The VAs were just too good imo. You got the Yuichi Nakamura, Daisuke Sakaguchi duo again. Sprinkle some Lucy Yamagami and you got at least a decent show. Maybe I liked it just because it was mystery, almost like Detective Conanish.

Well, it just happens that Madoka, despite being a Magical Girl show, has a dark story. The ED song/animation should give you a hint. Magical Girl shows don't have to be sugary sweet all the time; even Sailor Moon got serious every so and then (S, Sailorstars).
Madoka's story was written by Urobuchi Gen, who also wrote fate/zero.
Speaking of Madoka, I got to see the third movie in a local theater. Visually it was pure fan service (as in production value) and the plot twist was very shocking. I'd say it is comparable to The Empire Strike Back without knowing there is Return of the Jedi.

Then you realize it is more like Episode 1, made just so that you can sell another 2 movies from the franchise.

Just don't insult the genre with Hyouka, a fan of mysteries or not, it deserves better than to be associated with that series.

interested in some mech anime and romcom. If anyone has any good ones, please feel free to recommend. I'm thinking of mobile suit gundam 00 so far since I liked what I saw from the quick glimpses and such.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica ep 6
+ Show Spoiler +what in the world of fuck ! SOULGEM . That thing was literally a soulgem ! Its no object with a fancy object that provides power with a "girly name". Its literally what its name is. How did i not predict it. The SOUL in the GEM. ok this show is hardcore.
And i love how subtle the show is showing how evil the cat with large ears is.
