KenZoku + allies just lost a cap fleet (or a big chunk of it 9 Dreds, and 3 Carrier) in 1Y-IU.

update: Turns out the first draft of this was posted before the fight was over.

They're still losing capitals actually, you're posting about this while the smashing is still going on. :p

5/15 Update

+ Show Spoiler +
when we last left our heroes, they had forgotten to log in

thankfully being kicked repeatedly in the genitals is a great way to wake up goons!

Originally by: 5/15
Goons, you have done us all proud. Sometimes I forget that we get our greatest turnout spikes after being kicked in the balls hard; unlike other alliances, welps inspire us to ****. With an uncountable number of you showing up in US TZ last night (we had 300+ friendlies at one point, who knows how many of those were goons but at least 200) we stopped the RKZ assault in its tracks.

I really should do a whole new war update thread to explain the strategic implications of I1Y. That'll be in a few moments. Short version: It's right by empire so very easy for RKZ to do logistics; 49 is much harder for them to do logistics, and 3BK is useless for this. It'd be another station for them. Worse, it would make an easy midpoint for -A- and SE capitals, and without A and SE involved RKZ is hosed - and they know it.

RKZ's plan is simple: use ****ty pets to spam our bridge systems and burn out our logistics crew, while blobbing I1Y. You can help stop this by volunteering to help out GSOL and Daitengu's new group, GFFL.

To this end, RKZ spammed I1Y, had EXE spam MKD and FI spam ZXJ. MKD is a Querious bridge to empire, ZXJ is the main artery to Period Basis. GSOL responded to these threats by simply dropping more towers; help them out by pushing butan and getting these ****stars set up correctly.

Today, Tormentum (I leave out the spaces in their alliance name as a kindness to these wretches) began to drop towers in A-B, another critical Querious bridge system.

After 0wning in US TZ and repping all our towers, we reinforced every hostile tower in I1Y. We also ****caged the Barbie formup tower; they changed the pos pw, locking out their 'friedns'. Oops!

After downtime, Shadoo has been leading a LR HAC gang to blow up RKZ, wreaking havoc. As of right now our jammer in I1Y is up, but hostiles do have caps logged off in system with which they will probably down it later.

Tonight will be a MASSIVE FIGHT for I1Y. Hostiles have regroups set for 22:00. We have 25+ towers on the line. If we do not obliterate the enemy, we'll lose the system; if you can only show up one night this weekend to play spaceship games, make it tonight.

after i wrote this we hotdropped rkz while they were trying to take down the i1y jammer, killed some dreads, then re-onlined the jammer, nbd~

The op is the summary. Eve is that type of game. It's worth reading though, even if you have to do it a bit at a time.

The OP is the summary

This thread covers whats been going on for many months and its all important to understanding the current situation the game is in now. EVE is a game which simulates war in real time very well. Its difficult to summarise what has happened in a way that wouldnt completely marginalise the events that have taken place. If you have the time, read through the op (you can skip the stuff in the quotes), its actually a very interesting read regardless of if you play EVE or not.

I strongly recommend reading it, since it's like a book, but more interesting and involving real life people.

But here are the Cliff Notes:

map of EVE before it all began

- The most powerful alliance in EVE, Band of Brothers ("BoB"), sends a guy to be a spy in SomethingAwful.com's Goonswarm alliance ("Goons").
- The spy finds he enjoys playing with the Goons more than with BoB, so he switches sides.
- He also happens to have very high access in BoB. In fact, he has the power to dissolve the alliance.
- The BoB alliance has very large defensive bonuses in their home space, Delve + Querious + Period Basis, in the southwest.
- The turned spy dissolves BoB, and they lose all of their defensive bonuses.

map of EVE after BoB is dissolved

- The Goons pack up EVERYTHING from their home territory in the southeast and leave for Delve. There is no going back: Delve will be their new home.
- The members of BoB reunite under a new alliance called KenZoku. However it will take them 30 days to re-earn the defensive bonuses they had before.

map of EVE shortly after BoB reunites as KenZoku

- Goons and their allies, the Northern Coalition ("NC"), storm into Delve + Querious + Period Basis.
- KenZoku and their allies do a terrible job of defending.
- KenZoku and friends move 99% of their ships into a single neutral-territory station in Delve.
- Goons and friends trap them in the station and proceed to camp it round-the-clock for an entire month.
- Goons and their allies hellpurge Delve and to a lesser extent Querious.
- They replace KenZoku's towers ("POSes") with their own POSes to gain "sovereignty" over the space. Holding sovereignty for a long period of time gives you numerous defensive bonuses.

map of EVE 2 weeks after the invsaion

(Note: because of the way the game's sovereignty mechanics work, the map often lags behind reality by 7 days. So even though it looks like the Goons have taken only a small bit of space, they actually have control of the majority of KenZoku's space.)

