That's why I don't get why guys like MaximusBlack are popular. If I want to be entertained in a more "casual" way, so to speak, I'll just watch TV or hang out with friends. To each his own I suppose.

Maximus isn't even a particularly good player - he's decidedly mediocre. And frankly, I don't watch starcraft to watch mediocre players.

edit: Too much negativity in the thread for my taste. Not everyone can be a top player. It's also not always about the play, but the personality and the overall content quality.

I watch the stream on a regular basis mainly because of the lack of other protoss streams ![]() If Naniwa or elfi is online i'll prefer that because of the quality of play. MB is a mediocre player who even yesterday falls back to his 4gate all-inns when he loses a few times. He is way way way way far off the level of play of the top 20 protoss players. Other stunning thing...not watching his own replays.. -_-' didnt see a single game where he would watch what he did wrong. Let's hope he can improve his game, otherwise he is mainly on the team for exposure.

He's been coached by pros (like when he was being coached by desrow in person for a good while), etc.. Should be like a minimum of top 5 masters/low-gm at this point. He has been top 5 masters for about a week now.

While you have hundreds of pros/semi-pros competing for the same kind of viewer base, MB doesn't have to worry because his viewers are loyal to the CORE. He has a perfect niche which he's managed to capitalize on. Anyway, I also wouldn't count MB out as a potential player. He'll never play in the GSL or place very highly in any major tournament, but with his work ethic (plays 6 hours a day) he definitely has what it takes to be a respectable contender.

That doesn't explain at all though why people feel the need to donate money to him instead of giving it to players who actually DO SOMETHING WORTHWHILE. I also watched his stream in the beginning because he had pretty high ambtions. I have no idea what is even remotely entertaining about him. Aside from cheesy mediocre play he talks down everybody who beats him because everything is OP that is not protoss. I genuinely quit his stream and never come back after seeing him going for some completely retarded ballsack ceremony in which he put a teabag on his pants and held it in the camera. People have to have REALLY LOW STANDARDS to be even remotely entertained by him. I dra for example has the bm and the rage but he also has remarkable skill. MaximusBlack has....welll...nothing. People have different opinions on things. Mindblowing, isn't it.

It's not actually very complicated, and I fear you have a very shallow understanding of the world if you don't. Surprise, other people don't take your own values into account in their decisions. The fact that you are only entertained by watching high level SC2 means nothing to anyone, ever. Get used to this fact or you will be continuously confused and annoying.

That Maximus viewers are easy to impress? Why did you post in this thread in the first place if you are not interested in MaximusBlack?

As for the haters, I really don't get it. Fine don't like the guy but this is great for the scene. Maximus gets good practice partner and an organisation behind him to do extra content, etc and on the other end we have a NA team that gets a lot of exposure and they will grow and be able to support more NA players in the future.. the way I see it this is win win

To try and knock somebody for that just makes you look like the clown. So, please, go be a joke elsewhere. I'll be over here, playing the game I love, watching I personality that I enjoy. You, sir, I believe, have quoted the wrong person. If, however, you believe that what I have said means that I'm "trying to knock somebody" -- I am not. On the contrary. I see a few things in MaximusBlack that irritate me or annoy me (as in: being a clown; I simply don't feel attracted to this, never have), but let me repeat my post from a previous page of the thread: I deeply admire his conviction and determination, and for this reason I consider myself his fan. And I truly believe that his appeal to the casual gamer will pay back greatly to the community in the long run.

To all the people refusing to understand why people watch his stream; people have different tastes and opinions, you are going to need to get over this. Why don't you hate on people for liking fast food, or football/soccer or certain types of music as well as MB. Some people enjoy watching him, as other people enjoy watching football, or eating fast good or listening to, in my opinion terrible ^^, pop music, and you are just going to have to accept that fact.

And even if he'd have a great personality...tons of people have that. What's that worth for Sc2? Being a great personality AND being good at Starcraft is something worthy for the scene. What's next? Justin Timberlake and Rihanna playing Starcraft because they are such great singers (lol) and personalities even though they are silver? Sounds retarded to me. Call me elitist. I sure as hell am but that's a thousand times better than being appealed to a fouling jerk instead of somebody with skill who might not be as outgoing. I'm basically disgusted by a scene in which the top athlets struggle to make a living while complete jerks and clowns make tons of cash. Everybody who thinks this is good for the SC2 scene is totally wrong. It might be good for the likes of MaximusBlack but sure as hell not for the reputation of SC2 and it's exposure as a serious competitive eSport. If Sc2 goes down MaximusBlack will just move to LoL and have the same retards who would even watch him take a shit watching him but the effort and energy people put into being superb at the game and excel at tournaments will be completely wasted. For example I just watched Taeja playing protoss on his stream and he played ten times better than MaximusBlack ever could and owned a korean Top 1 Master Terran in a macro game going up to 5 bases. His mechanics are that sound that even though he's offracing he plays better than somebody (MaximusBlack) who has supposedly dedicated himself to getting into Grandmaster league and is working hard according to his unpretentious fans. I'm wondering how hard Taeja has to be working...... yet he only gets about 1500 viewers which is as much as MaximusBlack gets. Hard work really pays off I gues......... But that is how the majority of people is and why humanity ultimately deserves the suffering it has to endure. "The majority is never right. Never, I tell you! That’s one of these lies in society that no free and intelligent man can help rebelling against. Who are the people that make up the biggest proportion of the population—the intelligent ones or the fools? I think we can agree it’s the fools, no matter where you go in this world, it’s the fools that form the overwhelming majority." - Abraham Lincoln

Shortly thereafter, we played him in the IPTL QIM lineup and it somehow got mixed up.
