Where can we watch the TSL?
You can tune in to one of our two streams provided courtesy of USTREAM. For the high-quality broadcast, please tune in to TeamLiquidTV. If your PC is unable to handle such a resolution, you can find same games live on the mirrored low quality stream. Streams will appear just below the calendar immediately preceding each broadcast.
If you are unable to watch the tournament live, VODs will be uploaded to the Official TeamLiquid Youtube Channel shortly after the casts are finished. You can watch the games spoiler free from the TSL3 VOD Thread here on Teamliquid as watching directly may not be the best method to avoid spoilers.
Which maps will be in the TSL3 map pool?
The final map pool for the TSL3 is as follows: Crevasse, Crossfire SE, Shakuras Plateau, Tal'Darim Altar, Xel'Naga Caverns, Metalopolis, and Terminus RE. Metalopolis has been edited to disallow close spawning positions by ground. Shakuras Plateau has been edited to allow cross position play only. The bottom of ramps have been modified to prevent easy wallling (e.g. with two bunkers). Our Blizzard ladder maps are the same as those used in MLG, and the GSL specific maps are the same as those used in the GSL. Special thanks to MLG's Lee Chen, and to Xeph and superouman for helping out.
We have published results and build order hider versions of TSL3 maps on the NA and EU servers. To play on these maps, simply search for "TSL" on the NA or EU servers. If you see a bug or issue while playing on these maps please let us know immediately through PM on TL or email.
What is the prize pool and prize distribution?
What is the format for this tournament?
The TSL3 will be a 32-man single elimination bracket. The round of 32 will be played in a best-of-3 format. The round of 16 and round of 8 will be played in a best-of-5 format. Semi-finals and the grand finals will be played in a best-of-7 format. Each player will thumbs down one map in each round before the Semi-finals, with maps being picked and ordered randomly following the thumbs down procedure. The Grand Finals will be played live at Teamliquid headquarters in New York City.
Live final in New York? Can I come to it!?
Sorry, but currently there are no plans to have a venue where fans can watch the final live. We may have a fan meet with the players before the final but no live audience. Maybe for TSL4!
What does the bracket look like? Is there a bracket contest, and how do I participate?
There is an Official TSL3 Bracket Contest. Entries are submitted through Liquipedia and scored automatically. You can participate by following the above link and following the instructions provided. The winner will get a Teamliquid T-shirt signed by the TSL3 winner.
Why are games cast from replays? Are the casts still live?
Games are cast from replays to provide for the best possible playing environment for players, aiming to minimize lag and maintain a level of fair play. We feel that live streams, even with a slight delay, open a window that could compromise the integrity of the game. Even the slightest risk is one we do not want to take with so much at stake. The casts are still done live, and every precaution is taken to keep the results from casters and fans.
So can we download the replays?
No, for a variety of reasons replays of official TSL3 games will not be available for download. Maintaining the name of the PokerStrategy.com TSL3 is not possible if we allow downloading of replays from the tournament, thus replays are not released. We cannot release the replays without relinquishing creative control of the tournament to third party casters who may or may not chose to properly credit sponsorship and tournament organizers. Keeping replays internal also keeps some level of privacy for the players who come up with new builds specifically for the tournament.
Preceding the finals players are playing from their homes from all across the world - how will cross-server play be handled?
NA vs EU - alternate servers, higher seed receives extra game KR vs NA - alternate servers, higher seed receives extra game KR vs EU - all games on NA (KR on EU is unplayable)
Why did you guys do invites for Korea / Asia?
We looked at the logistics of running TL Opens for Korea / Asia and decided that it was too complicated. Language barriers, time zones, and publicity are all huge challenges and we felt that for TSL3 we would not be able to run an open qualifier that was up to our standards. Maybe we can for TSL4, but definitely not now.
Why not allow everyone including Chinese/Koreans to join the TL Opens on US/EU?
We would have preferred doing something for everyone, but we have to be realistic. We are not ready and capable to deal with a hundred progamers playing our US-EU Open tournaments on borrowed accounts without us having a clue who is who. Such a tournament would be a logistical nightmare, with many players not able to communicate with their opponents or admins. Instead, we have chosen for a system that we know we can deliver on, and we will work to improve on it as we gain more experience. Everyone wants Chinese and Koreans to participate, including us. But right now, we're not ready.
From our standpoint it is a choice between an invite system for Korea / Asia or no players from there at all, so we chose invites.
What about the TSL2 abusers? Are they allowed to play in TSL3?
No, they are not allowed to play in TSL3, but they will be allowed for TSL4. If they attempt to smurf for TSL3 or play illegally, they will be given an even harsher punishment. You can read the thread about the TSL2 abusers here.
Tyler won the TSL2, taking home $10,000 and defeating players like Tarson, Idra, and Mondragon. He placed high in several MLG events in 2010 and currently plays for TLAF-Liquid.
Mondragon finished second in the TSL2, defeating players like Brat_OK, Fenix, and Sen. He was considered one of the best players outside Korea for Starcraft: Brood War. Mondragon is not "officially active" in Starcraft 2 but has played 500 games (3100 rated). He will be active and practicing for TSL3 -- he didn't accept his seed to just lose in the first round.
Sen finished third in the TSL2 and is currently one of the top international Zergs. He qualified for GSL3, where he advanced to the Round of 32 before losing in a close series with GSL2 Champion IM.NesTea. Sen currently plays for FnaticMSI.
Who drew that portrait of Tyler?
Glider, TL member since 2003, draws a lot of portraits. He's going to be doing a sketch of every single TSL qualifier. We'll be sending the originals out to the players -- yet another incentive to qualify! If you want to watch the Tyler portrait teaser again, here it is: + Show Spoiler [Video] +

