If you don't mind me asking, how much do you spend on food a month? I've heard that it's very cheap to eat in Korea.

I usually spend around 100,000won (use XE.com to convert it :D) It can be extremely cheap to eat here if you don't buy your fruits and veggies from the big supermarkets (or you just eat cheap crap like ramen and kimbap.) I find that it's much cheaper to go to small market stalls for my veggies/fruit. A lot of imported items are expensive, but for things like pasta sauce, dressings etc it's not hard to find a much cheaper domestically made alternative.

If you're a healthy eater then you can make a very nice meal for less than 3,000won. (Such as grilled tofu in a marinade with some steamed vegetables. Plus a yogurt and/or some fruit for dessert.)

Fast-food is more expensive, but it's still pretty cheap to get a big meal. Eating out at Korean restaurants is the cheapest option though.

I'm sad to say that mine consists exclusively of Chicken, Tuna, fiber and vitamin supplements, and protein supplements/bars. =/ I never wrote that down before, but seeing it in print makes me want to go eat spaghetti.

I'm a impulse shopper I literally walk up and down every isle and just grab what looks good to me at the time, very inefficient but rather entertaining

Jesus ... 100,000 won is around 8,000 yen; I spend more on food a week. Every month I spend something like 35,000 yen on food, which is something along the lines of 430,000 won.

My friend lives in Korea and apparently he eats out every day just because he's too lazy to cook every meal. He said that you can get a full meal for something like $4 US, or fine Italian for $15 US. When I go out for good Italian I spend $60-$100 US minimum .

What I had today
Breakfast - 3 WeetBix
School - 0.5 kg of Gummi Bear, Chicken Sandwich, 2 Cereal Bars, an Apple and some Grapes.
After School - Family Chips, 1L of Soft Drink, Coffee
Dinner - Rice and Chicken

Lol, this sounds terrible! The Gummi Bear today was an exception, most of the rest is pretty normal. I'm a fairly skinny kid though, too much running.

Man you really need to cut that 1L of soft drink per day bullshit.

You're going to get diabetes no matter how much running you do.

ahaha what jstar said : P
Maybe not diabetes but you'll feel better without it

My shopping list might be interesting as I've researched diet a lot to help with my chronic fatigue syndrome : ) Most of the things on it I do my best to find organic/grass fed etc and eat a lot of it raw as much as I can, I eat very paleolithically :D

Broccoli
Kale
Capsicum (bell peppers)
Carrots
Almonds
Pumpkin seeds
Pecan nuts
Tuna (plain)
Red onions
Garlic
Spinach
Lemons
Apples
Blueberries
Coconut products (been looking into these lately, want to start consuming them and using them for my skin lol ^_^)
Tomatoes
Pumpkin
Liver
Chicken
Bone marrow
Hearts
Beef
And that's all I can think of

I've recently gone off all grains and my appetite is messed up now, used to be a huge rice eater being half filipino ahaha, anybody else had experience with this?

Been binge fast fooding lately so I've forced myself to abstain and go on an abstinence program. Fruit & Veg with some healthy nuts thrown in with plenty of water has been my diet for a week and I'm feeling great.

a typical shopping cart for me looks like this:

whole milk
eggs
cottage cheese
some sort of dead animal (mostly steak, skinless boneless chicken/turkey breast, ground beef, bacon and salmon)
salad
broccoli
zucchini
frozen raspberries
random fruits/vegetables that are in season

every other week I buy olive oil, aceto balsamico, butter, potatoes and white rice in bulk

if I feel naughty I buy some dark chocolate (80% cocoa)

what you will never find in my shopping cart:
pasta
bread
pastry
cereals
tofu
peanuts
soft drinks
