We made some changes to TL. Here is a list of the changes we made.
Filters We decided to make it easier to filter games. Now you can click one button to remove or add SC2, BW, Dota 2 and other games. Clicking it will enable/disable news, forums, events, and streams. Alongside the game filters is the "Filters" button. Clicking on that brings up more advanced options for further customization.
Login and Personal Profile The login bar on the top left will drop down (click the arrow). There's an icon for PMs, an icon for subscribed threads (mostly equivalent to the old "My Posts"), and an icon for streaming. Once you've logged in, clicking the arrow will drop down links to your blog, profile, Liquibet, fantasy, and "my tournaments." If you have an open Liquibet it will show a visual indicator on the arrow. Having your stream on will make your stream icon blink green.
Menu bar We re-positioned and removed and a lot of buttons in the menu bar. It's cleaner and more useful now. We removed some rarely clicked VOD links and moved events and barcrafts under "Features." Streams now has its own button.
Frontpage Our middle section below the four news boxes will no longer be a list of all TL articles. It will now display four additional boxes of content. In general the top four news boxes will have more time sensitive articles while the middle section boxes will have more editorial and longer, TLFE-like content. We have also rearranged some of the boxes, moving spotlight up and putting featured video on the left.
Calendar To save vertical space, calendar only shows the seven days. Events generally aren't added weeks in advance and very few users used our calendar to look ahead more than a week.
Streams Our streams list is now sorted by game type and then viewers. Race icons are now always on for SC2.
Menu Bar - Menu bar art re-skinned. - "Filter" button replaces "Home" button. Home button moved to center bar area. - Filter buttons added for SC2, BW, and Dota 2. Clicking toggles news, forum, events, streams, TLPD, and Liquipedia. - Clicking "Filter" button itself will pop up advanced sidebar options. - "Forum" button is no longer a drop down. - "Video" button dropdown changed to "Streams" button. - "Features" button is now clickable and takes you to a page that explains all TL features. - "Events" moved to "Features" dropdown. - "My Tournaments" moved to top left login bar dropdown." - "BarCrafts" button moved to "Features" dropdown. - "Store" button re-positioned.
Login bar - Login bar is now drop down menu (clickable arrow) - Once logged in, new bar displays useful icons. - Envelope icon is for PMs and will light up when a new PM is received - Folder icon is for subscribed threads, replaces the old "Posts" link. - Tower icon is for streaming and will blink green when your stream is online. - Once logged in, clicking the arrow will show additional links: FPL / FGSTL, Liquibet, Profile, and My Tournaments. - The arrow icon will also light up for open Liquibets.
Frontpage - Removed game filter under frontpage news boxes (use the menu filter buttons). - Added four center content boxes to focus on editorial and TLFE-style content articles. - Moved News Archive box from center to left. - Moved Store and Featured Video boxes to the left. - Moved Spotlight box to the right. - Moved Sponsored Threads box from center to the left. - Added banner advertisement under middle articles section.
Calendar - Updated "Calendar" sidebar art to "Events". - Calendar now shows only the next seven days.
Streams - Updated sidebar art. - Streams now always sort by game type. - Race icons are now always on for SC2. - Total stream viewers removed.
Miscellaneous - Liquipedia sidebar moved above TLPD due to higher usage. - Time (EST CEST KST) display adjusted. - Active users moved from top right to center bottom.
What does the future hold??
Soon, we will be visually updating the calendar and stream sections more too, as well as offering a premium no-ads feature. Hopefully these changes make your TL browsing experience more convenient and enjoyable.
My filters were set to all but Other, so I clicked Other and the rest turned off, and I had to turn them all on again. Everything seems to work fine after that though.
On May 25 2013 05:57 Hot_Bid wrote: Soon, we will be visually updating the calendar and stream sections more too, as well as offering a premium no-ads feature.
Looks nice, I like it. Although right now my left side bar is bugged and I can only see the news section. The streams aren't sorted by viewers for me either. But I am sure R1CH is working hard .
While overall I appreciate the change, I think placing the news archive so far on the bottom left is questionable. I get that store needs to be in your face because that what generates money, but still. Only 5 news items are in the highlight box. Sometimes TL produced that many news in a day. Now for users who don't regularly visit TL it might be easy to overlook older news.
I like the changes, except I prefer the top-left user panel the way it was. Now it's just extra clicks every time I want to go to Liquibet or whatever, and the empty space isn't being used by anything so it seems pretty inefficient.

Yeah I agree, or at least have a way to lock the panel open so that you can see when Liquibets update etc.
I miss a bit the right sidebar customization and 1 week in calendar seems strange. I guess it´s most getting used to it ^^ Other than that I really like it. Nice you stayed with the clean, simple layout I always loved TL for.
So why are they to the left at the mot convient space rather than in the middle and have the most clicked things to the left that is currently in the middle.

Yeah I think the default should be that it shows everything with the toggle option being "hide" instead of hiding everything with the toggle option being "more".
I think the 'news archive' is too small and too far down, and unless you are going to change the use of 'featured articles' or have way more, having articles there that are almost a year old (like 'Apples and Oranges') seems like a waste of space to me. (Seeing those articles there again now is fine, but if I have to see it be there every day of the year I'm still not going to read it again.)
From a graphical standpoint maybe yes, cause it's looks a little newer with the shadow effect on the filters etc., but from an ergonomical standpoint it's worse, since ppl are familiar to click the home button, which moved and you won't see the open bets without clicking the arrow now. Checking the change to the menu bar by "graphical priorities" the filter section now is one level above the main navigation, which doesn't make that much sense, since you normally don't "filter around" all the time. But I get the point, that it's not that easy to Change stuff on a page like tl and to make it right for everyone.

Liquibet doesn't require another click to see, as the OP says, the arrow lights up yellow when you have an open Liquibet.
Geographically a home button moving is an issue and we hope people can get used to the new location. As you said it is not easy to change things and make it design-wise good for everyone.
Is it possible to make it so all the buttons for fpl/fstl and such aren't re-hidden every time I navigate to a new page? I'd rather keep them showing all the time.
Hmm. I turned off all SC2 content but on the right side I see SC2 and BW streams. Any way to turn that off again? It was removed until this site change and I honestly don't want to see it.
EDIT: Same with news. I only want Dota2, just like before. T_T
EDIT2: Okay, so I have to click the buttons up there as well. Hope it remembers that. Thanks!

Yes we can add an option for that, it's on R1CH's list.
"Streams Our streams list is now sorted by game type and then viewers. Race icons are now always on for SC2." this is not working for me. No race Icons at all.
edit: right after I posted this the Icons appeared. TL trolling me :D
edit 2: wtf. now the Icons are gone again. I will check later again.
I like the changes but the calendar change irks me. Could you maybe restore the callendar to full month, rather than the days left in a month, and maybe make the past day just really faded?