How do I register for a TSL3 Qualifier?
We will be using the same procedure as previous TL SC2 Opens. Registration time will be announced, usually the Thursday before the tournament on Saturday. A countdown to registration will appear on the top of TeamLiquid. Registration links will appear in multiple news posts, as well as at the top of TL for the duration of the registration period. You can also access this by clicking on the "Tournaments --> TL Open" tab in the navigation bar. Early registration will be available for professional players.

If I win a tournament can I play in the others?
No, you cannot. You cannot secretly play under another name -- this will result in disqualification from the TSL and future TL events.
What about banned or previously disqualified users?
Banned users (for any reason) cannot enter these tournaments. Do not try to circumvent by creating smurf accounts. We will find you, and you will be disqualified from the TSL and future TL events. Additionally, previously disqualified abusers from TSL2 still serving out their punishments cannot play as well.
Can I enter all eight qualifiers?
Yes. Anyone who can enter one qualifier can enter all eight. You do not have to play all eight, but your chances increase as you play more.
Do the TeamSpeak TL SC2 Opens / TSL Qualifiers still have $200 prizes?
Yes. The TSL qualification and ranking points are additional prizes. The TeamSpeak TL SC2 Opens are stand alone events. If you qualify for TSL and do not wish to participate, you can decline and we will give the spot to the player with the next highest number of points.
What is the Map Pool for the TSL Qualifier tournaments?
Shakuras Plateau, Metalopolis, Xel'Naga Caverns, Lost Temple, and Scrap Station. Please note that Blistering Sands, Desert Oasis, Jungle Basin, Delta Quadrant, Steppes of War, and Kulas Ravine are removed from the qualification map pool.
What about hackers / cheaters / abusers?
Any sort of cheating may result in disqualification from the TSL and from future TL events. We take cheating very seriously, and we will hand out harsh punishments.
Who's going to qualify?
You. Good luck.