At about this point, the OP ends and this thread begins.

map of EVE 1 month after the invasion, at the start of March

- Finally KenZoku, with the help of Against All Authorities ("AAA") and their allies, break their ships out of the camped station.
- A lot of fighting happens (read this thread).
- Eventually all of Delve and most of Querious belongs to the Goons.
- More fighting happens.

map of EVE at the start of April

- AAA gets attacked in the southeast by the Goons' allies in the east: Legion of xXDeathXx, Red Alliance, Tau Ceti Federation (also part of the Northern Coalition), and United Legion.
- Red Alliance gets into a war with the Goons' (now ex-)allies, Intrepid Crossing and Ethereal Dawn ("IRC/ED").
- AAA and its allies fight off the invasion in the southeast and return to fight the Goons in Querious.
- More fighting happens.

map of EVE at the start of May

- Executive Outcomes and Frontal Impact, two KenZoku "pet" alliances, are finally purged from Period Basis, mainly by the Goons' allies, KIA Alliance and Zenith Affinity.
- KIA abandons its space in the north, moving to Period Basis entirely.

Current Fights:

(in order of size)

- KenZoku + allies and AAA + allies are fighting against Goons + allies in Querious.
- IRC/ED + Solar Fleet are fighting against Red Alliance and some former allies from the north (Majesta Empire and The Initiative) in Etherium Reach in the northeast.
- Triumvirate, which currently doesn't hold any space/sovereignty, is fighting against various alliances in the northwest, such as Tau Ceti Federation (TCF), Imperial Republic of the North (IRON), Mostly Harmless, etc.

Has mostly map info with some alliance info as well. Very useful for finding systems when people talk about them, e.g. if someone mentions "49-U" then you can search for it on this site.

Shows the most violent regions and systems. Basically tells you where fighting is currently taking place.

A Kenzoku battle report:
Spending majority of the day repping guns on towers in i1y without much action, so warped in bs's to work on the jammer.
Think we got it to around 80% before before they starting moving their titans close to the shields.

We warped out the battleships and took in like 12 dreads to snipe the jammer.
We went fuck it and entered siege on the jammer and it went down quite fast.

Around 10% left on the jammer hostiles offlined it and jumped in around 40 dreads on the tower.

Hostiles warped in support and kept our dreads bubbled, so we warped in bs's at snipe range and shot dictors and support.

Think we lost 8-10 dreads, not totally sure.

They forgot the 3 carriers (although he might be talking about how they lost ~7 in 7 minutes and 9 in ~10 or so)

Recent fghting:

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/system/I1Y-IU/kills (Querious)
Goons + RAZOR + MM just lost a lot of battleships to KenZoku + pets and AAA + pets. BS kill ratio was probably around 1:6 to 1:10 : very one-sided.

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/system/9CG6-H/kills (Querious)
Lots of small fights with smaller ships. This system has a Promethium moon, btw.

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/system/XB-9U2/kills (Etherium Reach)
Ongoing fighting in this Majesta Empire (formerly ED) station system. Recently, Solar Fleet got a ton of kills against Majesta Empire, including a # of battleships.

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/system/1H5-3W/kills (Etherium Reach)
An ED station system in their sov 4 constellation. RA have 2/4 of the stations in this const already and are fighting for the 3rd. Recently RA razed two ED POSes. The defending forces are IRC + ED.

A message from the Ex-Goonswarm-Leader Darius JOHNSON reposted from the Goon-Forum to CAOD. Comedy Gold.

When I retired only 3 weeks ago... I left Goonswarm in a state of its highest level of achievement. We had conquered Delve. BoB was dead. We were quite clearly in control of everything and had achieved, by virtue of my leadership and steadfast hand, strategic superiority the likes of which goonfleet has never seen. I had sacrificed a year of my life to make certain that this had been acheived. The dreams of Sesfan could not die with me and I would ensure their success.

In doing so I had to make sacrifices in my life. As a newlywed, my constant attention to Goonswarm put me in a position where the only way I could hold my marriage together was to impregnate my wife. She wanted a baby and I wanted a space empire. I took on an 19 year commitment because my eyes were on the prize and I expected that I had built a foundation which was unassailable. Oh boy was I wrong.

Since I have stepped back... Zapawork has "lead" you people on one ignorant errand after another. We're losing systems left and right. Capswarm is in dissaray. I didn't impregnate my wife so you people could ruin everything I created. As of now I am putting you people on notice. You have precisely ONE WEEK to shape the **** up or I WILL step in, remove zapa from power, and put this mother****er back on track.

I did not build this for you to **** it up via neglect. As soon as I return from my trip to the Phillipenes I will check back in.

This has been amazing to follow but... This game is sounding more and more insanely time consuming.
