They always are, of course, but this time it's somewhat different, like an attempt not to scare the newbies away from voting for them. There's no pressure applied, just polite strategy and policy discussions. There's nothing wrong with this but it almost feels like the game hasn't started yet. And in a way, it hasn't. I don't think that you've been tricked by anyone thus far just because no one has really made anything. BC leaves the impression of a man with a plan (although I don't agree with his DT strategy) and Youngmini appears to be doing some lame attempt to pressure Palmar. There's not much else for now. I would once again advise everyone to base their votes on what the major candidates do when they start hunting for mafia. that's kind of my point from earlier. I never played with elections so I'm used to hunting scum from the very first moment. Right now it's more of a "vote me I'm awesome" vs "no vote me I'm more awesome!" with some arguments that may or may not be correct. However given we're on day1 and noone putting pressure on someone because everyone is thinking about that election rather than hunting scum it's such incredible easy to look pro town without doing a thing at all because nothing you do can give you away if there's noone pressureing at all. Just smash a few buttons, get a campaign with a nice plan or idea behind it and yeah it might work out but we're totally losing day1 if it keeps going on like this.

*Insert 6 paragraphs of flavor to spam up the thread here* *Insert catchy slogan here* Last 9 games as town: Mafia XXXVII- Town win TL Mafia XXXVIII - Town win Pick Your Power Insane!- Town win Pick Their Power Mafia- Town win TL Mafia XLII- Town win Vigilante Mafia- Town win Pick Their Power Mafia 2- Town win Experimental Haunted Mafia- Town win Team Melee Mini Mafia - Couples Therapy - Town win Last time I lost a game as town: Feb. 2011 (chaoser flipped the queue, lets blame him) Statistical anomaly? Of course! But here is your chance to become part of the anomaly too! Kita's town winning percentage: .722 Flash's BW winning percentage: .718 Aaron Rodger's Completion percentage: .658 Ty Cobb's career batting average: .366 Therefore, Kita is superior to Flash, Rodgers and Cobb. Kita also talks about himself in third person apparently. Game specifics: I'll explain the day one lynch choice, rather than picking from a pool of inactives. I won't hold the double lynches hostage. With 8 mafia kp, we need to start reducing that from the start. I'm thinking with clues, a day 2 or 3 double lynch would probably be best. If you're going to breadcrumb, be really careful. Scum look for those. I won't pretend to get real emotional and mindlessly tunnel a player. I won't be a distraction to town. Haven't ever been lynched (and I can't blow myself up beforehand this time), so I play pro-town regardless of alignment. Sheriff should be protecting town, rather than denying mafia kp. Forces scum to shoot into less than ideal targets. The sheriff also protects players that would be double or triple stacked since they prevent all night actions. Town roleblockers should be aiming to deny mafia kp, rather than no shooting. The risk of roleblocking a blue is worth the reward. Don't talk about your role. That results in blue sniping. Vig/lurker bane should claim their shots right before the day post. Dts choose your own checks, don't follow others guidance. On November 24 2011 15:28 sandroba wrote: Also the clues that would point towards me are supposed to be ridiculously easy, since I didn't put anything on my profile, so if was scum no one would have a problem identifying it. Scum choose who shoots. If you were a scum mayor, why would a clue ever even point to you? Not sure who I'm voting for yet. Ideally someone who hasn't started their campaign yet.