a little question: the 8 qualifiers will take place on the NA and EU servers, 4 each. every1 is allowed to participate in all of them. doesnt this implicitly mean that any1 without an account on his non-native server is at a massive disadvantage; not because of anything skill- or gamerelated but because they didnt/couldnt spend as much on sc2 as other who bought 2 copies? somehow this doesnt sound fair to me tbh....
I'm Korean and I live in Korea but I play exclusively on the NA server.. too bad I can't compete
btw, TL mods, if you read this... I can translate korean to english like nobody else. if you ever need to like... set that shiznit up i can probably help.
Is it possible for residents of NYC to come to watch TSL matches at TLHQ??? I would love to go watch it live in person rather than a stream. Would that be possible to happen??
On January 01 2011 14:21 Lovedrop wrote: How many people can the TLHQ hold ? I want to fly to NY for this.
Wondering the same thing. I live just outside the city. Are people allowed to go to the final? Are you guys renting out a place to hold the finals? I know the TL HQ is only a 3 BR apartment outside the city or something.
Is it against the rules to enter on more than one server? It seems like it should be, if only to not disadvantage the people who can't get their hands on an EU copy while living in the US, or vice versa.
Just as a clarification, the TLAF-Liquid in Korea and IdrA can't play the qualifiers, right? So they can only join through an invite? (That they would obviously get if I'm right)

This: I feel that players competing on multiple servers should have their points tallied seperately:
eg 7th place + 3rd place finish in NA does not stack with 4th place and 9th place in EU
They still get double the chances, but if they win point totals it's because they earned it, not because they grinded twice the tournies.
He will be active and practicing for TSL3 -- he didn't accept his seed to just lose in the first round.
Is that a bit of a dig at Draco or something?
No it isn't, we're simply explaining the circumstances.

It's legal for players to enter TLopens on both servers. Keep in mind that EU and NA TLopens are run at EU and NA convenient times (respectively) and that there is a small advantage by playing on your own server than the other server (in terms of delay). By performing consistently well on one server it is still likely than you will qualify.

Absolutely not, Draco was a very manner player and performed very well in the TSLs he played in, we have no issues with him at all. The phrasing is more regarding Mondragon's ability switching game to game, if he wasn't serious about SC2 he wouldn't accept his seed.

I thought about that too. And is acctually a pretty good idea.

I don't see how you could possibly think that having four extra opportunities out of eight total is not an extremely large advantage.
I am a bit confused and new to TeamLiquid. So how exactly do I qualify, do I send in a form for qualifaction, or something. How exactly do I join the tournament and play in it.

i'm really sad about the mappool, although you picked good maps (besides scrap and perhaps even LT) maybe add a custom map instead of one of these maps?

I'm confused and would like some more clarification as to the intent of inviting korean players. Korea already dominates pretty much every major tournament, it's been a huge benefit to the foreign community to have the TSL be foreigners only. What was the rationale for changing this? Wasn't the whole point of TSL to have a tournament for the players with less opportunity and support to play in major tournaments?
I have to say I'm really disappointed in this decision and will not be looking forward to seeing foreigners inevitably getting eliminated by players with significant more opportunity to earn money/exposure from playing starcraft because they live in korea. The simple reality is that most foreigners do not have the opportunity to move to Korea to practice and compete in the GSL, whereas players who already live in Korea have a much easier time of it.
None of this is new or any different than the reasons explained for excluding koreans from the other TSLs, so I'm very confused as to why this was changed. I at the very least would have appreciated being able to have somewhat of a voice/feedback in such a monumental change. Maybe this is silly, but I don't think I speak for just myself when I say feel like I'm a part of TL and thus feel a sense of ownership, that this tournament is collectively ours.
If that were all, it'd be different, but the korean players are being given a special invitation instead of having to place well in qualifiers. Is it fair that NA/EU players have to qualify while the korean players do not? If so, how/why? I really don't understand this at all, remember how huge TSL2 was and how many slots were fought for by the foreign community? and how many really good players weren't able to qualify? Now we're almost halving that number? What I said above about foreign players inevitably getting eliminated has already come true, in this context -- 13 players now will not qualify.
I'm genuinely concerned and disappointed and I'd appreciate a response. Thanks.
Integral: I kinda agree, TSL was the biggest foreigner tournament without doubt. But it has now changed to be a tournament that includes Koreans. To be fair I think the Koreans is going to demolish alot of the foreigners. And yeah, as you write, the TSL was "ours"(foreigners). That said, some of the foreigners can upset the Koreans as well, but most of them already live in Korea with harsh training regimes.
Would be nice with a clarification about why you have changed TSL to also include other than foreigners.
But this is a great announcement, and I think the tournament will be one of the best ever.
On January 01 2011 21:17 integral wrote: None of this is new or any different than the reasons explained for excluding koreans from the other TSLs, so I'm very confused as to why this was changed.
Because in Sc2, the best Koreans are slightly better than the best Europeans while in BW, every b-team member would've raped most non-Koreans with ease?
Foreigners are still perfectly capable of competing with Koreans in Sc2, even if they might be lagging behind.

