I'll echo the feelings that said he was a smart but abrasive poster, and I'll add that we were rather close ideologically. Don't do anything stupid Farva ! | ||

 I kind of saw this coming and he even mentioned that his TL career was coming to an end. When presented with pseudo-philosophy on a daily basis on this site, I can see how he would crack. | ||

boom, samzdat is banned?!! why? I dont really know him or know of his posting attitude or style or history, but I see him frequently and thought he might be a veteran enough to know how to avoid being banned. what got him banned? | ||

sam!zdat was just banned by Plexa. That account was created on 2010-10-14 03:45:55 and had 4170 posts. Reason: By request. Good luck at Riverside. He clearly wasn't "veteran" enough to avoid getting banned shortly after he was warned for the exact same issue. And I would guess he wasn't new to warnings/bans for that kind of thing as well. It's not uncommon for people to request perms after long bans, or even create smurfs for basically the same purpose. Saying it was just a request feels like it was his own conscious decision from the start. | ||

One of the reasons I admire Sam deals in precisely the thing that got him banned; his principles are unwavering, and it is this inflexibility that at times could prompt a bit of spite on his part when he argued against someone that was clearly not going to "get it". To those who wonder, he very much believed what he wrote, and, having met him in person, he definitely has a library full of well-thumbed books to back it all up. I'll probably be hitting up downtown Seattle with him tomorrow, so if he hasn't read the ABL already, I'll pass along all the well-wishes.
