No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.

Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers.

I read the OP and I thought this was messed up, and I still do.

I think people who watch Dexter are messed up. But that's just because the show is about a serial murdering detective.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. Not to derail the thread, but are you just saying that for the sake of argument, or do you really think that? Because I absolutely love Dexter, and I think that the moral ambiguity of the main character just makes it more interesting to watch. They do an amazing job of making him fascinatingly sympathetic despite not being strictly the "good guy."

Yes matjlav, I would assume that any show centered on a serial murdering detective would draw quite a crowd of a messed up people. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that everyone who watches that show is messed up (that's using Djzapz, PhD logic), but I am saying that there must be something a little off (or just a great deal of desensitization) that appeals to people who enjoy watching murder being peddled on TV.

So it's perfectly normal for grown men to enjoy the Teletubbies because it talks about playing around and having fun. Harmless of course.

So basically you were closeminded towards the episode then, finding no premise to dislike the episode [b]before you even watched it, but still managing to poison your mind hitherto watching the episode because it's a "kid's show".

How on Earth do you come to that conclusion? God it's so easy for people to make an argument when then can just make wild assumptions.

You can say that about a lot of shows and movies.

Bad shows and bad movies...

Oh, and I drew that conclusion because you said it... Lemme just remind you:

I can't explain exactly why I didn't like the episode, I simply didn't just like I don't enjoy any kids shows.

You generalized it as a kid's show, and because you don't like any other kid's shows then automatically you were not going to like this one.

It seems you have this mentality:
I don't like handguns -> I don't like automatic guns -> I don't like weapons of any kind -> I will never buy a weapon because I don't like these things.

When you put it this way:
I don't like F1 race cars -> I don't like trucks -> I don't like tricycles -> I will never buy a vehicle because I don't like these things.

Don't generalize or prejudge things.

Woah woah woah since when did this become a hatefest?

Calm down guys! Just because someone likes something you don't, that does NOT make anyone a better or worse person, nor does it say anything about the person's state of mind.

I hate, I find disgusting, I can't understand how can someone like to go to parties, under dubstep music, doing the same movement over and over, for a whole friggin' night(0000->0600) and say "dude that was the best party EVER!"

I cannot understand what the hell is going on when people like to play League of Legends, or when people prefer Dawn of War over Starcraft/Warcraft.

I cannot understand why would someone love someone of the same sex.

Yet I live with homossexuals, DoW/LoL players, and all-night dubstep "dancers" without hating or disliking them. People are the way they are.

As it happened on the first few thirty pages, it is going on again, and only one thing I ask:

It doesn't matter that you don't like this, it doesn't matter that you think it sucks. Just don't hate on people for what they are; respect them just like they should respect you.

EDIT
For the record, if someone likes Telettubies, there is nothing wrong with it. Although I do agree the show is TOO childish(almost to the point of brain damaging-childish), it's their way and it's their taste, it's not like people are forbidden to like things they like.

Hm... the dialogue thing...

I watch House because of the dialogue. End of story. The show has its own set of flaws, and its definitely stagnated in recent seasons, so now the next season will be its last... but as long as the dialogue keeps making me smile, I'll keep watching.

I also watch Burn Notice... certainly not for the dialogue. Not even for the characters, which are a tad bit 2D for me. Plus, the shows are formulaic as all heck (as is House). I just watch it because it's fun to see what random spy stuff Michael comes up with, and it manages to somehow hold my interest with the over-arching plot.

When I first saw Big Bang Theory, I thought it was stupid. Since my dad and my sister were both watching it every week though, I started watching it as well... and just recently I watched every season online. I'd say this one is probably a character driven show... it's not quite as simple as I-watch-Whose-Line-because-it-makes-me-laugh

/end random rant

Watched one of the episodes, not a fan. Not a fan of any cartoons since I've grown up so it's not surprising. Now, off I go to clear any browsing history mentioning MLP - something once only reserved for porn.

I can't say "this is 100% proven to be messed up", but like everyone, I look at the world and I make judgements.

Hmm, a guy plays videogames, that's normal.
A girl plays videogames, more uncommon but still normal.
A 30 year old watches a show designed for little girls? Strange of course. A concern to me.
A 65 year old man likes to stab pictures of people and he enjoys it? Hmmm... Quite a concern.

I am ashamed to have written a criticizing post with such proximity to your criticizing trolling post.

And for the record, my previous girlfriends would have all been amused by the prospect of my enjoying the show (if I had enjoyed it) and would have been happy to discuss it.

Given that my gf has a bit of a background in psychology, she might be amused be she would be very concerned for my mental health

Don't need to be Freud to see that there's something funny going on with people who enjoy shallow stories filled with cute female-animals.

I'm pretty sure it's not against the law to like anything. Except in fiction, where it's possible to punish thoughtcrime.

But yeah, I agree, enjoying a show about ponies is undeniable evidence of an imbalanced individual. Oh wait.

Anyway, you go ahead and keep thinking that it's wrong to like things you don't like, and the rest of us will keep watching ponies <3

1- I never said it was illegal
2- I never said it was undeniable evidence
3- I didn't say it was "wrong"

You must think arguing is easy when you don't even have to address the points made by the other person in favor of just inventing stuff like you do. It's called strawman arguments.

