway in skintight Leathersuit >>> Scarlett Johansson in Skintight leathersuit.

This movie satisfied me in ways I thought impossible.

I am happy.

Mediocre film, slightly worse than the Dark Knight.

Bad writing : a contrived plot explained at lengths to try to make some sense of it. Cheesy lines everywhere. The shot at the traders for instance seems horribly contrived. The moral ambiguity is overall badly thought. The well metaphor is already not exactly brilliant, but worse, we have to stand through what seems like hours of explaining the obvious. Learn to cut a movie please, this is not 1920 anymore, Battleship Potemkine has been shot...
Twist is okay though, and I'm a hater of that type of thing, and the ending is pretty good, especially compared to the rest of the movie. Still cheesy, but within the acceptable bounds for superhero movies.

Action is overall decently shot, but uneven. For instance the opening scene : the idea is very good, the outside part is okay, the inside part is a mess. Rythm is awefully slow at the beginning, slightly better at the end.

Acting is pretty bad. Hardy is good when you understand him (more on that later), Hathaway is so hot that whatever she does I'll love it, and er yeah... Cotillard is not at her best, Bale is still terrible, not sure what the fuck is up with Gary Oldman (probably did not care), and even Michael Caine, whom I love, is only good.

And finally the sound as a whole is an horror. Zimmer's music sucks (yes I mean it), Bane's voice is sometimes impossible to understand, and the whole experience is a mess. My ears are still bleeding.

I really liked the film. It works as an ending to the trilogy, though it wasn't flawless, and probably worse than Dark Knight, it was still thoroughly enjoyable and worth seeing.
Bane's death was a disapointment, and the cops storming Bane's army in the way they did was a bit goofy, but almost all the other criticisms of the movie are nitpicking, or at least all the ones I've read so far.
More of a sequal to Batman Begins, in both tone and plotline, than the Dark Knight though the way the villains built on each other from League of Shadows, Scare Crow Joker, Two Face, Bane and then back to the League of Shadows was pretty fantastically done over the course of the 3 films.

My theory: Bane and Talia are not dead.

Bane was not actually shown to have died. People are complaining that Nolan didn't give Bane a proper death scene, but I think that was exactly Nolan's intention to leave it ambiguous. Also, remember that the vest Bane kept holding on to the entire movie is armored, therefore the Pod's cannons may have only injured him, not killed him.

The weaponry on the Bat-pod can destroy or leave a big hole in a wall of cars and concrete debris that trapped the majority of the police force. We can safely say that Bane is dead. He maybe wearing body armor, but I doubt it can save his life from a head on blast from a cannon.

if the cannon used to kill Bane was the same one used to blow up those rocks Batman would have died as well. Since he didn't we can assume Bane also didn't since this is a superhero movie and his destroyed body was not shown.
