I'm just a bit sad, I think that comment I made in passing some days ago in that blog avex made really triggered baskerville, I hope he finds the mental peace he needs by taking a break of TL and "vidjagaems" for a while

9/11 was a good event.
Hitler had a good influence in the way the world works today.

I don't really think that he was banned for trying to discuss a controversial topic, I think it can be essentially understood as "by request". I would of course be happy to hear arguments against Jewish people competing in e-sports, however, as much as I am an outspoken antisionist, I would be pretty surprised if he had any convincing arguments.
Interestingly, I had recently a debate with a friend who postulated that if it weren't for Hitler, we would now be speaking Russian. Not that we weren't practically occupied for 22 years anyway, but there was apparently a Soviet invasion into Europe already in planning when the Nazis rose and that could have been much worse than the post-was situation. Remember that Hitler went down only when he had to fight both Allies and Soviets at once, Soviets would have had themselves on their side ... well obviously ... making them a really tough enemy. So actually the world today could have been worse off without Hitler (and even the casualities could have been similar or larger, Stalin knew how to exterminate people en masse as well).

And then they would have tried to use Yuri and his legion of mindcontrolling minions, who would've gone rogue and try to conquer the world all by themselves.
The world would also have gotten Tesla coils and weaponized giant squids. Totally worth it, imho.

And if all that failed and they still couldn't conquer the lands taken from them by corrupt czarist diplomats and criminal military officers, they would go back in time, kill Einstein, and use armored bears instead.

One thing I never understood is why Einstein is the guy to be mentioned with the Bomb. Surely, it releases energy because E=mc^2, but then everything else does. The guy to kill is probably Enrico Fermi.

It's about the Chronosphere, not the bomb. Also, Einstein played an important role politically in the A-bomb project, if not in the science of it.
And only the first one was meant to be taken seriously, and the third one went full-on ham. So logic need not be considered.

I was taught that it was the opposite - his role politically was pretty much neglected (he didn't think it was moral to use for warfare) whereas his scientific contributions were the cornerstone of the whole Manhattan Project... This is all off of 10 years ago high school APUSH project so I may be mistaken, would be interesting to see some sources on where I am mistaken.

Well Einstein first actually was involved with pitching the nuclear weapons to Roosevelt (out of fear that Germany gets them first) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einstein–Szilárd_letter, but was known for his stance against actually using the weapon against people and later has shown regret over that letter.
However I can't really find out evidence of any research of his being crucial to the actual technology. He contributed to the foundations quantum mechanics, but similarly to STR, QM was an inevitable development at that time and didn't hinge on Einstein's contribution (in contrast to GTR, which could have been delayed for decades without Einstein). The real progress was the experimental development in working with radioisotopes, culminating with Fermi's first "reactor" in the basement of some stadium in Chicago.

Well history is history, trying to determine if it'd be better or worse if an event did or didn't happen is always a minefield. Like, you could also argue that without Hitler we'd have a much stronger rampant antisemitism in all Western countries, or that without Hitler the world would have transitionned peacefully into the Cold War instead of having a big massacre to trigger it. etc etc, it's endless

Honestly, If someone made a sophisticated set of speculations about all of that, I would read the shit out of it. Doesn't anything like that exist? Because the Jew angle made me thinking, what would happen without Holocaust - would there be Israel? How would the Middle East even look like? So many possibilities!
But the most important question has been revealed by KBB: would the German mods on TL find another way to be as Nazi they are, if there hadn't the real-world example of actual Nazis at hand?

Red Alert 2 was the game that got me into RTS and this discussion made me laugh quite a bit. Great stuff.
