I spent the first half of this thread with fact-based arguments and listed concerns about the whole system.
And then the last few pages have been a circle jerk of a few posters making this about supposedly entitled babies.
One man's circle jerk is a man's comedy. The outrage about this was at comical levels.
It's been rather sad how you had been insulting and entirely flamebaiting the few last pages, calling cry babies and laughing at silly childish jokes at the same time.
This is a rather simple subject, and i completely disagree with mods should be free per se, but certainly being free has been a better model than what's is being offered right now from steam:
- The mod developer should get a fair cut. And a 25% is not fair, is plain retarded for the copious amount of mods that actually fix game developers screw ups or short comings. - The mod's information about its content should be transparent to possible buyers. - Quality control.
From what i read, neither is guaranteed.
I think it's fair and not plain retarded. cool
quality control is done by the community reviewing and buying the good mods from respected and consistent modders and returning and giving negative feedback to the bad ones.