Read the FAQ, the reason's because setting up TL opens for Korea would be a logistical nightmare. And there's the other side of it too, yes, some Koreans will be given a free pass into the tournament, but those aren't won't have an opportunity to qualify for the tournament, while every single foreigner has the chance to qualify.
On January 01 2011 21:17 integral wrote: I'm confused and would like some more clarification as to the intent of inviting korean players. I'm not sure what major tournaments Koreans have been dominating, besides Korean tournaments. The Korean players that have participated in foreign events have not done so well, unless you're counting Jinro (who hadn't made his GSL run yet) and IdrA (who has always been considered a foreigner, even in previous TSLs.)
The Kaspersky Invitational was really the first where they've showed up, and that wasn't as high level.
I think its more the principle of the matter that integral is referring to. The TSL being foreigner only gave a huge cash tournament for the foreigners while the Koreans always have big money incentives. I don't think its fair to say it was just the skill differential for why Koreans were banned previously.
On that note though, I think TL's justification is striving to be the next OSL essentially. They are constantly talking about growing, and expanding the site and I imagine if you really want to grow and your site/business is based around a game played heavily by Koreans it doesn't make much sense to ban them from your tournament.
Although if you agree with the first paragraph, the second paragraph does feel like a betrayal for the sake of progress.

Also consider that SC2 is a much more global game than BW was. The foreign community was barely acknowledged by Koreans, besides once a year, whereas now we're living/training together, we have Korean streamers on this site, etc. I think it'd be worse to artificially exclude them, when we've got an awesome thing going that simply wasn't possible in BW. I mean, part of GSL was that all you needed was a plane ticket to compete. This is not the same community situation that we saw in BW.
Hi all. Exciting news about TSL3. Can't wait. I see that there will be no live audience for the final. Why? Are there any particular logistics/sponsorship issues? I my mind that's (live venues) what helps promoting SC, would you agree?

The TSL originally excluded the Koreans because they had an already established gaming scene. We felt that adding another tournament on top of that would be silly, seeing as people already make a living out of it. In SC:BW you couldn't make a living out of it unless you risked everything and lived like shit in Korea - which many tried and failed to do. Further, there were no "massive" foreign tournaments whereas the Koreans had 6+ every year.
Fast forward to SC2 and things are drastically different. There are $10k+ tournaments all over the place and it is completely feasible for a player to make a living out of this game. In the last month we had DreamHack (15k first prize), Beeline Cup (10k first prize) and Gameque Mexico (10k first prize). There are a number of big tournaments coming up in January as well (such as PokerIdol - £5000 prize pool). It's true that the Koreans have the GSL, but other tournaments are insignificant compared to that. It's really GSL or nothing, and there can only be one GSL winner. If you're not top 8 GSL then you're making peanuts. You can argue that the Koreans have a better practice environment, but that's also no longer the case. There are already prohouses being formed in Europe (I know of at least one in Germany with cloud/nani) and that'll surely help things.
We feel that TSL should be striving to be the biggest tournament in the world, there's no point in selling ourselves short. To do that we need the best competition in the world. And while we can't realistically run TLOpens in Asia just yet, we will eventually. In the mean time, invites will make the TSL a truly international event.
Ultimately, I can't see any reasons in your post for why this move is a bad thing, other than this one line:
Wasn't the whole point of TSL to have a tournament for the players with less opportunity and support to play in major tournaments?
Yes. But now can you honestly say that this case in Starcraft 2?

