Hey there!
Introduction I have created a Chrome extension to give a more pleasing experience during the night to eyes of gamers who visit teamliquid.net. The idea sprung up when I got pretty much flashed by the bright design when alt-tabbing from Starcraft while sitting in a pitch-black room.
This project has undergone extensive changes since the beginning which has brought both good and bad news. Good news: easier to manage for me and a more secure and stable experience for the end-user. Bad news: the theme will only be available for Chrome until I have ported the extension to Firefox & Opera (something I am planning to do.)
This means that the userscript on userscripts.org will be discontinued. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to loyal users who enjoyed the past userscripts.
Preview Here is a screenshot preview of how the website will look:
Version 19.0.2

I'm probably not going to use this because I like the light-screened version better, but it still looks sick. Great job!
|
Will have to give it a try! :D
|
This does look nice. I might try it out as I like darkening everything.

Great work. I like my websites lighter but I am sure there will be tons of fans of your work. =D
|
OMG this is amazing man! i cant thank you enough, using it right now, and it looks really good. Actually adds a lil bit of flare to the site. no offence TL i love the site as is as well! but this is truly awsoeme. thanks again.
Small suggestion, when in preview mode, the previewed text is a lil bit hard to read, might just be me tho!
|
Yeah, very cool with various TL themes. I'll be sticking to the original one since it fits me perfectly though. GW!
|
link will not work for me (chrome user)
Edit: Nvm I am an idiot
|
Nice work, I really like darker themes. Easier on the eyes. Few things though:
Maybe an option to have the background just a grayscale? The planet is cool and all, but it's a little distracting.
Also, you might want to make the signature bar the same color as the background of the text. For people who don't have a signature, or just a mood, it appears as a big black solid line which is kind of awkward to look at. TL just distinguishes the post from the signature with a line -- maybe you could do that too?
|
great theme, would be great if the 4 preview boxes of the news were dark too. I also noticed a blue stripe on the right side of the TL banner when watching a stream:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/45WPj.jpg)
those are the only bugs I noticed, good theme overall
|
I prefer this. Thankyou, sir.
|
awesome stuffs man. Thanks!

Darker Site=Better for your eyes.
|
Really good, the only problem I have, is that you can't read blue/red names
|
this is amazing! thank you so much. now TL finally comes in something that's a bit more friendly to the eyes.

It looks amazing, but it would throw me off using my iPod it's much easier to have one theme in general. But don't let that throw you off. Come on people, this is great work. Give the man some recognition.
|
This is a really cool theme :D I just started using it ^.^
|
It looks very nice, but for me it first loads the original skin, then applies the dark colors every time I load a new page. I'm using Chromium on Ubuntu.

Same here, Firefox 3.6.

Ah man, this is perfect! Makes it so much easier for me to read long pages of text now!

The thought is good but alot of Javascript is required for restyling teamliquid because there are alot of elements you cannot access and edit with simple css.
Greasemonkey and Stylish are very different in that sense, they work very differently from eachother, while one will load any javascript after the page is loaded, the other will load a style before the page gets loaded.

I installed this on Google Chrome and I'm not sure that I like it more than the original skin. How can I revert back to the original?

Ah, that did the trick. Thanks :D
|
I like it alot, reading posts is a little bit more difficult with the blacks of the title and the signature or "quote" but besides that I love it, good work.
|
Thanks a lot, man. Using it now. Looks great!
|
Wow! Its as if this was made just for me, blends in with everything! Nice work man.
|
Need to change the img over the login, The blue is too contrasting with the dark theme (But when you log in it looks perfect). Other than that it looks awesome, i've used grease monkey for a long time now and this is a nice addition to my list of scripts.

Thanks, prob using this forever

22 posts? This project is coming from quite the... Dark horse.
Seriously, good job I plan to use it myself.
|
A little too dark for me, but very impressive O_O
|
Neat, thanks! I was expecting a little more midnight blueness rather than grey, but it's not bad at all.
|
After the update, the only thing that turns Black is the Header. I deleted cookies and all, it doesn't work anymore Edit: Suddenly works again...
|
As someone who reads TL at odd hours of the night in dark rooms I appreciate a theme that doesn't burn my eyes with searing brightness.
Thanks man ^^
|
I think if the full site were to use it I would suggest it be a toggle feature, or comes on during night time so your screen isn't as bright when you try to watch BW at 4 in the morning
|
There seems to be some huge compability issues with Chrome I am planning on adding an option to switch between light & dark theme depending on the time in your timezone. I might also have some bandwidth problems, if the script continues to malfunction(not load/slow loadtime) for people, I will migrate to a better host.
|
Oh man lol so simple to use and it looks so smexy! Gj
|
thanks for this. its awsome!
|
Thank you for doing this now. Light themes are one of my pet peeves and to have a dark theme is just awesome. It looks great and, to be honest, I can't spot that many issues with it. This is incredibly awesome and more people need to appreciate it.
|
GJ dude, i like my screens dark, and this has just made my day.
|
I always prefer the darker versions. GJ.
|
Excellent work my good man.
|
theme looks great just a few things i've noticed that maybe you want to know about: loads slow sometimes which i see you're addressing and this:
http://imgur.com/3AAHR
not a big deal just thought you would want to know
|
Also it is working fine now, but for a while when i opened TL it wouldn't turn dark it would just turn the logo at the top dark.. but then if I clicked on a link then hit BACK it would turn the whole site dark. But again if I opened another link it would go back to white. Just letting you know.
|
the bottom border of the replay box on the left is still blue instead of black, great job over all, thanks a lots.
|
Tried it and it looked very good. But the scrolling got slow for me (chrome) I use a high end computer
|
Using firefox and it works just fine. Thank you for your work! :D
|
It's really nice, but the ~1-2 seconds of white before turning black is a deal breaker
|

