I have to admit that I find it particularly funny how even every fan admits that MaximusBlack sucks at playing SC2 but instantly tries to cover that up by saying he has a great personality....whatever that even means in MaximusBlack's case. What I give him is that he's an extremely extroverted personality with the strong tendency to fool around and overvalue himself by talking smack on others. What the great thing about that is is beyond me though.
And even if he'd have a great personality...tons of people have that. What's that worth for Sc2? Being a great personality AND being good at Starcraft is something worthy for the scene. What's next? Justin Timberlake and Rihanna playing Starcraft because they are such great singers (lol) and personalities even though they are silver? Sounds retarded to me.

Call me elitist. I sure as hell am but that's a thousand times better than being appealed to a fouling jerk instead of somebody with skill who might not be as outgoing.
I'm basically disgusted by a scene in which the top athlets struggle to make a living while complete jerks and clowns make tons of cash. Everybody who thinks this is good for the SC2 scene is totally wrong. It might be good for the likes of MaximusBlack but sure as hell not for the reputation of SC2 and it's exposure as a serious competitive eSport. If Sc2 goes down MaximusBlack will just move to LoL and have the same retards who would even watch him take a shit watching him but the effort and energy people put into being superb at the game and excel at tournaments will be completely wasted.
For example I just watched Taeja playing protoss on his stream and he played ten times better than MaximusBlack ever could and owned a korean Top 1 Master Terran in a macro game going up to 5 bases. His mechanics are that sound that even though he's offracing he plays better than somebody (MaximusBlack) who has supposedly dedicated himself to getting into Grandmaster league and is working hard according to his unpretentious fans. I'm wondering how hard Taeja has to be working......
yet he only gets about 1500 viewers which is as much as MaximusBlack gets. Hard work really pays off I gues.........

But that is how the majority of people is and why humanity ultimately deserves the suffering it has to endure.

"The majority is never right. Never, I tell you! That’s one of these lies in society that no free and intelligent man can help rebelling against. Who are the people that make up the biggest proportion of the population—the intelligent ones or the fools? I think we can agree it’s the fools, no matter where you go in this world, it’s the fools that form the overwhelming majority." - Abraham Lincoln

You actually took the time to tell us that we are too easy to impress? Or that there is one right way to judge stream content – yours?
You don't choose to play zerg. The zerg choose you.

Dude, anyone who says he is top 5 masters is actually just factually incorrect.

I don't think anyone of note would say that to begin with...

Grats jeff, wish you the best for 2013.

As for the haters, I really don't get it. Fine don't like the guy but this is great for the scene. Maximus gets good practice partner and an organisation behind him to do extra content, etc and on the other end we have a NA team that gets a lot of exposure and they will grow and be able to support more NA players in the future.. the way I see it this is win win

I think people don't actually understand how little money players make. For players who play hours a day and try to actually achieve something in the game and go unrecognized unless they win an MLG to have to watch all the "personalities" make all the money in the scene, what are they supposed to think?

To be successful in this game has very little to do with skill. You want to know why there's no NA talent? Because even if you're as good as the Koreans; you won't get as much as they do from foreign teams. You won't get as much as casters. You won't get as much as personalities like MB. There's no point in playing this game. The only team that actually seems to understand that is complexity. They actually have a program to develop players and try to support them, other teams don't and then wonder why the player pool is so small.

Why are the Koreans better? Because there's tons of team houses and even practice houses for lesser tiered players. There is a realistic way to support yourself through the game. If you're good you can have all of your living expenses paid for and focus on nothing but SC2. For a foreigner, unless you're incredibly outgoing and likeable with an expensive computer and sick internet to stream, you don't have any of that. You have to support yourself, know that you're probably not going to make any money from the game, and still have a positive mindset to play and practice just as hard. But even if you're on level with the Koreans they're going to make more than you for the simple fact that they're Korean...from foreign teams. It's a joke.

e/ so I ask you, how is MB getting into a team good for anyone but him? How does recruiting a sub-tier Korean and a personality help the NA scene / players? MB doesn't exactly have a reputation of helping out the teams he's been on anyways.

e/2 Then think of the teams like EG who pay some of their players over 100k a year. They have enough money to pay players that much and yet the vaaaaaast majority of foreigners are getting under $300 a month. It's such an idiotic system that is horrible for the growth of American SC2. You have tournaments paying casters more than the actual prize pool, you have rich teams just throwing money away that could go to developing SC2 in America like they have no clue. SC2 could be so much more and it wouldn't be hard to do yet you see all the things that make absolutely no sense coming from the people who matter. Take a 20th of what EG pays Stephano and you could literally pay for every NA players Salary who's on salary outside of EG/TL members.