You said we put people in jail for liking things they're not supposed to. That would mean it's illegal to like certain things. Therefore, you said it was illegal.

Well no.

Show nested quote +
You drew the conclusion that two people were imbalanced based on liking a show. Drawing conclusions requires evidence. Therefore, you said you had evidence that certain individuals were imbalanced.

No such conclusion was made, it was suggested.

Show nested quote +
You didn't say "wrong" in your last statement, but you used "funny" instead. In context, "funny" implies abnormality and deviancy. Wrong is often used in conjunction with these terms, and it's a lot shorter.

Some people like feet. It's a deviancy and it's not wrong.

Show nested quote +
Unless you didn't mean anything you said, I argued against the points you made. No strawman arguments here.

You misinterpret everything in order for it to be easy to dismiss.

Basically, you're saying that what you wrote isn't what you meant. However, I cannot read your mind. I can only go by what you wrote. My counters were to the words that you typed in your post and the meanings that those combinations of words held. If you meant something other than what you said, which is becoming evident, then perhaps you should just say what you mean the first time you put your thoughts into words. Otherwise, you just look silly.

But I'm going to go ahead and respond anyway.

1. People can't go to jail unless they've been convicted of an illegal activity. If people have been put in jail for liking certain things they didn't like, as you claimed, then it must be illegal for people to like certain things. Therefore, you claimed it was illegal for people to like certain things. I don't know how I can spell this out more clearly.

2. Here's what you said: "Provided you're not outright lying about this highly implausible scenario, the both of you seem to be highly imbalanced people." I guess you could claim that you were merely suggesting that two people had mental disorders based on the fact that we both enjoyed a television show, but it seemed (see what i did there?) that you were pretty convinced that it was a fact. Even if you were "suggesting" it, how can anyone seriously consider a hypothesis of "two people are suffering from mental illness, and I think this because they like a certain television show".

3. I guess you would also classify homosexuality as a deviant behavior, but it's not. Neither is foot-fetishism. Sorry to disappoint you.

I'd be more concerned for someone who watches Dexter than for someone who watches MLP - I mean, one show is about a serial killer and the other is about ponies and friendship. See the difference?

Obviously there is an issue for the "stabber" in your case. But not because he likes doing that - because of the possibility of him wanting to grow this into something actually physical.

Ponies are harmless. It's a show about friendship. If there is anything that should scare someone here, is the fact that the world could be a place with less violence if people like the show more.

Since most of what you're saying is largely useless and other people have been able to offer a better discussion, you can leave or discuss with other fine folks. I'll address this last point. People can define deviance however the hell they want, I don't think there's a definition that's like "Here's an exhaustive list of deviant behaviors: LIST..."

Deviance = not the norm and since there's no fixed percentage for "norm" I guess I can say that foot fetishists are deviants in a way. I don't see that as a negative at all, to me there's no negative connotation to that.

How on Earth do you come to that conclusion? God it's so easy for people to make an argument when then can just make wild assumptions.

You can say that about a lot of shows and movies.

Bad shows and bad movies...

who are you to judge good and bad? How can something enjoyed by anyone be considered bad. I could say every show you watch is bad, how do you accurately argue against this?

I can't say "this is 100% proven to be messed up"l, but like everyone, I look at the world and I make judgement.

Well people of little intellect are harmless and have full blown career at Mcdonald's. It doesn't have to be harmful to be a little bit sad.

You see, I'm not sure why the third example would be all that concerning. Without any context it can sound more strange than it is, since most girl's cartoons are awful. Sure, it's a children's cartoon. That doesn't automatically make it terrible. I can still enjoy something like DuckTales, for example, do you think it's concerning as well? You might point out that it's not a girl's cartoon, but I don't think it's necessarily relevant, as long as it's well done. (Unlike older MLP cartoons, for example.)

Well no.

You drew the conclusion that two people were imbalanced based on liking a show. Drawing conclusions requires evidence. Therefore, you said you had evidence that certain individuals were imbalanced.

No such conclusion was made, it was suggested.

You didn't say "wrong" in your last statement, but you used "funny" instead. In context, "funny" implies abnormality and deviancy. Wrong is often used in conjunction with these terms, and it's a lot shorter.

Some people like feet. It's a deviancy and it's not wrong.

Unless you didn't mean anything you said, I argued against the points you made. No strawman arguments here.

You misinterpret everything in order for it to be easy to dismiss.

3. I guess you would also classify homosexuality as a deviant behavior, but it's not. Neither is foot-fetishism. Sorry to disappoint you.

I do believe sexual deviance is a bit better defined, better known as paraphilia.

You generalized it as a kid's show, and because you don't like any other kid's shows then automatically you were not going to like this one.

It seems you have this mentality:
I don't like handguns -> I don't like automatic guns -> I don't like weapons of any kind -> I will never buy a weapon because I don't like these things.

When you put it this way:
I don't like F1 race cars -> I don't like trucks -> I don't like tricycles -> I will never buy a vehicle because I don't like these things.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's easy to dismiss my comments as useless when you have no response. But thank you for apologizing.

Also, there's a very specific clinical definition of deviance. You can't just say it's whatever you want it to be.