Overread that sorry. Hopefully you guys can use the gotten space on the top left for some sponsor etc. stuff in the future
i cant see any BW streams anymore on the right site. i only see sc2 streams and dota streams online. No snipelaot and andrey that i saw before. Im using current Opera version. Will this be fixed?

The filters work for me, will have R1CH test it in Opera.
The only thing I can complain about is the fact that the little arrow is yellow when there are open liquibets from Brood war or SC2. As I only play SC2 liquibets, I think I will often check even when there is no SC2 open liquibet because of that...

now i mistook how the filters work. My fault.
But is it possible to add Race icons to BW streams too?
Is there supposed to be this 1px white line below the buttons. It looks really awkward, I know what you're trying to do with it but it's far too white that it blends into the background and looks like gaps in the menu. I'm not sure why the filters are given such prominence when they're not even important for every page and not something that would see regular use from a large portion of the user base. They might change it once, but after that, does it really need to be in prime-time menu slots? Not having "home" all the way to the left is a bit frustrating as well.
Thanks, I am very happy to filter out all the non sc2 news and streams. There was no really easy way to do it before, to get everything. Now it takes one click and it's pure.
The only button that I really used at the top was my posts, and that now seems to be gone. I also don't really understand the need for the drop down arrow. What was wrong with having that stuff available all the time? The filters will definitely be more useful for some people though; it was kind of hard to find that stuff before.
I really like the new buttons that allow you to enable / disable some games but could you make it so people that disable either BW or Sc2 don't have the arrow in yellow for new liquibets for the game that is disabled ? (If BW is disabled the arrow is yellow only for Sc2 liquibets / if Sc2 is disabled, yellow for BW only... you get the idea).
Top looks nice. However, the filters don't seem to be properly working for me. I set Dota2 to hidden. The threads on the left disappeared, but the streams on the right are still there. Also, having the Blog/Profile/liquibet/etc. field permanently toggable would be great. I don't feel like clicking the little arrow everytime there is a new liquibet and it seems like I'm not alone.
edit: For some reasons, the filter options do work for me now.

like, i don't know if are you aware about the stream sorting or not
I can't really say I like it visually, but the functionality is poignant. Race icons always on for SC2 is a welcome change. I was going to say you should have Salon Alpin redesign the entire site, but it doesn't look like they do web design
Btw, the navbar is a bit fudged for me in Chrome on OS X, Version 27.0.1453.93
I'm really on the fence. Even though I love the site it has always looked like the design is lagging behind and mediocre at best in terms of looks but I think the usability and the presentation of the content has always been excellent. Now it looks a bit worse, the header reminds me of some over a decade old IPB skins, but then again it's even more accessible.
Oh wow I just now realized how I was so used to the placement of that home button, I'm probably going to automatically press the filter button for a while now.
I used to use the filters to hide forums I didn't want on the left side. Then I went in through the forum link at the top when I wanted to check a tournament thread or similar. Now they aren't there at all. Changing filter to see them seems a bit more cumbersome.
Hm, I like that I can completely remove Dota2 from the site now, but is there a way to set the dropdown menu with liquibets and such to default to open instead of having to click it every time I want to see it?

looks nicer, but I dislike the "filters" function completely replacing the SC2/BW/DOTA2 buttons previous functions. The homepage really looks a lot nicer though. Maybe it's a question of getting used to the new layout... although the filters don't seem to work properly for me atm,

Click the Filter button, you can still hide or re-arrange sidebar forums without completely disabling the content.

Click it will turn it off, so that's probably why. Default is everything on except Other.
The one thing i don't like about it is how i can no longer go just to the sc2 forums off of it. I'm forced to go to the everything forums and then search through for the sc2 forums lol (i know there are not a lot of different areas. but i really loved this function). I've tried using the filters to fix that in hopes but that didn't do anything.
Just a please and thank you :D
EDIT:: Like the Forum button had a drop down and you could go to each individual game's forums
Looking pretty slick. Only thing I miss is the full month calendar (do I really need to open and scroll through the whole month if I only want to watch yesterday?) and right sidebar customization back.
Folder icon replaced the 'post' link, is there a practical purpose? Also, it leads to me a random post when I click the given number, so I don't know how to find my own posts. Am I overlooking something?

I don't want SC2 or BW news.
I want the BW forums on the left side and the SC2 forums through the full forum listing.
I don't see a way to make it work this way currently?
Love the filter, it's been something I was hoping for
Maybe you could slightly change the graphics to make it more clear what is on and what is off. I had them swapped initially, though in retrospect it does seem pretty obvious :<

no, it is not better in every way. the "subscribed threads" list sorts the threads in which i have participated in the order in which the most recent post was made by anybody, while the "my posts" list ordered them by the chronology of my own posts in these threads. i strongly prefer the latter and therefore am missing the my posts button, like several others. it would be really cool if you could bring back the my posts button.
other than that, i really like and appreciate the changes, looks neat! one more thing that i think is not ideal: why is LoL included in the "other games" filter? i think LoL is big enough to warrant its own filter, just like dota2.

Would it be impossible for this: http://www.teamliquid.net/mytlnet/myposts.php page to be added under the little arrow next to Profile? So that it would look like: My Blog | Profile | Posts
Honestly, having to go in to the profile to view your recent posts is just annoying.

Why make it more of a hassle to find? Probably one of the most used buttons if I had to guess.

It seems to be coming up a lot and I'm also of the same opinion that having one at the top left would be appreciated. Subscribed threads is not the same thing at all (I can understand that some will be arguing it's better but I personally don't find this to be true) and having to make the extra click to find 'My Posts' is in fact pretty annoying.
It looks cleaner, but is there any way to filter the streams only? I don't watch BW streams, but I'd like to have BW forums visable on the left sidebar. The filter button removes them both. Also not a huge fan of moving the Home-button and the fact that the filter-buttons need to take so much space up there. I sort those once and then leave them alone, but now they take up about 1/3 of the bar. The Liquibet change might take some getting used to, but I guess it works (even if I preferred having them visible without the extra click.) As I said it does overall look more clean, so good work on that.
[Edit] I keep clicking the filter button instead of the home button, an annoyance for sure.