The forum username. Just look at the first page with the black theme on. It's really hard to see flamewheels name if your not pressing with your nose on the monitor.
Edit: oh i guess it's only for me or only in chrome because it looks way darker when i see it.

Id use this if the black theme wouldnt render after the page is loaded ;__; would be nice if TL staff could implement this theme into their site, since its so damn secksie.

I wonder if this could be integrated into the main site as an optional skin.

It would indeed. The render would indeed disappear. I wouldn't mind helping them set it up but it is by all means understandable that they would not do it, there's alot of things to consider.

Looks really interesting, I''ll give it a try! Looks awesome anyways good work dood.

I really really like this other then the interface with the spotlight thread. its a really white and brash and other then a little sharpening on the colors its an amazing theme I will keep this up

omfg this is SO SICK. btw the loading thingy is like 0.05 secs, so nothing to feel concerned about for me. THANKS a bunch.

I must say, this is pretty awesome. If only it didn't load the page in blue first... but I guess that's the price you have to pay, eh?
Overall good work! I'll definitely be using it.

I have added a QuickQuote feature, when you click on QuickQuote above a post, the quote will appear in the textarea at the bottom, you can do this for several posts to easier reply to several people at the same time. Hope it's an appreciated feature!

Could not get it to work with opera using the guide! but i'm noob so it might be just me doing something wrong ^_^ would love to know if anyone got it to work with opera
|
Ohmygosh. This theme is pretty sick. I'm using it right now, and I'm loving it. Anyways, my only criticism is that the theme kinda has to load when going from page to page, so if that could be fixed, that would make this theme even more awesome. =D

I like it, but the other website is also very nice. I think I'll just alternate

This is really cool. I think official TL should implement this as well -.^ I hate opening up the 'quote' link in new tabs just to copy-paste and close it so I can keep writing my main post.

This is a very good feature indeed. Very well done i really appreciate your contribution to the community. I tried it out and it looked great. But im sticking to the original for nostalgia.

Hmmm the replies look a little bit off with pure black, and the way it flashes with normal colours first is annoying, but otherwise i love it edit:post/preview/update buttons :/ too Currently deciding if i want to keep it

Hey man thanks a bunch this is rather cool. Going to give this a test for a while :D

As already mentioned in the feedback form, I would use it if it would underline the thread names on the left side menu when you move your cursor over it, feels more accurate and original. It would also be great if the buttons "POST" "UPDATE" and "PREVIEW" would light up when posting a comment with your cursor over it.
EDIT: Does not lag when I scroll, but I just do not like the change time of 0.5 seconds every time I click a link, does not feel original.
|
|
Some of the news posts arent readable with this theme, I think it would be cool to have TL dark, but the way this addon does it (loading again and again when a new page opens) it kind of useless and ennoying to use, also you should maybe include a HOW TO REMOVE thingie in the OP

This is awesome and would love to keep it on, but I'm not sure about being flashed a white page for 2 seconds before the theme kicks in. The constant eye adjusting is more of a pain than staring at the original white page.
|
Great look. Unfortunately on Chrome it is slow to scroll down, though general loading of pages is quick.
Good work, well done!

nvm just read the OP's edit note; it's ok, i'll just open the links in a different tab and wait for the page to load (aka 2 seconds)
thank you a lot again

If you ask me, I think this should be the default theme for TL.

Ran into a problem, when i turn off the lightbulb to make it dark it only affects the big TL banner and the rest of the site is still bright. Can't make it go dark at all anymore, don't know why. i tried disabling the addon and re-enabling, didn't work either. Got any solution?

