Gundam Seed + Gundam Seed Destiny(i cant think of any good gundam series .. just bear with the overly dramatic protagonists)
Code Geass (has mecha but also a little bit of magic)
Eureka 7 (never seen it but i never remember this show receiving bad feedback and most of the time highly rated)
RomCom:
Toradora(super tsundere and like a househusband male protagonist)
LovelyComplex(tall girl + short boy + they both bash each other all the time)
Full Metal Panic(combination of romcom + mecha .. Fumoffo(season 3 of the show) is crazy funny even some people watch FMP for the sake of watching fumoffo)
My little monster or Tonari no Kaibutsu(ice queen + really crazy male protagonist .. all supporting characters are not boring)
Some odd RomCom:
Bakemongatari (just ignore the plot and enjoy the wordplay between Senjougahara and Araragi and god the ED theme is amazing)
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (kyon + Haruhi is entertaining to watch .. although the romance is subtle and the show is really weird and its sci-fi.. so you may or may not like it .. a lot of people swore they hated this show(mostly female viewers) and it also has a really huge fanbase which you can count me in that)

00 has a great first season. After that, watch on your own risk. If you want both robots, romance and comedy at the same time, FMP is the way to go.
Break Blade is another good one for mecha.

Madoka and her Black Knight, damn thats a cool design. tbh Squall has a good one too. To be expected from the "bad guys"
Episode is mainly action, but near the end chat between tabane and unknown person got me interested. And cause its IS there must be something involving ichika and his harem...
Ending is awesome with the cast in different outfits <they were showcased in previous episodes but i only noticed that now cus im not watchin op's and ed's>

Okay I've got to say I'm someone who really likes light hearted stuff in general so if you're not that way it's probably nothing for you but always watch Baka test (Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu) if you haven't already and you're looking for romcom.
It feels retarded at first but once you ignore the fact that it makes no sense and therefore feels like watching Yugioh in the sense that there's no chance they should "win" until some random fact / strategy gets pulled out of their asses that will never get another mention EVER AGAIN later on, it's actually a nice watch.
If you're okay with that and treat it as part of the commedy it's a hilariously good watch for a romcom. Cutesy, childish and really funny. The male VA was pretty awesome as well.
Yes I am aware that I'm sounding like Emjay here but I really liked it for just being straight that way and not some pseudo smug anime.

What, in Destiny? They just reused stockfootage from all the way back in SEED for every battle, which was also over used in it before they even got to Destiny.
SEED gets a lot of hate long with Destiny, but thats mostly because of PTSD. Its the same reason almost every "Hirai face" gets hate. Destint too stronk.
Bigfan, don't bother with mecha, its a bad genre, you have already seen everything it has to offer with Gundam Wing.

You people have awful taste, watch 00 first season, I would be skeptical about watching the second though it's not as bad as Destiny (Fuck you Shin). Also the same kind of goes for Code Geass but I still think the 2nd season is not BAD just meh, Eureka seven is awful, if you want action this isn't it, it's basically a slice of life in a flying ship and from time to time a mecha shows up. Escaflowne is sort of mecha and it's good enough, I would also suggest Gurren Lagann if you haven't seen it, one of my favorites and it's pretty mecha I think. Last I think you should watch Macross Frontier (awesome stuff with good music), Macross Zero, pretty good and Macros Plus which is even more awesome with great music. AND stay the fuck away from Macros 7, what a pile of crap.
PS: FMP is so bad... except for that one funny episode. Watch Gundam the 8th ms team instead, this one is actually good.

Mecha as a genre is kinda bad, but mechas make any anime they're in better. It's a kind of "Awesome Factor" thing.