Im not disagreeing with you, but I am trying to point out to people saying "goodbye my posts" that it is still there.
i do not like that there is no drop down menu on the forum menu that i can click and select only the starcraft 2 subforum, this way i have to do a lot of scrolling after i hit forum button, i am looking to the premium no adds feature tho !
First, the News Archive and Sponsored Threads boxes need to have each topic separated somehow, whether that be through bullet points or lines. As they are right now they kinda run into each other and I don't really know what I'm looking at.
Next, I would swap the places of the Spotlight box with that of Store and Featured Video. I think that that way is better since as your eyes scan from left to right you see constant reading material (forums to Spotlighted to Featured) instead of the sudden break with the Store and Video boxes as it is now.
Also, please restore the posts button, that's how I primarily navigate the forums, having to click on the dropdown menu, then profile, then public profile, then posts, is really cumbersome.
I also have to echo the sentiment that the filter buttons are too big and too inconveniently placed. Ideally i think they would be placed somewhere near the search bar, with the old navigation buttons back in their old spots. Also even though the calendar wasn't used all that much, having a full month is better than just a week. Even if its simply for date tracking than anything else.
On a similar note, since TL uses KR time, I usually used the time at the top right to gauge how long ago the post I was reading was posted. Although I like the addition of the two new time zones, I'd like to see Korean time at the top! The way it is now forces me to think about what time I'm seeing since it isn't immediately obvious anymore, although I guess it might simply be a matter of getting used to the new placement of the time.
Other than that, I think the changes look really nice and I commend you guys for the effort!
However when I scroll over the forums button, it no longer brings up a drop down menu where I can immediately go to the SC2 forums. That is annoying. I have to click, then click on the SC2 forums. Be nice if you could set the forums you wanted to default to via a filter, or bring back the drop down menu.

Filters are set ONCE and never touched again. So why are they given so much emphasis and real estate? When a user hits your homepage, you have to ask:
What are the most important things for them to see? What are they trying to find? What do you want to promote as a company? How can you minimize the number of clicks to get somewhere?
From a design/usability standpoint, some of the changes do not make sense.
- By convention, Home should always be the left most item in the main navigation. - By convention, your login name / user profile should be in the top right corner - I used to be able to get to Starcraft 2 forums straight from Homepage. Now I have to click Forum and then click Starcraft 2 Forums and that link is super small. If I stay on main forum page, I have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see Starcraft 2 forums. I have to pass through a bunch of unrelated forums and forums already on the sidebar. Why do people visit TeamLiquid.net? Is it to browse your Tech Support forum? or your TL Community forum? Probably not. So why are those placed higher than your main gaming forums??
IMO, main activities for users are to browse the forums related to their games (SC2, DOTA2, etc), check out who's streaming, check out if any major tournament is streaming, and read up on news related to their games. Those are the things you should emphasis on your homepage. Right now, there is way too much content clustered in random place. Help your users focus. Hire a graphics designer. Hire a website designer. Hire a usability expert.
^ Its actually a good point, filters shouldn't be priority, in terms of space, who is constantly modifying and changing their filters? ninjamysts whole posts seems to be kinda on point, there are some weird decisions made about the overall layout of TL.
On May 25 2013 07:44 azizex666 wrote: how do I hide all the dota 2 news from the "Community News" on front page? since I do not watch dota 2 or read any of news related to it.
1. You should. 2. Click the dota 2 button on the top menu bar next to where it says "Filter:" If it is sunken in then you don't see news of that type.
On May 25 2013 06:47 Hot_Bid wrote:Liquibet doesn't require another click to see, as the OP says, the arrow lights up yellow when you have an open Liquibet.
This is only if you only look at liquibets when there is a new open one. I like to look at my stats and see what the vote distribution was for each bet.
Finding the Home button on the left was a lot more intuitive than semi center where it is now.
Not sure how often people change their filter settings. I for one set them once and that was it. Now the filter buttons are always there, very prominently, even though I have no use for them really.
A one-click My Posts button was really helpful. I used it a lot to quickly refresh my memory on what I had posted when and where. Subscribed Threads is not chronological when it comes to your own posts. It also does not directly take you to your own posts but only to either the top or the last unread post of a thread.
As for the dropdown login bar, I also feel it would be good if the dropdown state persisted so that you don't have to click the arrow again on each page load. Also, seeing all that dead space there now, I wonder why it was made dropdown in the first place. Something to be put there in the future?
Overall, everything looks slick. Immediately I feel like the buttons overall are too small. Could there be a way to adjust your personal icons Topleft? Perhaps a personal control panel to adjust the sizes? Additionally, clicking on your name should link to your profile, I really liked the functionality of that from the old UI.
With these three settings TL.net is pretty much back to what it was before (it still looks a bit different, but at leasts I don't have to constantly click a million times on everything).
On May 25 2013 07:57 jjwhg wrote: I went ahead and made a greasemonkey script that gets rid of those buttons to the left of "Home" that I keep accidentally clicking on.
1. The top left part is the part you scan first with your eyes when you want to navigate on pretty much any site. I feel like having a content filter there is a waste of important space that could be used better. The content filter is something you choose to set/configure once and then you forget about it forevermore. Having a feature that you will never pay attention to occupy the most important space of your website is not a good move IMO.
Either move it to the right of everything (except the search, which is where everyone expects it to be), or make it smaller and move it to the very top (to the right of Logout, your username, PMs etc).
In my opinion the filter needs to stand out less and meld better (big enough to be noticed, but small enough not to annoy you with its irrelevancy). It's an unimportant feature that you will configure once and only once, but yet in the current design it will keep occupying the largest and most important space of your interface design.

Is there a way to make the "more" button's content show up automatically? I'm used to see Liquibets and Fantasy on the top page without click of a button.

It is in the forum index, at the top, on the right.
Im not disagreeing with you, but I am trying to point out to people saying "goodbye my posts" that it is still there.
Everybody knows that it's still accessible though. It just takes like 3 clicks to get there now instead of one.
How do I filter just streams? I used to have my filter set to just BW and Others, but now, I can't seem to do that unless I don't wanna see the SC2 section either. Which Idk, I kinda do?
I dont like how the filter stuff is on the left side of the menu bar. On most website UIs home is the left most button, since that is generally the "first" button for people, and home is the most important button. To be honest I think filter should go back to being a submenu. Filter is something you set up once and forget about, I dont want to see it every time come here.
Also, have you considered using AJAX for the filter buttons? That way you dont have that reload 'blink' every time you press a button.
Also, Forum no longer has a mousover submenu. I only ever go to the SC2 forums, so that was a nice shortcut that is now gone.
The Filter Menu shouldn't be where it is. Setting your filters is something you do only once. Why should you always have to look at this? Additionally, Most people are used to clicking home right there.
The Streams List does not have as many filtering options as it used to. I used to display all streams, sorted by viewers. Now, the Stream List is forced to display streams by game, which I don't want. I also can't filter out specific games. What if I want to see DOTA news but not DOTA streams? I can't do that.
The Profile dropdown on the top left is just an additional click that I shouldn't have to do. Why is that dropdown there if the space below it is empty anyway? That doesn't make sense. Also, the My Posts link has gone missing from the Profile.
The Forum portion of the menu bar no longer has the subforums as a rollover menu. I always used this rollover, and I don't understand why it is gone.

