Very true. Doesn't matter whether it's CNN comments, or Breitbart, it's all terrible. Really easy to get depressed by how insular people can become when talking politics. I'd like to think CBC comments section is better, but probably it isn't by much. Is that publicly owned? I mean NPR (National Public Radio) tends to be a bit more tame, but that is mainly because it is generally viewed as having a liberal bias and Alex Jones types don't tend to come out of the woodwork for fear of being vaccinated because the domain is owned by the government. All in all tends to be a bit more organically (both in terms of produce and content) circle jerky in the comment section and content.

Yeah, when it comes to politics, everyone has their own opinion. Everyone feels that their opinion is the only ethical position to have and that anyone who disagrees with their opinion is an evil vile scumbag, and everyone feels that they are capable of looking at an issue subjectively while nobody else is capable of being subjective.

Yeah, CBC is a crown corporation. You do get the Libs vs Cons debates in the comments, but the tone feels more subdued (at least to me.)

I need to move to Canada, I would be content to have a slightly less prominent political focus on the houses of government.

I really just look for hyperbole these days for pure entertainment. Seriously, look up Alex Jones but don't do anything to support him, I think he got himself banned from the UK. But you'll have fun in the mean time.

Everyone thinks everyone is capable of being subjective.

You ever been to Huffington Post or Townhall.com? They outrank YouTube for awfulness, lol.
TL's thankfully fairly calm in comparison. People tend to back up what they're saying and debate legitimate points rather than rely on sound bytes and popular jeers and demeaning slogans. Probably has to do with the lack of a rating system, now that I think about it.

Well, and hopefully reasonable moderation, despite our supposed reliance on fascism. I was outright mocked by Breitbart moderators, while I was still trying to establish the groundwork for a point. I hadn't even gotten to my point yet, but I supposedly a liberal, trolling their website. (Nevermind that I vote Conservative.) I finally just peaced, and have been at peace ever since.

Every post on there is vetted now, you have to keep in mind. It used to be a free for all, and it was pretty terrible.

Derp on me. Though that was a little assumed. X-D Keeping repeat offenders off helps plenty.

LMWTL was just banned by Plexa.
That account was created on 2014-07-09 18:03:07 and had 6 posts.
Reason: Too soon. PBU I guess? None of his posts have the ban text

How come this temp didn't show up in the ABL? Is it because they were posing from the hearthstone site? If so, that's no fun. I want to see all the bans!

Every post on there is vetted now, you have to keep in mind. It used to be a free for all, and it was pretty terrible. vetted? you mean moderated? Same thing. They call it "pre-moderation", but they since they are appraising/checking posts before they are posted, vetting is also a suitable term to use to describe it. Supposedly, nearly every post is screened before it is added to the comment section. They started doing this when their comment system changed over. I imagine it is mostly to stop spam, prejudiced (racist, homophobic, sexist, etc) posts, and the like. Basically, see if it follows this set of rules.
From their FAQ:
Most audience contributions on CBC.ca and Radio-Canada.ca are pre-moderated, meaning moderators review submissions, in advance of posting. This moderation process creates a lag between the time the comment is submitted, and the time it is published on the site. We work to ensure that all content is published within 30 minutes of the time that we receive it. There may be times when the delay is longer, due to the volume of comments we receive, which on many days on CBC.ca, is more than 20,000 submissions.