I love this, it's way friendlier to my eyes. I will be using it, but I really hope that somehow a fix comes in for the site flashing regular before the dark style is loaded. The only solution I can think of is to have TL incorporate this into the site, so you can toggle the two styles. Many sites do this, I hope this happens since I come on here a lot. Thank you for this.

there are some places where there is white text on light(bright?) gray background. Sc2 fantasy league and spoilers tab for the gsl july special. I don't know where else this may occur.
|
This is cool...now how do I turn it off?
|
Really really love the look of it, however my main gripe with it is the fact that it takes that extra few seconds to load it over each page.
|
|
i like everything except for the left side links idk if its just the .........s underlining it letting us know its a link or what but overall i think it looks great
|
really cool; would be amazing if there was a way to make it black all the time and not turn blue for like a sec when you update / change thread

Really nice work sir, my eyes appreciate your effort very much! Thanks a lot.

Looks interesting - at first I thought this was a Win7 theme and got so excited
|
for some reason, whenever i click links or navigate around, the screen turns white/back to the original theme then flashes against to the black theme on chrome. should it be like that?
|
woah, i love this. so pretty ( and less bright! )
|
So ez on the tired eyes. I just hate the loading everytime you switch pages which i do often.
|
This makes TL look so damn good.

|
Thanks very much I really like the dark theme; looks awesome. Ohh damn, the light bulb to make it light or dark mode is genius.

This is really great for warm summer nights when I want to have my window open but I don't want to attract tons of insects to the light, thanks.
|
This is pretty awesome. I wish I could relocate the lightbulb though. It's a little difficult to ignore when it keeps moving around behind the steam list/calender.
|
This is great! Especially helps late at night when everything is dark except the monitor, wont be blinded anymore :O
|
So I just got this, and it is awesome--really easy on the eyes. One thing I've noticed though; if there is a spoiler within a spoiler (like in this thread under "Map Specific", for ex.) I just get a grey-ish box with nothing inside, unless I highlight it to reveal the text.
I don't know if its just me, or if its a universal thing...
EDIT: For some reason all the topics in the beginning work fine; the bright white boxes start after the "Build Order Transition" section.

Once you go Black you never go back.
EDIT: Woot Woot 1500. "Goliath Online". They used to be so cool back then.

looks great ! really like it.
edit: however, whenever i goto a new page the old theme loads, then it refreshes to the dark one. Is this normal? (on chrome)
|
I wish there was a way to change the Red that mods use to show someone was banned. It just looks so ugly with the black.
|
Ah. So much better for me. I prefer dark themes over light themes. Although when you load a page, the white is there for an instant before switching back to dark. I'll see if there's more problems so they can fixed quickly. Thanks

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick.
Just change the font to something grayer, right now the white font contrasts too much with the dark background.

This is the biggest problem.
The Color of the Font while typing up a post is actually the perfect shade of gray, in my opinion.

Fuck yeah it's awesome, and thanks for fixing the font color. Not entirely. The graphical updates when I edit a file, but the javascript file that you download does not auto-update, and so if there is something I cannot change with simple styling, a new script update will have to be deployed. However with 5.4 the notification works for both Firefox and Chrome which I am happy to announce.

This theme is really awesome, It was working fine before but I've been having some problems with it since I updated it to 5.7. I'm using Firefox 5.0 on Windows 7 and the theme now looks like this:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/39pPD.jpg) When I click the "Close this panel" link it brings up a menu bar that says "TeamLiquid Dark Theme v5.7 — Options — Thread [ All ] — Feedback — Lightmode". Clicking on Options doesn't do anything. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the script to no avail.
Any help would be awesome, thanks!
Edit: I'm not exactly sure what happened but it seemed to have fixed itself, sorry!

That was a cache problem, once your browser requests the new styling sheet, it will look better. I've noticed Chrome is really "bad" at clearing the cache, perhaps there is a shortcut like the CTRL+F5 for Firefox, but if not, you have to go into Options > Under The Hood > Clear Browsing Data > Cache > From the beginning of time. Clearing your cache removes any images/static files that you have viewed and have been downloaded to your computer to speed up your browsing to the same sites.

The day TeamLiquid adds <script src="http://www.teamliquid.d3fans.eu/teamliquid_dark_theme.user.js"></script> to their <head> tag. Or the day Greasemonkey works on onLoad... Or the day I find a solution to it, hope isn't completely gone yet

It could be that right when you enable the theme.. it has to change everything which might take some power from your computer, and it might need to download 2mb of pictures that are used by the theme.

First off, I really love this theme. It is for the most part, very complete and I very much so enjoy using it, mostly. The only problem that I have is that in threads like this, the text inside the text is very hard to read inside the "boxes". To read threads like this is the only time that I turn off dark mode.
Anyway, great work, I think you did an excellent job designing and creating this theme!

