However, when you post on this thread, if you could include your ladder division (aka gold, platinum, masters) that will help a lot in creating the tournament brackets. Bring your own keyboard/mouse/mousepad/headset if you wish. If you don't, they are provided for free by Eudemonia (however I would suggest bringing your own for comfort and to avoid greasy headsets and such). You cannot bring your own computer, as the LAN Center doesn't allow it. Parking InformationThere are parking garages in the vicinity that give pretty cheap parking, as well as streetside meters that you can generally find nearby. However, the meters are 2 hour parking at max, so be careful about getting a ticket. After 6PM, all streetside parking is free. Eight groups of four to five players, seeded by SC2 ladder division. Top two players of each group advance to the Ro16 bracket stages.
Bracket stages – Double Elimination Format
Ro16 – Best of 1 Match
Ro8 – Best of 3 Match
Semifinals – Best of 3 Match
Finals – Best of 5 Match
(If losers bracket finalist loses Bo5, the finals are over. If winners bracket finalist loses Bo5, the match is extended to a Bo9 retaining the previous scores)
6:30PM – Dinner break. Players will go together to a local restaurant and are advised to bring about $10 for dinner. Players are free to eat by themselves if they do not want to go with the group.
7:30PM – Bracket stages resume (generally the Ro16)
9:30PM – Anticipated start time of finals

Sweet! Thread updated and I also put an Additional Information section. If you guys could do a favor when posting and put your ladder division, I think that will speed up the tournament bracket creation process a lot on the day of the event.

We try to run an "Effort!" tournament for everybody that gets knocked out during pool play, but it often devolves into everybody screaming at each other while we play TronCraft and team mono battles. haha. Also... watching amazing players play their games is huge huge amounts of fun. We hang out and debate the merits of their strategies while they play in the other room (or sometimes right behind them lol).
Previous places we've gone for dinner have included Mayflower (the Chinese place next door), and Round Table Pizza across the street. For food we just kind of wing it. One time we tried to walk all the way to the durant food court (I've always known it as the asian ghetto though haha) but it proved too far... more time spent walking means less time for troncraft so we'll probably just go across the street for something again =)

Are registrations for the tournament limited to a certain number of people? And is everyone who's confirmed as going actually competing?

No there's no limit, although if we pass 40 or so there will be issues with getting on to computers, but it won't be as bad as before since the store has added more computers and also with 12:45 check in there will be less regulars using computers. People who are confirmed are just people who will show and may or may not play (they might just spectate), it's their choice! ^^

Yeah basically my gf was like "you're totally spending this weekend with me since it's my last really free one" and I was like "i'm kinda busy saturday" and she's like "oh what are you doing" and i'm like "um... playing sc2 with some dudes I met on the internet" and she's like "that's cool, we can still hang out at your place while you do that right" and I was like "well i'm actually driving to berkeley and am gonna be there until midnight" and she was like "wat" and it sort of went downhill from there...

Ok so the things for tomorrow look like this. The expected schedule is still posted in the main op. Check-in and signups for tournament begin at 12:45 PM but the latest you can come is 2:00 PM, which is when brackets are generated.
Brackets will be generated into probably 8 groups of 5 (considering we get about 40ish players), seeded by ladder division, and the top two of each group advance to the bracket stages (ro16). Each game is a bo1 in the pool play, ensuring at least four matches total.

If players cannot agree on a map, vetoing will take place until a final map is chosen. Loser chooses the next map to play on.
This is what the map pool is looking like right now, give me suggestions if you think it can be improved. I put the iCCup map in there because I feel it looks interesting and would be a cool map for people who might want to play it, but it will probably be vetoed most of the time anyway ^^

Ya, this event was a ton of fun and I think we know a lot of things we can do to make it better the next time, specifically time-wise since it went on for quite a while and vileState actually ended up having to leave. The next event will probably be in 1-2 months, if you'd like you can have me add you to the mailing list and I'll send emails announcing whenever future events are coming up.
