I linked 2400 RAM for less than what you're paying now last page, get that instead. Everything else looks fine, although there are better cases in that price range. Others might be able to refer better ones. Fractal design core 3000 comes to mind. The source 210 also seems to be mentioned a lot.

Edit: a USB WiFi adapter usually performs better than a PCI one, unless you can't afford to carry it around separately.

Hey guys, I've been looking to upgrade for a while and I put this build together - looking for ideas/suggestions. I'm buying this 100% for gaming, so didn't feel like 4770k was warranted. My budget is £1500, and I still need a keyboard and a mouse. I'll be transferring my 2x1tb over so I only need an SSD. Thanks.

Throw yourself something like a HR-02 Macho or step up further to the noctua u12s << u14s, nh-d14, silver arrow etc (last ones better)

Get yourself some of this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-017-SA (will do 2200cas11)

or this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-002-AR

Or something like them. Check if they'll fit under cooler if you get yourself a twin tower CPU cooler, the second one might not and most RAM with the useless heatspreaders will not.

In terms of CPU cooler; Temps WILL limit you. Haswell is hotter than ivy bridge, with one of those top 3 coolers under the right conditions (there's a lot of weird complicated stuff with haswell; you can't trust 9/10 of the temperature reports you read) you'd have a limit around 1.35v, if you had good case airflow and didnt mind absolute max of 90c. That might get 4.3ghz, might get 4.9, depending on luck etc. But stepping up to the HR-02 Macho is 100% worth it (because it's a negligible amount of money) and going up above that i think is a great choice unless you just want low OC

And the RAM, some nice 2200/2400+ will give notable gains over random 1600cas9, and its so easy to do, if you are spending £1.2k on a system and something gave you a performance increase of 10%, it'd have a performance per £ value of ~£120, but you can get it for like £20 in the form of some fast RAM, in many CPU bound cases

I don't mean pushing it past 4-4.2ghz really. Maybe when I grow some balls I will. And that thermalright is fucking huge.

But I think I'll get the samsung ram. Another friend of mine also suggested it.

Well, the Macho doesn't cover RAM or anything, there's no reason not to get it. Your temps will be hotter without and i wouldn't want to get some random no name cooler

I'm going to upgrade my computer, and when it comes to graphic cards I want to choose between:
AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition
nVidia GeForce GTX 770

Which one is better? I'm playing SC2, Dota 2, SW:TOR and DayZ.

I'd personally get the 770 100%, It's better, more power efficient, but you pay for it. I don't really like amd's offerings past the ~7850 right now. It's largely down to opinion, btw if you don't know what it is, google Nvidia Shadowplay.

Do you really need such a killer GPU for those games? The 770 is better than the 7970ghz and the 680, the flagship cards of "last" (still kinda current) gen.

Thanks for the answer, I'll probably buy the 770.
As of right now, I usually have to put everything on low graphics (only SC2 where I like to have all on low), so since I have to upgrade, I'll might as well get a good card :D

Because someone told me Corsair isnt very good RAM, I would like to switch to Crucial.

There are some alternaties and I need your help to choose the right one.

1: Crucial DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit, CL9, regular low profile, 1.5V
http://www.alternate.de/Crucial/Crucial DIMM_8_GB_DDR3-1600_Kit,_Arbeitsspeicher/html/product/1008044/?

2: Crucial DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit, CL8, regular low profile, 1.35V
http://www.alternate.de/Crucial/Crucial DIMM_8_GB_DDR3-1600_Kit,_Arbeitsspeicher/html/product/1043894/?

3: Crucial DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit, CL9, very low profile, 1.35V
http://www.alternate.de/Crucial/Crucial DIMM_8_GB_DDR3-1600_Kit,_Arbeitsspeicher/html/product/1043874/?

I will be using HR-02 Macho or, maybe someday, Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme.

Need help in this issue. Thanks in advance, guys.

Doesn't matter unless you're doing memory overclocking where the IC actually matters.

http://www.alternate.de/G.Skill/G.Skill DIMM_8_GB_DDR3-2400_Kit,_Arbeitsspeicher/html/product/1081003/?

Dont pick on brand name (like saying corsair is bad etc) just go straight for the meat*; Frequency, timings, voltage, price.

I can't read german but those seem to be acceptable kits if you want 2400 at only 10 euro more expensive. The G.skill one preferably, it's cas 11 vs 13 which is a big gap. There's probably others similar, i just looked at list quickly and grabbed two that seem not to have heatspreaders that will potentially get in the way of things. The G.skill 2400 cas11's at 71 euro for 8gb seems like a good example of what to look for

*unless you are more advanced memory overclocker, where you would look for other info

Hey, Cyro. Thanks for the RAMs, ye, I have seen em.
But I have just read you cant have 1.65V voltage, because Intel systems cant handle more than 1.5V. Is it true?

Official spec is 1.5v for the memory controller but that's pretty meaningless especially on more recent CPU's. 1.65v is a really standard voltage for high frequency and/or tight timing kits and you won't have any problems unless you go quite a bit higher

Thank you for this info.
I have just searched everything i could and
http://www.alternate.de/G.Skill/G.Skill DIMM_8_GB_DDR3-2400_Kit,_Arbeitsspeicher/html/product/1081003/?
is the best deal so far. I think I'll go with it.

Btw, Cyro, do you know if there is any difference in RAMs, when colors are blue and black?
Why am I asking this, is because sometimes there are 2 x blue and 2 x black slots on the mainboard. Does the color of the RAM matter or its just nonsense?

The colour of the heatspreaders on memory is just for aesthetic purposes. The motherboard slots are colour coded to indicate the channels so if you have two sticks, you should put them into the same colored slots.

Ive been reading (and still) about mice. Im not sure though what will be a good one for me.
Savu is nice as well. If Kone is in negative, I will go with Savu then.
Just need time reading about both.

Thanks, guys.

Edit#1: up until now I have been using mx518. So I didnt give up on G400/G400s, but G400s looks crazy. Not sure about its usability.

Savu is great in reviews. Kone is a gonner now. Very many negative reviews, complains, retours...whereever I read.

So now I have to decide between Roccat Savu and Logitech G400/400s. Nope 400s is gone as well.
So Savu vs G400.

Edit#2: considering to buy Beyerdynamic MMX 300 headset. 299,- (alternate.de)

I dunno how good the Savu is, because i focused more on my specific mouse choices, and those would focus more towards stuff like the g100s and the coolermaster storm spawn/xornet, but the kone just looked awful

I wrote a bit on pads a few pages ago, you should 1000% get a good mousepad and fix up settings to something decent (1:1 400-2000dpi for 1920x1080 without accel, probably better around 600-1400)

Storm spawn is not available in Germany. And G100 - I dont like it.
Yes, mousepad will be bought.
Windows accel will be off. Dpi will be around 1200.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't touch a single mouse except the Xornet ^.^

Edit: I personally like the 4HD over the QCK. I like the slicker feel over the cloth QCK, having owned both. It comes down to what type of feel you think you'd want though.
