The iCCup ranking system is obviously flawed in an open ladder if you're trying to get a 100% representation of skill. The system gives out more points for winning than losing for heavens sakes!! Except at the top ranks, that is. The TSL staff, of course, knew this beforehand because they are a group of very bright individuals. Personally, I think it all adds to the fun and gives people with extreme dedication a chance at a huge tournament that they otherwise would have no chance in competing in. Nice try Kwark, I'm sorry you didn't make it! The same goes to other less players who put in a huge amount of time and effort trying to qualify legitimately.

I do however feel that some sort conflict was unavoidable in this system. Be it people giving away wins, people playing weaker players, players dodging certain players or just people accusing each other of it. There is always going to conflict when you use a system where you can pick you opponent. I know there is no such thing as a perfect system but it looks to me like all these problems occured because of the system rather than the players. Running several qualifiers at different dates with groupstages so that players can adjust to a qualifier that fits them maybe? For example, the players could be allowed to participate in all of the events, it would be harder to qualify in the beginning and then it would become easier along the way as stronger players qualified. If you only can play the first qualifier, you atleast had a fair shot. Lets say there's four qualifiers with all of them differing in date and time. Ofcourse, there is a limit to how far you can go to meet peoples whine... Im also aware that this would require a lot of work to actually set up but considering the work the TL staff has to put into going through IP adresses in the current system Im not sure its that much faster. Just my 5 cents.. I may regret everything I said in 10 mins but thats what came to mind right now.. ![]()

This is not very precise tbh I do at least not recon any specific system. I think a discussion about other TSL formats is a good idea, BUT i do also want to say that there will never be a format that is loved by everyone! The latter can never be as users already disagree about who is supposed to be selected by the qualifiers. I am not talking about specific players but things like pure skill vs determination etc. Thus there will always be people who dislike the result and players who fell ill treated by the rules. THIS CAN NEVER BE ACCEPTED TO REASON RULE BREAKING! Make your own tournament if you think you know rules for a better tournament, but dont spoil others by DISRESPECTING their rules. @robinsa: i d love to have a better system like you seem to do. so dont be pissed with this post. maybe ideas for a new TSL should go to another thread, bcs to me it all seems like excusing the unexcuseable in this thread.

I stated that I dont approve of what they did the first thing I did in the other post. I does however not change the fact that I think the qualifying system is at fault for some of the previous bashing in this thread where people blame eachother of avoiding etc.. and Im talking about the bashing directed against people who havnt been hung out as cheaters now. This system was built for conflict, and we got it. Im sure the TL staff did everything they thought were necassary to prevent this and I couldnt have said this either unless I knew the result. Lets just learn from it rather than start to bash eachother into the next topic.

PS -- Threads like this gave birth to a random auto match making system, aka War 3's ladder. While not perfect either it definitely was a step in the right direction. Even WC3s ladder gets people trying to abuse it with free-wins during the end of season "pro-ladder" stages, right?

btw. As I wrote in the other thread - what about marwin's last games!? They look pretty questionable. How he can find another Ukrainian @ 5:30 am local time and play 3 games which are enough to claim the needed spot @ the ladder ;o !? tsl-marw match list It just looks too suspicious to me :S