Another positive is that this is getting me to use Subscribed Threads instead of My Posts. I wasn't sure about that at first but Subscribed Threads is better.

how do I filter news but have left sidebar remain for a game?
before I had sc2 news turned off but left sc2 forums on left sidebar
quick edit: also no posts? . I always used that all the fucking time to, say, come back to a thread I posted in (blog, general forum, this) to see discussion after I left, or especially if anyone responded to me if I had a question such as this. I know it's just a search for content only with my username but I used that almost daily.
much later edit: same thing as hall0wed below. I <3 my posts, never bothered with subscribed threads. Though I guess this was subscribed threads option anyways. That's all clear, but still wish I could hop to my own posts more easily as before. I really liked the last preupdated tl top left.

click on the SC2 nav_button so it goes to the off position, then click filter and make sure the sidebar has what you want shown enabled and not hidden.

having sc2 nav button pressed down removes left sidebar even though in the filter: section, all sections are in active. The sc2 nav button doesn't place sc2 sidebar into hidden.
I think there should be an option to hide the filter (and consequently make "home" the leftmost button again). I mean, once I set up the filters to my satisfaction, there really is no need to go back to it.

GOOGLE CALENDAR. This would be SO good to integrate with GSL, MLG, etc etc. Make one universal calendar. It's got an interface all setup for adding events, syncing, updating, filtering, hiding, etc. Would be WAY good to replace current calendar functionality with a Google Calendar.
I'm not sure how feasible this is as the calendar is the basis of the event system.
Shouldn't be too tough to tap into their API for the system and make the current "Events" Sidebar work in the same fashion it does now. Just when you click on the events or the calendar in general, it would take you to an embed of the google calendar, and each event could have its own page produced by google calendar's system.
It would allow people to sync their mobile calendars to TL's as well, which would be a really cool feature.
I thought it was fine before. What brought on this change? Were there actual complaint or was it just "update time?"
I prefer the filter options remaining in profile settings or wherever it was before. Now at the top it's just like, "You have disliked Dota. But you have the instant option of re-liking Dota. For-ev-er." Why does something we're all probably going to set ONCE have to be an immediately available option?

Bolded: Sounds like you are describing "Subscribed Threads"
This is going to sound nitpicky, and honestly none of the changes are such a big deal as to annoy me very much, but I might as well list my first impressions feedback:
I don't like filters always being visible, and in such prime real estate (even knocking the Home button over). I understand that many people didn't know how to use or where to find filter settings, but I think this is the wrong way to go about fixing that kind of problem. Now I am forced to look at a bunch of icons that have basically no use to me after I've clicked them once, and if I have any of them used it will look quite unsymmetrical all the time to boot.
Also, do the filters have fewer options than before, particularly when it comes to streams? In the past, I had certain games hidden on the stream list but liked having their forums on the side bar. I can't figure out how to do that or if its even possible now.
Hiding the menu options in the top left I think isn't a bad thing, it actually looks quite nice. I'm not sure if it is that effective at eliminating clutter considering how much is still in the top right, but it's not a bad change at all imo. Still, it would be nice if we could toggle some or all of the drop down to always appear.
I love the smaller calendar, I almost never used a full month without just clicking the calendar anyways.
I'm not sure what's up with the blank space between features and store in the menu bar. I don't know the benefit to store being right-aligned.
The frontpage news section feels very oddly cobbled together now. I wish I could see how it looked like before, I'm not sure how much it's actually changed so I can't say it's worse or better. I can say that I don't like how hidden the poll is and in general the amount of wasted space beneath the featured article section. I think I'd prefer the poll over the spotlight, but in either case something is being hidden 'below the fold'.
I do like the Featured Articles section, that bigger editorial TLFE stuff deserves the promotion space!
That's about it. The only thing that isn't just a matter of me not being used to it is the filter bar. That's the one thing I do hope gets changed back or at least moved. Simplest fix I would suggest is to just swap the Filter section and the regular menu bar such that the former is in the dark blue area and the latter is in the lighter blue section. They don't seem to take the same length, so maybe move the Streams button over next to Store as well and only make it Home/Forum/Liquipedia/Features in that left-justified bar.
Don't like it tbh. Pressing on filter instead of home. Have to press on arrow to see if there's any new liquibets open. More clicks to reach my posts. I also don't like race symbols next to the streams. I believe 99% of users who read TL for SC2 stuff know what races most of the featured players are playing anyway. It was easy enough to fix through adblock though.
As I always say and do, don't fix something that isn't broken.
On May 25 2013 07:57 jjwhg wrote: I went ahead and made a greasemonkey script that gets rid of those buttons to the left of "Home" that I keep accidentally clicking on.
I don't know where LiquidPro feedback should go, but I've had an issue with the site since the TL team branched out into other games (DotA2) and I figure this thread's as good as any to mention it. The twitter updates and player comments section is pretty badly designed, in that I and any other SC2/DotA2 only fans often have both filled entirely by players from the game we give zero shit about, especially when one player is posting/tweeting a lot. I was checking the site daily for those pretty handy tools, but after the DotA2 team joined there was a period where they interacted so much with the community (understandable of course) that none of the SC2 players ever showed up there, so I stopped visiting the site at all, and even now only check it out every other week or so. Whereas earlier today there were zero DotA2 relevant posts in those sections, so someone not interested in SC2 would have the same problem. IMO, having separate sections would be better design.
really cool update bro ! I'm very impress by so little change making all the difference.
Keep up the good work.
EDIT : one thing annoy me is the hidden top menu with "settings" but also liquidbet status. I prefer to see it (and don't miss any liquidbet). Could it be possible to have an option to set it "always shown" ?
Finally the banner is a link back to home. It's not even included in the patchnotes. For me this is the biggest thing.
Overall; great changes. Going to take some time getting used to, but after a week, it'll be way better. I'm sure.
Edit: If i were to comment on something, it would be to make the menu light blue, and the search box + filter box dark blue. That way filter + search gets less attention, and the menu more. Which is more logical, in my head at least. My eye keeps looking at the filter-options, which isn't really a good thing.
When i saw "filter" I Got my hopes up that the mafia filters would be extended to the rest of the site, shame that's not happening since I've always wonder how big they would get for posters in the large ongoing threads.
Looks good but the facebook, twitter and youtube icons make me sad. + Show Spoiler +

So I've been fiddling around with the new UI since the update. Overall, I quite like it. A few things I would suggest though:
1. Filters. I think filters should go inside some settings menu instead of being the biggest thing on the banner. It's not much of an inconvenience to see news from different games, and it's a settings that you change once and you're done. Everything else on the banner like PMs, Liquidpedia, Store, etc, are things you want accessible at all times.
2. Social Media. The facebook, twitter, and youtube icons are a bit of an eyesore since the entire page is a relaxing blend of blue and white, and then those 3 icons really jut out. Perhaps make them the same blue color scheme as the rest of the site instead of their original color. Or you could change them to text like how you have "TeamLiquid", "TeamLiquidPro", and the others.
I have Sports & Games - Diablo 3 turned on, yet it no longer appears in the sidebar..
Edit: "Other" games are off by default it seems, so Diablo 3 was gone too. Kinda confusing that you can turn a sub-forum on but overwrite it with a general game filter.
I'd like to be able to view sc2 news without having to enable sc2 streams.
Also, I do bw liquibets, but not sc2 liquibets. However, the arrow lights up regardless of which game the liquibet is for. An option to disable one or both of the games would be appreciated.
I'm going to misclick "filter" in place of "home" so many times! And social media icons don't fit that well with the main colour theme. That's my two extremely minor notes, anything else is great and whoever did this has my applause.

