You could potentially get leased an IP from your ISP that a site has IP banned, which is why it's only in specific circumstances that a ban is an IP ban. Yeah, that would incur additional cost most retail customers wouldn't bother with. Businesses and the like would. I work in online fraud prevention and we keep track of them, but they are not entirely damning in their own right.

What was that thread where everyone got warned/banned for posting in a garbage thread like this? I'm always reminded of that when I see these and stay away lol.

drowisimba was just temp banned for 2 days by KadaverBB. That account was created on 2012-12-24 00:53:11 and had 52 posts. Reason: I warned you for arguing about moderation outside of the Website Feedback forum. This post: All these posts are banworthy for trolling, but of course the moderators will look the other way as usual. After that I get a semi-angry PM from you. While I try to politely answer you, you post this gem: I gave my advice and you started trolling me. Who's the prick? edit: But you have the moderators on your side even though you're the ones trolling, so I should probably leave. I got a warning and a message from a moderator who even trolled me in PM, telling me to post my complaints in a thread that doesn't exist, and to report your posts using a function that doesn't exist. Cool job as usual, TL mods. I actually let that post go, because I had hope for you. I thought you might understand what you did wrong. Instead I get another PM from you calling me awful and whatnot. I really tried my best with you. Maybe after a week you will think a litle more clearly ![]() I don't think KadaverBB's strongest area is math.

Oh and I think a week is a bit lenient. Cannot fucking stand these pathetic human beings who always twist and change and take back what they said and refuse to budge an inch on their position in an argument without actually providing any substantial evidence to support their claims. DURR YOU'RE FUCKING STUPID AND I'M SMART AND WHAT I SAY IS TRUE BY DEFAULT BECAUSE YOU'RE FUCKING STUPID LOL. Just.... sigh -_-

This post: On December 25 2012 22:58 Figgy wrote: Funny how China which has a significantly larger population has 20x less gun related homicides. Literally. Guess we can just blame population huh? User was temp banned for this post. Got a temp ban because: Figgy was just temp banned for 1 week by micronesia. That account was created on 2011-02-08 22:43:05 and had 1099 posts. Reason: You of a history of getting warned/banned for not following the rules. Now, when asked to bring the discussion about guns/gun control to the appropriate thread, you start comparing US gun laws/culture to China, and quoting homicide statistics. However, the warning only says "Do not discuss gun control, or the right to own/use guns in this thread. " He didn't talk about the right to own guns, nor did he talk about gun control. He's criticizing the other's argument of "there's so many people in the USA, there's bound to be accidents" by providing a counter example showing that the number of "accidents" isn't proportional in China. Gun control and the right to own guns aren't the only possible factors for China having a significantly lower number of accidents. There's other stuff such as culture, philosophy, education, etc. etc., which may or may not influence whether a gun incident happens, but that isn't a direct comment to gun control nor the right to own guns. Perhaps there is only one reason why China has had many less incidents, and it could be something as simple as (and this is purely an example) all the gun incidents in the USA being coordinated by a mastermind, which would be not be effected by whether guns are legal or not. If Figgy crossed the rule "Do not discuss gun control, or the right to own/use guns in this thread." by saying that there must be reasons why China has many less gun incidents than the USA, which the banner seemed to have interpreted as a post that implies the reasons are at least partially because of gun control differences and/or the right to own guns (in this case being China's lack of right to own guns), then jdseemoreglass's post should similarly be interpreted as supporting the right to own guns and thus, a punishment should be necessary. However, as he did not mention gun control or the right to own guns, jdseemoreglass didn't cross the rule. Before I close, my interpretation of the phrase "gun control" may be different, as when it is used in context with the phrase "the right to own guns", I think of the specific laws and gun rights, not all other aspects that may or may not indirectly influence whether a gun incident occurs (and any mentioning of specific such potential aspects and influences are absent). I'm bringing this up because of a combination of me believing the warning may have been slightly unclear and me believing there has been an instance of inconsistent modding within the thread here http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=390054¤tpage=8#143 and to help make sure TL is the best place ever ^^;

Jd's wasn't commenting on gun control in america mostly saying that its only natural in such a large population bad things are going to happen more then smaller nations which is just talking about statistics. Then his second half of his post is about how there wasn't any actual information at the time that he had an assault weapon and he wanted the op to source that comment if he was going to post it. In this case one was making a snarky comment about america and the different gun politices and thus by association gun control. literally. the other was making a comment about statistics and then trying to keep the op honest about its claims without any direct commentary on the claims being made only the accuracy of them. but yeah take it to website feedback thats where it belongs.

Then what about the post Figgy was responding to? is that then, not similarly implying that the gun control/laws in USA are fine, by justifying the incidents by arguing that accidents must happen time to time in a large sample [ of people ] ?
