I like it the concept of TL+, but it's honestly a bit too expensive for what it offers.
Large community sites often don't charge more than $3-5 a month, and $15 for lifetime memberships with private forums and etc.

But I don't like the distinction made in posts for TL+ users. A nice shiny icon on the profile page would be .. better . in my humble opinion. The lone plus in the corner seems okay, but the yellow header in the post like HTBclassy made on the first page? yuk..
oh yeah, Paypal is an evil company and a big threshold for me (I see that I could pay with creditcard directly..).

The yellow bar is only for posts that got gifted TL+ so it is not for premium users in general, but specifically for a post people considered good enough to gift. In a way it is similar to the blue bars for high level strategy posts with the majority of the posts that get the yellow bar (gifted TL+ specifically for this post) will be worth reading. It will be much, much rarer than the icons bottom right.

No you don't pay to post, you pay to get additional features that slightly enhance your user experience.
There's a forum for TL+ which like any other of the 100+ sub communities on TL probably lead to people getting to know the other people in that sub community.
There's no slippery slope here. There's no decline here.
And the more money TL makes the better TL can become since it can invest in people and technology to enhance the forum and the content.