Sinani206 – joke campaign? Redff – joke campaign #2? Prplhz – do like the suggestions for newbies and giving general advice to everyone. Would like to hear a more concrete plan though for scumhunt. Getting a good vibe from him (page 27) Palmar – wrote a novel in his first campaign post … don’t really care. Not liking the LAL policy it has never worked and won’t this time. “I will encourage scumhunting”, “I will discourage lurking”, “I will be aggressive and fair” not really telling me much compared to something like Prplhz’s campaign who gives concrete examples of what to do / not to do Sandroba – looking to hear more from him. His list on page 33 seem intriguing – I am wondering what he is saying about the GM not RNGing is credible though. Anyone to confirm? I would like to add also I’d expect at least 1 scum mayoral candidate as of this post. Xtfftc – not convincing enough. Might as well draw straws for mayor then BloodyC0bbler – a double edged sword. Played with him multiple times and he can really turn the tide on either side. Has the most concrete and sensible plan so far out of all the candidates which leads us to have the most information coming out of night 1. I do fear for the chance he is scum though so I’d rather have him in the Sheriff role as somewhat of a failsafe. A weapon no matter what role he is in. Erandorr – “I will be active and try to push town in the right direction.” Would like to see more confidence from a mayor. Don’t think he really stands out from the other candidates Don’t really like the fact that people running for mayor keep posting big pictures kind of annoying -_- As a player who hasn’t played with most of you veterans – unfortunately I don’t want to go through the trouble of looking through all your past games to learn about you. As town I want to see a candidate with a plan – I’m taking what you guys say about each others past games with a grain of salt essentially. Especially in such a massive game I want a mayor who’s not just a figure head or someone to keep alive but able to guide the town in the right direction through the duration of the whole game. Would also like to know (as per Jackal) how first lynch will be determined from some of the other candidates. Will keep my vote for now but right now I have 1. Prplhz 2. BloodyC0bbler 3. Sandroba

I wouldn't be surprised if either of those 3 are mafia, but I also wouldn't say its almost 100%. It also depends on if the mafia team was completely RNGd or selectively picked. This touches on my main point. I get a slight scumread on anybody who says "Vote for me so I can have power because I'm good so you can trust me with the power". Anybody who wants Mayor for power seems slightly scummy to me. BC doesn't want mayor for power, he wants it to lead town. I actually have a slight scumread on Palmar. I really don't like how his main basis is "I'm good, vote for me." Mayor will attract scum, especially good scum who will be able to prevent themselves from being lynched. As mentioned before, a good player capable of avoiding being lynched will be nigh unkillable with mayor.

I'd rather let mafia narrow down the vet list, at least early on. Of course that is not to say lynching an obviously scummy vet shouldn't be lynched, but I think whoever gets elected should keep this in mind. Around 33 out of 80 have posted since the game began. I don't think anybody's seriously talking about lynching vets right now, only weighing the dangers of voting a scumvet mayor.

Does it really make a difference? Also, how do you think the lynching should go? Talking out a few of the slightly experienced players lurking, or possibly a few new players because of 1-2 posts of theirs? Or is it too early to talk about lynching methods until we have our elections done?

Based on the past few pages I've read: I don't want to vote for BC. His DT plan seems really useless and a great way to tunnelvision the precious few DTs that we have. I don't want to vote for xfftc cause his laid back attitude towards mayor position means that if he's mafia, he could just sit back all game and be a real pain to get rid of. Palmer.. I think is the most interesting person at the moment to consider for mayor spot. He (she?) is very vocal this game and apparently one of the better players here. I'd much rather vote for a veteran who's active rather than a okay player who's not as vocal. However, some of Palmer's statements make for really bad arguements.. Like this one: On November 24 2011 22:51 Palmar wrote: The goal for this game is to win. I feel the best course of action is to secure someone I trust for the mayor spot. I happen to trust myself. but at the moment I believe he's the best choice based on the fact that he will be one of the most vocal players throughout this game and if he's town, it'll be really helpful to keep him alive through the mayor spot and if he's scum, he's leaving behind a huge trail of posts. Not completely sold yet, but I will keep my vote on him until I see a better candidate fit to be mayor.

I like the people who are able to discuss things while making sense. The only thing I don't like about Palmer at this point is his "vote for me because I'm good" policy, which honestly isn't terrible but I'd like to see a concrete plan suggestion from him before casting a vote. Would it be a good idea to wait a bit to vote and if someone starts running away with the mayor vote, make an effective vote for sheriff instead? Thanksgiving Day is going to be pretty hectic at my house so I'll have to check in again in the evening (and I expect a considerable amount of additional campaigning will have been done at that point so I can make a more informed vote).

Anyways I would like to let out a word of caution to all the newbies, Be wary of policy posts and the like. they are very easy for both town and mafia to do because they require no analysis, yet it makes them look very "pro town" So far I think i support BC the most, the way palmar's campain is only focused on his abilites in past games and hypotheticals really worries me.