Hey, why don't you guys make the qualifiers only "accept" the 4~6 best positions? Because some player may be out just because he coudn't play in one single tournament in the course of 2 months.
The map pool removed section made me go O_O. I can understand using a whole new set or maybe removing old maps (desert oasis/kulas) but the choices were kinda weird. There is new/old in play and new/old removed. What is the motive between keeping and removing a map out of curiosity?

I thought it was because of this at first but then there's lost temple's infamous cliff drops which is far worst(imo). Also Scrap station for zerg.

Scrap station isn't really zerg favored anymore....
But LT the drops can be bad at the cliffs yes but its not that bad especially compared to maps like Delta/Steppes.
Thanks for responding, I have more clarity now about the vision of TSL and its intentions to become an international tournament. I still can't say I'm happy about this change, though. I'm also curious as to what the stance of the general TL public would be if feedback were invited on the idea of whether to include koreans before the decision were made. I'm sure it would have been controversial.
I'm disappointed about the tournament, sure, but I think there's something larger for me lurking behind this -- maybe I'm just some nostalgic conservative at heart, but I really don't like the direction teamliquid is going with its intended vision of growth and expansion. I think I liked everthing here a little bit better when it felt like a smaller, tight-knit community of people who loved some obscure ten year old game. With the BW scene starting to feel pretty different to me now -- everyone talking about and playing SC2, considerable stream issues for brood war matches, players retiring, teams dissolving, the whole match fixing scandal, not to mention Blizzard vs. Kespa and all that related shit -- even subtle changes on TL (like the facebook/twitter/youtube buttons, TL getting a sponsor, a headquarters in New York) have been increasingly making me feel like both the game and community I love are gradually becoming something I will no longer enjoy. I love broodwar and I love TL and I'd hate to see it ruined by well-intentioned visions of growth and progress.
Honestly dude, what you're saying is just the tired "the small, independent thing I love is growing up / becoming popular / getting sponsors / getting money" argument. I've heard the same thing in the context of bands, TV shows, movies, you name it. Are the times a-changin'? You bet. Is it for the better? I think so. You may disagree, but for the scene as a whole the international unity and popularity that SC2 has been bringing is a net positive.
I'm happy to see these big decisions made for TSL3, and I certainly hope Team Liquid continues to be the face of the international gaming community. I think it's doing what it takes to make that happen.
What's the format of the tournament? Single elimination all the way? Group stages at the beginning? Double elimination?
Are you concerned with the brackets for the TL Opens filling up too fast? The Craft Cup, a $20 tournament, caps out at 1024 players. Why would a satellite to a $34000 tournament cap out at 512?
I would like to know, what would the times be for the US ones? I live in British Columbia, and I work from 10 to 6:30 PST, getting home at around 7 or so PST. Would I be able to compete or would I be outside the times? Post answer here or PM me, or both, doesn't matter, I will try and keep up with the thread.

Sounds like I would be. Kinda sucks that most tourneys are on Saturdays I'll never get to attend unless they're Sunday.
I must say I am really pumped for the TLS 3. The second one was epic and I expect the third to even surpass it :-D
What I am wondering though about the point system:
Being 16th twice is worth more than being fifth once? I understand the idea behind the system (reward players who play constantly well), but I wonder if e.g. placing fifth isn't actually worth more than scoring 16th twice.
there is no 1 by 1 ranking below 4th. 5th-8th are equal, just as 9th-16th are. 5th -8thjust means lost in 1/4-finals (round 6 in a 512 player bracket) and 9th-16th means lost in 1/8-finals (round 7 in a 512 player bracket). so all it actually means is that reaching the 6th round twice is worth more than reaching the 7th round once, which I think is fair, as it rewards consistency over having a lucky draw once
Koreans/Chinese were not allowed to participate in previous TSLs because of the skill of the former and the lag issues of the latter. BUT, SEn and F91 were allowed to play from outside of China. So, I am asking, why don't we allow Chinese and Koreans to play IF they can communicate with the admins and other players?
I'm just curious about this, but AFAIK (haven't kept up with the rules) a foreigner is automatically qualified in GSL Code A tournament if he wins a major foreign tournament. Do you know if the TSL3 qualify as a major foreign tournament to gomtv?
I guess this is more of a question to gomtv's side but if it does count, that just makes winning even better.