I just did that right now and came to thread to see if it was a complaint and sure as shit it was. That was an odd move on their part.
The new layout is fantastic; I love that I can click the banner now to get to the home page.
However, I'd like it if there was a way to have the liquibets menu open by default, rather than having to click the arrow every time. I'm rather OCD about checking on my fantasy all the time.
Cool that you guys updated everything. My one complaint is the filters. I may be the only one but I really don't want to see the SC2 or Dota2 news but I like seeing the streams on the side bar because I do watch them occasionally. Now the two are linked and I can't find any options to change them. If you guys could separate the two I'd go so far as to call this layout perfect =)
Not a fan of how big the filter toolbar is and how prominently it's displayed. I'd prefer to see it buried in settings seeing as most people will only use it once. Missing 'My Posts' too, subscribed threads just isn't the same.
It doesn't matter that you can click the banner to go home. The point is that web users have been TRAINED that the home link should be the FIRST item in a menu navigation. You can have the home link flash red and blue. It DOES NOT matter. Do not reinvent the wheel. Do not break ingrained web design rules.
Can you add a feature to filter out events from the event list/calendar? Its annoying to scroll through like 10 items to find when the next proleague match is going to be or whatever. Especially since many events may be dota or bw (or what if you're searching for bw events? its not even clear what game most events are for, no icon...) .
Personally I prefer seeing the words rather than pictures considering there aren't that many words (so it doesn't take up a lot of space) and I'm now trying to remember exactly what was there that now isn't (or isn't as obvious). Subscribed threads is Posts, yes?
If possible, I would probably just change back to how it was. I don't think that section is an improvement, at least. It's like all those changes in brand labels and packaging, where you just hate that idiotic marketing people are getting paid to change things either with go gain or often with worse design. This isn't that bad, but I don't see any point in it so far.
Couldn't you always click the banner to go to the home page?
EDIT: Oh, that is REALLY going to tick me off if I always have to click that silly button to reveal the rest of those (few) options! An option within the "Site Settings" or "Profile" to make that always show would be good (if we can't change back to the old skin).
I LOVE that I can now click the main banner. I absolutely, most definitely, enormously with a vengeance HATE than I don't have the Liquibets always visible anymore. Without that, how am I ever going to remember to bet?
I'm genuinely confused. Is there a "my posts" button anymore? I posted earlier asking but I DON'T KNOW WHERE MY POST WAS ON WHICH PAGE AND CAN'T FIND IT DUE TO THE LACK OF A BUTTON GRRR!!!
On May 25 2013 11:59 Kiett wrote: I'm really thrown off by the lack of the big SUBSCRIBED THREADS link... the new button is so tiny and hard to click :'(
I didn't even know it was the subscribed threads, I thought it had to do with staff uploads because of the folder image lol.
Overall I'm not that fussed about the changes though, I'll get over it.
Ok, so first, I know I can click the banner, I'm just used to clicking home. Second, if you want us to click the banner, then whats the point of the home button? Third, its annoying that every time I look to where I usually look for a home button, I see this filter stuff. Good UIs conform with other good UIs, which put the home button at top left. Also, reitterating my complaint (which is many pages back) about the new filter buttons: its a one time process. I dont need to see it every time I come on TL. It is wasting valuable real estate that could have a home button . The filter stuff is cool, and I like it, but it should be in a sub menu.
Soon, we will be visually updating the calendar and stream sections more too, as well as offering a premium no-ads feature
if you guys are going to offer a premium feature, you guys should give the people who get the "premium" accounts colored icon versions (or sc2 versions) instead of the bw counterparts
Is there a way to still get all the front page news from all the sections but limit the streams on right side bar? That customisation seems to have gone, I read news from all sections of the website but I don't need to know the streams and when they're on. I only need BW streams and events on the side bar.
I don't really like it. Looks cleaner, but I have to click more to get through the site and that is never a good thing. Getting to Liquibet and SC2 forums takes longer for me now and those are the main places I visit on TL.
Previously there was a tab under your name to view your posts, how do you access that now besides going to recent threads and trying to find your post?

1. You should. 2. Click the dota 2 button on the top menu bar next to where it says "Filter:" If it is sunken in then you don't see news of that type.
Thank you a million times over. Was wondering what to do to get rid of that.

I doubt the difficulty of keeping the drop down menu was the limiting factor in the change.
Get rid of that damn elephant adblock ad though, just put a link to the shop or something because there is 0 chance i will ever stop using adblock but a much higher chance i might purchase something from liquid...
I just don't get why the toggles for the different news (which are used once and usually never again) are so prominent whereas stuff that's used daily like 'My Posts' and 'FPL'/Liquibets are hidden?
How can I toggle a single race in the Live Stream sidebar? I've figured out how to filter it down to SC2, but I can't figure out how to filter it to SC2 Terran streams.
I'm surprised about the number of people complaining about it being hard to click the new subscribed threads icon. I'd expect better mouse accuracy out of a site full of StarCraft players.
Looks pretty nice so far, but i just had to search for the D3 subforum and you have to make a lot more clicks to get there than before, that´s never really a good thing. But i guess it landed there because it´s not that active anymore?

