If you want to advertise your stream on TL please don't stream copyrighted content and take the effort to get your stream listed on the site rather than keep linking to your livestream.
I understand that this individual was banned for streaming GSL and posting about it multiple times, but would the situation be the same if he was streaming the LQ GSL version? (are there different copyright issues for that, or just the same policy?)
It still infringes copyright issues. Re-streaming the LQ version isn't much better than re-streaming the HQ version.
While it infringes on law, it doesn't necessarily infringe on GSL's economic interests. Since they are not charging for the LQ stream, and since the ads they are distributing will reach just as many people, neither the GSL nor their sponsors should rationally care if somebody is drastically reducing their server load by restreaming.
Well, GOM does care, and rightfully so. They don't know how many people are watching the restream (thus watching the ads), so they can't report their numbers to the sponsors.
They only get paid for the reported number of (ad-)viewers, but not for the amount of people who actually saw the ads.
If a restream would actually take away viewers from the official stream, GOM gets less ad revenue.

Not really. There are quite a few posts in there that aren't bans. Some bans are just extended or shortened durations, too. We're not as close as you might think.

Nah that TLSUCKSDICK guy didn't show up on the automated banlist either so they can definitely do secret bans for whatever reason. I think they reserve it for when they ban someone in real-life if you know what I mean.