Ah, makes it a lot clearer, thanks for the explanation! :-)
Same questions over and over. Look the registration for each TL open opens a few days prior. There will be a timer/link at the top of the TeamLiquid.net website for the registration period.

We do not feel we can allow them into the EU NA qualifiers without huge logistical problems with smurfing and language barriers. We simply do not have the manpower to run such an event. Even accepting a select number would be a big risk, we have no clue how to evaluate whether they can communicate adequately and how many would actually sign up. If we do a Korean or Asian qualifier it will be in the future, not now.
As a European, I don't currently have a US account. Can I enter the US qualifiers using a friend's account (so long as I only enter each open once) or will I need my own?

If your friend doesn't play, it will be okay, judging by the rules

Will you have more reserved spots for pro/high lvl players? I bet this tournament will be full very fast now that there is so much money on the line.
I'm a tad confused. So if I'm currently living in Taiwan for school but I've been playing on NA server the entire time, am I still not allowed to sign up? I got no issues with lag.

You don't.
You sign up for the TL Opens (one was played this weekend) and depending on your placement in these tournaments you will get places in the TSL. So, YOU CAN'T SIGN UP FOR TSL ANYWHERE! I have seen so many people ask this now, please learn to read the OP.

The same as they have been for previous TLOpens
Can you please stop answering questions with this line "the same as they have been for previous TLOpens" because news flash: not everybody knows how things were done for previous TLOpens. I myself would like to know how to register for the north american qualifiers but the only answer I've found so far is to do it the same way it was done for the second TLOpen, which I have no clue how that was run.
Well, its a simple search away but since this thread is all about spoon feeding answers I'll give it to you straight.

Jesus Christ, I've been looking through every thread about the TSL3 multiple times to yet find out how to register for the qualifier tournament. Will the page for the NA tournament this Saturday be updated to allow for registration closer to the date? Honestly, having this information would be a great help, and I just can't see how anyone would find out how to register. You guys say everything about the qualifiers but not how to get in. If I can't find my way onto a registration page by Friday, much frustration will ensue

We announce registration 24-48 hours ahead of when it's open. Then there's a countdown. Then there's links everywhere with the registration address. It's impossible to miss. The registration period lasts usually a few days before the tournament, and check-in occurs 30 minutes before. This is what happened with the EU qualifier. Over 1000 players registered and 800 checked-in.
If you want to see previous tournaments you can click on "Tournaments" and then "TL Open" in the navigation bar, but obviously "Register" is greyed out because the tournament registration for the second qualifier is not open yet.
Since this seems to be confusing some people, I have updated the FAQ to include a section on how to register. But if you visit TeamLiquid between Wednesday and Saturday of the week before the Qualifiers, you should have absolutely no problem registering. Did you note what happened last week with the TSL3 Qualifier #1 on the EU Server? We did not get a single complaint or question about how to register out of thousands of players.
What is the rule regarding race picking/changing for the qualifiers. Do players need to play the same race only throughout single qualifier tournament or is race picking allowed.

There has been talk of "referee's" on the qualifier information page - I should be safe sending the replays (if I win of course) to Plexa, correct? If so (or not) who are the referees? Will I know that once I log in Saturday morning? Thanks.

Not to be Foxer specific, but how will lag be handled when it's Korea vs NA/EU? 1s of lag seems significant at the top level. Switch servers after each game (this is what they do in Quake and CS)?

I know you guys are going to cast all matches until the finals of replays, but how are you gonna do that with the GSL maps? The main tournment will be single elimination as far as I can tell and all games of(again the MAIN TOURNMENT)will be casted live and Vods will be released,TL will announce its stream when the time comes.