While it looks a little bit better, it's a lot more inefficient.
Besides; the filters for which games are shown does not work at all. I get Dota 2 / LoL / Brood War streams even though I've filtered all out except from SC2.
I don't think the filters are logical. At first I thought pressing the SC2 button would choose to show only sc2 content instead of hiding it. I think it would be better to have buttons in pressed state for the content what you want to see.
It is absolutely fantastic! Now when I want to go to the forums, I have to scroll my ass off to actually get to them, even when I filtered out everything...
oh no, you changed the height of the banner at the top, when i scroll with my mousewheel two times down from the top of the site it now will cut off the name of the thread i'm reading/stream i'm watching! the horror!
I especially miss the right sidebar customisation. Actually the thing I miss most is customisation options. I like to disable all SC2 news but have the SC2 general section stashed at the bottom of my sidebar for news/interviews involving BW pros. Now it seems I cannot do that.
I strongly disagree with having the filter buttons at the top left. Not only are they visually too distinct (do they have to be so big?), they also occupy an important spot. As others said, it's something you very rarely change, so they should go to your site preferences. On a similar note, social media should return back to the bottom of the page.
I dislike the new login section - I use BW liquibet but not the SC2 one, and now the icon will light to alert if any of the two are upcoming. This makes it permanently lit and useless as an alert (for me).
Thankfully a kind and wise script wizard has provided us with tools to rectify some of that (thank you, jjwhg!). But some of the customisation options we had are missing, so maybe they can be a part of the upcoming update? I had the stream section with just the tags, which made it more compact than filtering streams by game.
I've been using scripts before anyway for things like, say, the POWER RANK. I enjoyed everytime I was scrolling through a thread to glance right and see Fantasy at his rightful #1 spot. And for the menus (this was before TL introduced sidebar customisation).
Also how do I get to the TLFEs? To me they are the most important part of TL and one of the things that are likely to make people stick (they sure did for me). I believe they deserve a spot in the spotlight or a place on the new and barren top menu. Clicking on the Featured News brings the archive of frontpage news which is not quite the same (and is important in its own right, but does not correspond to the items that are 'featured').
There small things like the number of active users moved down or KST not being on top of the three clocks (KST is TL main time after all, is should be on top!)
I like the new weekly calendar And TL banner working as an additional home button is perfect.
I am sad to say that I dislike the changes so far, but this might change pending what you guys are planing to change/include in the next update. Thankfully there was no banner change
Edit: Thanks for chiming in, Nazgul! I eagerly await what staff can cook up.
Kittan you seem like a user who has an extremely customized design, so unfortunately you have taken a hit on several things you liked. I can tell you that some of your concerns will be brought back and/or improved. It will take some time to go over everything with our staff and to implement the changes. We're reading a lot of things that make sense.
My biggest request: Make the drop down in the top menu toggle-able. So I don't have to press it every time I switch from thread to thread. Also I would like for the liquibets to remain yellow so I notice them. But again, it is mainly personal preference.
I'd like the Liquibets, FPL/FGSTL, my posts and the other stuff that was in top left to be immediately available again.
Sure, it looks slick now, but having very useful stuff available in one click trumps everything imho. And a coloured arrow doesn't stand out enough to alert me about having forgotten a bet or something else.
Well pressing home button where you now placed filter was already a muscle memory for me. So I still click there all the time. Otherwise its a nice change.
I miss that the feature news takes so much less space (thats the only thing I care about on the home page and now its gone) and instead the feature articles takes up 50% of the space, I mean "Order Heart of the Swarm through TL". Thats several months old.

This ! I'm mostly a lurker and not a power user of this site. I go to TL only to read the sc2 and sc2 tournaments subforums. Before, I had just to put my mouse over forum, then click on sc2. Now I have to click on Forum, then scroll down a lot to find sc2 and sc2 tournament subforum it's quite painful.
When I go into liquibets, everything except BW and Teamliquid is blank. I was kinda just betting on the sc2 section and it gives me just zero's Please, kindly inform an old nub on what he does wrong ^^
So now we have to click for BW and LoL if we want more info on them. It still sounds backwards to me. ._. I noticed the changes as soon as I logged in.
Um guys I don't even see the box for LoL in the settings. It looks more tidy from the log-in phase but I actually like seeing what bets are up and clicking directly on my fantasy teams. :/ I don't see LoL anywhere.

Liquibet doesn't require another click to see, as the OP says, the arrow lights up yellow when you have an open Liquibet.
Geographically a home button moving is an issue and we hope people can get used to the new location. As you said it is not easy to change things and make it design-wise good for everyone.
Only irk I have is with the arrow button, because I never vote for bw liquibets would there be any way there could be anyway to distinguish between an open bw liquibet and an open sc2 liquibet?
On May 25 2013 18:14 B.I.G. wrote: I want the my posts option back
same here!
Oh are we talking about going directly to our own posts? That would indeed be useful, it's this feature that I used that allowed to me to go back to a thread where I had asked a question to see if anyone had answered. It allowed me to pick up the discussion right where I posted. That said, it wouldn't be really hard to get used to the subscribed thread thing.
Everything seems fairly nice besides that.
Perhaps bringing the calendar back to the way it used to be would be nice as well, because a 1 week calender doesn't look nice at all. Furthermore the month long calender allowed one to see what good events would be coming up at what time. Also I think it's a day off? The 25th (today) is a Saturday, not a Friday. It's just that a week long calendar just seems pointless. :p
A little suggestion might be to have a "subscribe to event" sort of feature (maybe this already exists and I'm just not aware of it ^^). For example, I could subscribe to the GSL and on the calendar, the days where there are GSL matches that will play (even if everyone already KNOWS it's Tuesday to Thursday) will be red instead of blue. In the "upcoming events" list right under the calendar, events we subscribed to would show up in a different color than the others. Something like that, just throwing that idea out there.
The previous setup for the User section in the top left was fine. Now it's just more clicks to get to the same place, but the space is just being wasted. There's no real need for the change other than to "declutter" but that "decluttering" just makes it require more effort to get back to the things which were there, which makes it worse to navigate.
Also as above, bring back "My Posts", I used that pretty much all the time. And don't make it hidden. Unless you are saving space to use for something else, it's just a pain to have to click twice instead of once to get where I want to go.
I don't know if it is me getting old, but I liked the old design better.
My one big gripe is that the "news archive" is so small, and the news section that used to be where the featured articles is right now is gone.
Secondly now i have to click the little triangle in the top every time I want to check if there are new liquibets, instead of them being visible all the time.
PS: Is there any way to remove the spotlight section from the front page.
Edit: I don't liquibet on BW, so the arrow in the top will always be orange for me. So I can never tell if there are new SC2 bets.
Also i think the filters should be moved to the right
Here's where we're at right now for upcoming improvements based on the feedback. There will be more, but some require additional discussion internally.
Hey, how come we don't have an "admin" section either? I'm really confused is this something you unlock after a period of time and/or posts?
Anyway jokes aside I take back what I said early about wanting to see "my posts" like we used to be able to. The subscribed threads button is pretty easy and simple to use, I really like it. Maybe just add an option to have "favorite" threads at the top (like the pony thread, Got thread, fanclubs, etc).