Actually, you couldn't, noone could (on the European server), I played on those maps with some friends, and no1 had the replays from those maps, but recently they got updated and got the "-Does not save replays" note removed + "-TSL Qualifier" added, and I tested it just now, they save replays now <3 So this got fixed (I bet GSL still uses the no-replays-save version, on a side note, for obvious reasons)

It'd be cool to have the first post updated to include some more details on the actual tournament :
- prize pool distribution - format of the matches (BO?, map picks, single elim, etc.) - how the players will me matched (random?) - dates of the casts
I know some of it was answered in a previous announcement and/or in this thread, but I think this information is hard to find atm while it should be readily accessible.
Will there be groups like in the GSL? I dont think this has been answered yet. I think a cool thing would be groups of 4 for round of 32 and round of 16.
Player A plays Player B in a bo3 C vs D in a bo3 Winners bo3 winner of this advances loser to final match Losers bo3 loser is eliminated winner goes onto final match Final match bo3 winner goes on loser out
Do this for the ro 32 and ro16 as mentioned above. Ro8 semis and third place match can be bo5 and the final can be bo7. The bo7 format i really enjoyed in the Nony Mondragon final last year.

Prize pool distribution as well as a few of these other items were released in the PokerStrategy.com TSL3 Announcement Thread. The format for the tournament is a 32-man single-elimination bracket (see Hot_Bid's post just a bit above yours). Number of games per round and map procedures will be announced closer to the start of the tournament. Dates of the casts are yet to be announced, but will be released soon.

There will be VODs uploaded to the youtube channel and I'm sure the channels it's streamed from. But my question is in the same vain:
Will there be VODs for download like the past TSLs? There's something great about being able to upload them to portables and watch them on a plane flight or in places you typically don't get service. Even to this day, I can't help but watch the series from TSL2 between Ret and Sen.
Where can I watch these games? I don't understand, like is there a site they will be posted to a la gomtv? None of the threads really specify where to watch the videos - has this even started yet? So the TL open is qualifiers for the TSL right?

There will be a live stream of all the matches (you can see when it starts at the top right of TL). If you want VODs, they will be uploaded to the teamliquid Youtube channel as soon as possible after the broadcasts.
I'm curious how TL is keeping the results hidden from viewers before the broadcast. Are you having the players use anonymous dummy accounts? If you can't answer this, I understand--just curiosity.
Is there a thread with the rules for the TSL3 somewhere? I am especially interested in if there are constrictions on race-picking for random players or not.
Will there be VODs for download like the past TSLs? There's something great about being able to upload them to portables and watch them on a plane flight or in places you typically don't get service.
I am also curious about this.
In addition, will the VODS online be spoiler proof (with blank ones at the end of the series). I noticed the TL Open qualifiers weren't and it made me a little sad.
So this is my first tsl and I've been so excited! unfortunately I had to work all day today and got home right as everything was ending for the day . I instantly went to the youtube channel, and I have been almost crazily been refreshing the page as I wait for the vods to be released. I don't mind waiting longer i'm just so excited! I am hoping they get posted sometime tonight so I can watch before going to bed, and so I can be all caught up to watch the games live tomorrow. I was just wondering if anybody could fill me in on whether I should wait up tonight for the vods to be posted, or if I should go to bed and plan on watching them all later during the week? (I would like to watch them in order)
I am planning to make a podcast to summarize the results and games of the TSL, kinda in the style of sportscenter or something. I plan on making this a weekly brodadcast, and also including some results from the other major foreigner tourneys (such as the NASL when it starts). Reason I bring this up is that I would like to use the TSL3 lead-in song used in the streams to break up the tournaments in the podcast. (ie, the song playing at the start of this video)+ Show Spoiler +
What is the source of this tune? Is it a custom mix, or used from some other source? If it is a custom mix, may I have permission to use this tune? The podcast would be distributed freely on youtube.

I can't say who exactly is the ref for each game when they take place, but I can tell you that Hot_Bid is the cast observer for every game that you see on stream.
I really didn't want to make a whole thread for this so I figured this would be the best place to ask.

They're shown in the last game of the last series for the day. So for example day 1, slayers_boxer vs nightend was the last series, so the last game of that has credits at end.
Sorry if this was clarified earlier but when are the matches played? I know they are casted from replays. So is the Ro16 already played? cause the interviews I read were after their matches before everyone knew the results. Just a little confused on the timeline here. Also if the tournament is going to be effected by the patch, or if it has already been played out
On SOTG yesterday by the way Tyler was talking i was getting the feeling the Ro16 games haven't been played yet? Sounded like he was still preparing for Thorzain.
Anyways, if they haven't played them yet, is the fact that patch 1.3 isn't even out on all the servers (i hear its not in Korea yet) going to affect the process in any way? Mind you, I don't even know if the patch is gonna be released soon or not though, so that question might be moot soon...
But if for some reason that takes time, and the koreans aren't playing koreans, they're playing with a patch they've basically never played with before (cuz if they aint on korean server they're on the NA one, right?).

I don't know if this has been explained yet but... what exactly is Artosis' role in all of this? Is it going to be a Day9 + Artosis final or something?
edit: I figured he was going to chime in every once in a while or something, but I haven't seen an appearance yet. (I missed days 3 & 4, so if he popped in already, ignore this post.)
I have a small request for the observer. I have seen before matches where both players resources and supply was displayed simultaneously in the top right corner of the screen. Unlike in the top left display where there are many displays, each having their own pros, the top right I think would be best always showing both players min/gas/supply counts instead of just the selected player's. I know some of the Ro32 matches were on the previous patch so this wasn't possible, but for the Ro16 onwards this would be a good improvement to already great observing. Thanks

I made the same comment in the feedback thread. This is the response:

I really like having both up at the same time. I didn't even know it was possible to only have one of the players showing.
Apparently it's something to do with the map triggers. Some maps show both, some don't.
I think it has to do with the fact that the patch 1.3 observer features only work with the official Blizzard maps. So I think the same features on a replay has issues with non-Blizzard maps.

As mentioned before in this topic, no they will not.
Some mod it might be nice to add that to the OP? I don't see it in the original FAQ, and this question has come up multiple times. If it's in the OP and they don't see it and then ask, then they can be penalized . I suppose it's sort of implicitly present in the sense that it's not mentioned that they'll be available, but people suck at reading the whole topic before responding.
Will all the subsequent rounds be every Saturday/Sunday, 2pm EST? Trying to set up a few live viewings in NJ area, if there's a full schedule we're going to try to make this a weekly thing.
(sorry if the answer to this question is posted in an obvious place, but I couldn't find it in the main stickied threads T_T;)
Hey, I would like to host a showing of the finals, "live", in a movie theatre. I have checked with the theatre itself, and it's available for "private renting", but I need an approximate date for the finals to get an estimated price. Can you guys share this info? (maybe private even)
What's the playlist of music being played on the TSL stream shortly before the games start? I think I can recognize some Starcraft music and maybe Total Annihilation.
Kennigit tweeted "Due to the stream delays today, TSL3 Ro8 will be free to watch next weekend..." Does this mean that normally the ro8 isn't free to watch? and it won't be free the week after?
On April 17 2011 04:30 coolpants wrote: How do you view chat on USTREAM?
There is no chat on USTREAM for the TeamLiquidTV accounts when TSL3 is running. It simply is not feasible with 30-50k viewers watching at the same time.

He was making a joke referring to the MLG situation a few weeks ago. All VODs for the entire TSL3 are 100% free, from the Ro32 to the Finals.
Like for the last two TSLs, is there going to be a stream URL posted?
This is my first day off the watch TSL3 live and I was wondering if I could watch it using VLC like the last two. Are you guys not releasing it this time or am I dumb and just missing it somewhere?
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone here know when the TSL switched over to Patch 1.3? Was it at the start of the Round of 16? Or was it halfway during the Round of 32? I have been unable to figure this out with searches and looking at VODs.
I ask as I am writing an article on tournament results for Patch 1.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In general TSL games are played some time in the course of the week preceding their cast. The patch went live between the first and second week of Ro32, so unless it is otherwise noted in the VODs the games on Mar. 26 and 27 and every week since then have been on 1.3.

(Probably answered before, but it's a long thread)
Winners interviews for Ro16 were out on either the Monday or Tuesday following the previous weekend's matches. Should probably expect a similar release schedule for future matches.