Can't you bring back the specialized frontpages, like www.teamliquid.net/bw/ ? This was the fastest way of filtering most content to match my preferences, and it didn't even require me to log in. Anything else (logging in, clicking to remove SC2 / DOTA content) is just so much slower.
Also, before it was possible to hide SC2 / DOTA streams. Now they are visible even when I'm logged in, and I can't figure out how to remove them in my account settings.
"More" triangle should have option to be enabled forever, instead of having to click it every time.
Elaborate scheme by the staff to get higher Liquibet scores by getting thousands users to occasionally miss voting. :p
action\clicks before after Liquibet check 0 1 Liquibet open 1 2 My posts open 1 3
P.S. Funnily, you can get the "My posts" clicks down to 2, by clicking the Private Messages icon, and then clicking "My posts" (instead of Triangle/Profile/My posts). Good to know, but seriously, why do you want me to do this?
P.P.S. I also prefered the streams to just have [BW] / [SC2] / [Dota 2] tags, instead of the current way of grouping. Too bad there's no way to make it back to how it was...
YOU CAN CLICK THE TL BANNER INSTEAD OF THE HOME BUTTON
Ye.. no.
I can't see how you think the new filter bar is more relevant than the menu bar. Can you please switch them? I used to click the home button all of the time, now I just end up accidentally clicking the filter button every time. Updates are great, but a user ultimately decides how an interface is going to be used. You can't sacrifice usability like this and then say "WELL YOU DID IT WRONG IN THE FIRST PLACE".
any enlightment on how all these changes seemed needed? like, why change stuff and often make it more complicated than before, even though the old one was working perfectly fine.
To be honest, i dislike the changes, back if you clicked on"Brood War" or "Dota 2" forums, you were straight at their forums, now you have to scroooooooooooll down to get what you need. There should be a quick link to them.
Also what others said, why change everything to be more complicated?
My script works for the moment, but it would be nice if colorization or other visual indications of the type of game would be available by default.
It's a good suggestion that has been on our mind as well. We haven't come up with a clear but non intrusive design to our liking yet, and the one you linked to definitely isn't it either. Eventually something like this will come, but it's not part of the current process.
I've set my filter to remove SC2 and DotA2 from the sidebar, but is there any possibility to actually remove the Filter buttons? To be honest the icons are ugly and it ruins the classic feel of the website, sorry to whoever invested the effort in it :X So in a essence removing this bit.

Maybe it would be an idea to make the filter bar visible on mouseover only?

Great idea. With a forum drop down feature coming, my only other real complaint is the size of the filter, it is too big and takes up too much space for something that most people (including me) just set and forget. But it isn't a huge deal either way.

How do I find my posts (without using a forum search, which is often out of date, anyway)? I can only see my subscribed threads. T_T It is hard when my posts get lost in an active thread ><
Edit: Nevermind! Found it. Click on your account's dropdown arrow (top left), Profile, then click on My Posts. A few more clicks than before, but glad it's still there.
I am sorry but Flash-Ads on the frontpage with sound are not okay. I disabled my adblock for TL but only because I trust you to use them responsibly. Please check this.
With the previous version I had the general forum link in a bookmark and by simply clicking it, boom general+sports/games section on the top. These sections are the ones I visit most.
Now it seems that I can't have general+sports in the top with any filter combination whatsoever, so do I really have to search the whole forums every time I wanna visit them? Ofc I can make 2 separate bookmarks, one for each but that's not as convenient as before.
*oh I just found the general threads link in the top bar, no harm done then.

Add an advanced filters link in the filter menu and add customization for stream/news/calendar.
Introduce the option to completely remove races (the actual races, not the icons) from the SC stream section.
If you have filtered games out you shouldn't see Liquibet color for those
The option in your settings to get rid of the big filter buttons
Add back forum dropdown. We gain too little by removing it.
awesome. but PLEASE bring back the "my posts" button. if you read through this thread, you will see tons of people who used this button all the time and want it back. yes, it can still be accessed, but its much more inconvenient now. also note that many people, myself included, prefer the "my posts" list over the "subscribed threads" list.

Definitely on our mind as well, just less of a clear-cut thing so don't have updates on it yet.
The ''spotlight'' part of the site, on the middle right, still has Dota 2 news for me, despite filtering it. The rest of the site is completely clear of any Dota stuff, so I think my filter is not bugged or anything like that. Intended?

Spotlight doesn't have a game filter it's just cool stuff to read that comes out of the forums. This one is a blog for example.

Alright fair enough, it's just that 4 out of 5 spots are Dota at the moment. I don't really care to read those, so it's a bit of a waste of space for me personally with the current spotlight articles.
Beside that though, I really love the new look and layout! Especially the filter
I don't like how there isn't a dropdown menu for forum selection anymore. I used to enjoy just clicking on the general tab to get only the general forums... but there doesn't seem to be a way to accomplish this anymore.
I really dislike the removal of "my posts" and it's replacement with well nothing, I loved being to able to be just one click from seeing not only the threads I posted in but links to the actual posts as well.
Oh well I can still get that through the search tools, not a big deal
I too would like the my post back on the front or next to my blog. Also I can only see my most recent post in a thread and not a link to each post like I see if I click on someone else's posts.
The filter is the dumbest thing ever. I clicked on Brood War and had the longest confusion when brood war was nowhere to be found. The filter is designed like a standard button set where the thing you clicked is the thing you want rather than the thing that you DON'T want.
Change is good, but I missed the old functionality. It looks cheeky but like all new things in general look>function. I can get used to it but I don't like it now. I wish you'd preserve our old habits with a new look. It is like throwing out your PC to get a brand new dumb console.
I think the "filters" section should be moved to the center of the page, and the Home/Forum/Streams/Liquipedia/Features should be back to the left where it used to be. It's much more intuitive to look for "Home" in the top left rather than awkwardly just left of center.

Not sure if it was mentioned but there doesn't appear to be any quick way now to view your posts, other than using the search which is slightly annoying.
jesus christ i thought TL was full of people that understood how the internet worked and realised that making changes to a successful site was retarded. guess i was wrong. i've not even looked at what the changes do, but what part of "isn't broke, don't fix it" don't you understand?

Sorry if al ready asked, couldn't find it.
I am still trying to figure out how to hide the BW+ Dota streams but still can't figure it out. I keep trying to click on "Right side bar settings" and it just takes me to a 404 Not found page :/

i like everything except the calender, because i check the results the next day after like a certain tournament had happened (ex. according to the calender gstl NHSH vs MVP happened on the 25th, and i check on the 26th) but now its like i have to find the 25th schedule and its kinda annoying haha i guess the only fix i can ask for would probably be to put the current day in the middle and put 2 days back and 3 days forward ex. today the calender says its the 26th. 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30.

god, this filter button drives me crazy.. yes, i know i could click the TL banner, but clicking the same position for years has become a pretty big habit. please put the filter options in the middle and the menu buttons back to the left

Thank you for your time and effort. It happened only once today so it is not too much of a problem. Btw I like the recent changes, please keep up the good work
The "Posts" link near the login was hugely valuable to me. Click on it, click on my most recent posts, scan for replies. Not having it is a HUGE pain in the ass. Please consider replacing it.

I need to get to my ban-people options faster >:0
You better boss. It's one of the things I find the most bothersome. I mean it certainly looks cleaner like I said before but I like to know when such things are open and what not.
I would still prefer to see 2 desperate sites entirely for SC/SC2 and DotA2. I know there are nice functioning filters blah blah but I mainly use the university computers to visit TL (I don't login to my account) and it's really annoying to see the news bit flooded with Dota 2 content and only with 1 Starcraft related piece.
Sure I can 1 click the filter (which I do) but it's a pain in the ass and ruins the TL experience for people who only visit here for sc content..
How come you guys are moving things around for the sake of moving things around?
Like damn after years of hitting the home button or rightclicking -> open new tab on Home and now instead of Home being their you've decided to move it by the banner and now the Filter button (which is worthless 99% of the time except that one single time you decided to change your filter changes) is where the most prominent button used to be.
I mean I'll learn and adapt it's not a big deal in the long run.. but what the fuck?
Edit: Lmao just read top of thread about home button, rofl.
i keep getting a bug where some of my active sections of boards are not appearing. for example, there are times when the SC2 section of the whole site is just gone.
Haha. I saw the folder and thought I had gotten the fabled staff uploads. Turns out it was just subscribed.
I wonder if there's anyway to allow this clean option for some people, but allow people that want their messy liquibets, my posts, etc perma shown? A little gold triangle is not a very large reminder that something is up. And fantasy league is out of sight, out of mind. I personally use both 'my posts' and 'subscribed' because I disabled auto subscribed threads and have a select 20 or so threads instead.
There's no reason for filters to always be visible. How often do people really change which games they play? That's some account settings stuff. I miss the forum dropdowns. They made it easy to get to the forums I wanted to. I miss the posts link too. This was how I tracked the threads I care about. I honestly don't see any upside to these changes.
With the new calendar, how do I look at events from yesterday when its the first day of the week? I like to hover over the previous day to see what events happened so I can check the results but I can't access yesterday since it was part of last week.
I cannot see any streams besides BW streams. I have tried clicking everything on and of in the personal settings, but nothing works. Is it a problem with the site or did i miss something obvious?

Have you tried adjusting the right side sidebar settings? The button is under TLPD.

Yes, I have tried with all the settings off and only starcraft 2 settings on, but nothing related to starcraft 2 shows up under streams... only BW and Dota. I I know Grubby, Idra and some others are streaming now, so I really don't get it ?_?
This is really frustrating, please bring back My Posts!!!! I use this button probably more than any other link, and many other TL'ers have expressed the same opinion.
All is now shinny and great, but I think you guys did one mistake: the FPL link/Liquibets are now hidden. This was one of the coolest things of the site, and it always caught my attention and kept me hooked on games. Just taking that out of immediate visibility was a bad move, in my humble opinion.
On May 27 2013 12:35 happyness wrote: The race icons aren't working for me anymore. Did I accidently turn it off?
I could not get them away but suddenly they went by themselves so I guess something was changed. You can click "Show race icons for StarCraft streams" in the right sidebar settings

edit: I use Opera, and apparently it is only with that browser it doesn't work. Kinda annoying..
Opera is kinda weird in this regard. It seems to be one of the most problematic browsers for TL, although I never have any trouble with it elsewhere. I think there was a couple of versions with a ton of bugs on them, and TL just brings them out more than other sites. But its all working perfectly for me now.

The lock option fixes 90% of my problems with the new layout (mostly liquibet related haha) Thanks for the hard work guys!
Only gripe I have left is the fact that new liquibets are bold white vs regular white font. The old yellow really did stand out a lot more.. I wouldn't have to 'check' to see if there are new liquibets as it stood out and alerted me. I could see myself missing bets pretty easy this way. Thanks anyways!
Read the last 5 pages, i have an small issue (bug?) that does not sort the stream list properly. I use game then viewers, and it does not sort by viewers.
It would be nice to have the liquibets and Fantasy links shown, or at least a link to them without having the drop down. It's just adding a step to a daily process for most
The changes may have changed the way TL looks, but I do like them. I also like how I can pin the drop down so it feels and looks at least a little like the TL of old . Then again, I wasn't here for the oldest versions of TL, so I probably shouldn't get so nostalgic.
EDIT: maybe this was explained earlier, but I can't see the number of people browsing TL anymore, I really used that to judge site activity, is there any way for us to see that?

Bottom left of the entire page.
Also, when I turn off BW, why do I still see the Replays section? Aren't those for BW only anyway? And if I turn off SC2, and have liquipedia on left sidebar set to Dota 2, why do I see ">> Recent SC2 Results / >> Premier SC2 Tournaments"? Just wondering really, I was testing them out as I leave everything open most days.

The lock/pin button fixes the only issue I had with the new layout. I would recommend making it more obvious (maybe less opacity) though as I heard about the functionality on the gd show, went looking for a way to pin the menu open, couldn't find it, looked in the settings etc, finally came to this thread and found the note about it and a screenshot. Now that I know, I'm set, but I'm guessing other users who want this functionality but don't look into it as much might overlook the icon. Anyway, just a usability suggestion, thanks for adding the option!
I really like the (recent) changes! The design is now more streamlined and easier to navigate through. My only complaint is the forum time. I don’t care what time is used internally but there should be an option (e.g. a simple checkbox in the profile settings) that converts KST into the time zone you specified in your profile automatically. Maybe use the [time]-tags in the post title if possible?
One suggestion I have for the menu bar at the top. When mouseovering Forum, Liquidpedia, or Features, it brings up a dropdown menu. Do you think it would be a good idea to either make the submenu items organized vertically or increase their height by a couple pixels, or maybe both? For everything else on the computer and internet, I am accustomed to menu items being vertical, and it's very easy to quickly and accurately click on a dropdown menu item when only needing to move your mouse in the y-axis. When a dropdown menu is horizontal, I have to move my mouse in both axis without mouseovering the other buttons and it seems a bit more tedious. Additionally, the distance between the Forum button and the Blogs button in its dropdown menu would be greatly reduced with vertical arrangements.
The new PM icon is too small and thus doesnt give much of an alert when someone PM you. I'd love to have the big yellow PM notification back in some way
Small question, sorry if it has already been addressed before, can the livestream section be also given the option to "group" just like the menu on the left. I would like to only see say... dota 2 streams or even just favorites.
So... I just descovered that it is ONLY when i am logged in that I cannot see other streams than BW, despite having everything set to being showed as on. It does not matter how much I try and fiddle with the settings, nothing changes. I have tried this in both chrome and opera. Do you have any ideas as to what is wrong???
*Salivates at the idea of having icons appear for League and Dota2 champs streams are currently playing in their live games* Now that would be a really neat feature to have.