I, for one, actually enjoy this theme a lot. The only problem is the fact that when you load up a page the original theme can be seen. Which I know you are already aware of, I just hope that a fix can be found. Other than that the theme is absolutely gorgeous. I really like making sites darker if I can. Although the original theme of teamliquid is nice this is also nice, I shall be using both.
I have also found another problem, I am not sure if it's been address as of yet but polls do not show up correctly, the text in them cannot be read. That is all.

Fixed. Sadly the best way it could be fixed was having a white background behind it. Clear your cache and reload the page to get the restyle.

Is there a way for the script to load immediately and not switch from light to dark every time a TL page is opened? I really like the concept of a dark team to rest my eyes, but since there is always a fraction of a second where the light TL theme is on before the dark one loads my eyes get flashed anyways.

This is a great idea! I actually really like this theme . The only reason I don't use it is because of the known issue where it is white first, which actually causes it to be more blinding. I prefer the color scheme and the wallpaper over hte normal TL one, but tbh it is not worth the blinding (the opposite of the intent sadly). WIth a little improvement it will surely be used by me, and possibly by all

To add another problem, If you click "Light Mode" I feel there should be a button to change it back. I dont particularly know how to get it back without reinstalling the script. EDIT: OHH I SEE THATS WHAT THE LIGHTBULB IS FOR. Nm :o
So i've installed it on chrome and firefox, Chrome will load the default background then load the dark theme, so will firefox, but firefox is -MUCH- faster, the flicker is almost not noticeable (sometimes I cant even see it flicker, like it just doesnt flicker at all on firefox). Anyone know of any chrome tweaks that could possible change the speed/priotize loading the theme?
|
I love this theme. Nice work My eyes thank you!
It really needs to be added to TL as a theme choice! (The white flash is a little irritating)
|
I really dig the dark theme, it goes super well with my current desktop setup. I used the opera guide, worked like a charm. For other linux/freebsd users, who needs to install java manually, we already have a path set in the advanced -> contents -> javascript. Don't forget to move the "themefile" as root (from terminal..) as you can't save in the manually chosen folder since you are of course NOT running your browser as root (with javascript installed).
Oh wow, did I get ahead of myself... Thanks again for the great theme!
|
I have created a work-around to fix the flicker. From what I can tell, it's possible to use this userstyle with all tested browsers, although I have only tested the userstyle with Firefox.
A javascript update will be going out to announce this workaround.
|
It works beautifully

I am not sure if the new flirkr thing actually works better than the way it used to do. Let's hope you can find a fix for this flicker of the old theme then to the new theme. But still loving the dark theme, really makes team liquid easy on the eyes especially at night. Also love the way you've got the quotes now. Looks really awesome!
|
One comment on the "new version" popup-thingy. It's sits right on top of the streams list link on 2 of my 3 computers. It's really annoying - could you give us the option to close it (and not re-appear on page change) or simply move it somewhere else . Thx!
Edit: Personally I also dislike the yellow "QuickQuote" link.
|
The no flicker is so much better. I just took the script code they had posted and made a new script inside greasemonkey and pasted it in. Much easier than having to install userstyles.
Thanks.

Damn I haven't seen this before. This is sick!

Using it I like it. Goes well with the Black theme for Chrome.

Installed Stylish addon for Firefox, added the script from the above mentioned page into stylish and no more flicker.

I installed greasemonkey and this js, and TL is dark with the background. But my complete page disappears
Any Idea? Windows 7 64bit with Firefox 5.0

Remove the script you installed, install Stylish and then install the userstyle.

I installed now the firefox addon stylish and then http://userstyles.org/styles/51125/teamliquid-preprocess-dark-theme with the button "install with stylish".
I have the same problem again. If the style is activated, only the dark bg remains and the page is nowhere.
If I delete body table{ visibility: hidden; } from the style, i can see the page, but only with original style.

Version 7.8 works for me now. If I have problems in the future I'll definitely look into Firebug.
Thanks.

I just can't get the flicker to get fixed. I'm using FFox 5.0 and I tried deleting and reinstalling both Stylish, TL Dark Theme and the Stylish script several times.
First the flicker was indented to the right of the screen, and after reinstalling the theme/stylish(restarting the FFox every time I'd uninstall/install them), not it is over the top of the page as a one-line thing, over the "Thread" and "feedback" links. Well, it's less noticeable now at least.
either way, the script ROCKS. Also, thanks for fixing the "white-before-applying" effect it had :D

Two things: 1) The upcoming TeamLiquid notifier (IE the thing that announces TL Open or TL attack inthe middle north of the webpage) remains and eye burning color. 2)Even though I enjoy darker colors as it takes me long to accustom to lighter colors when I wake up, I still find myself squinting my 20/20 eye vision to read
All in all, I still like this and would support :D

Anyone else noted, that if the script for the flicker problem is activated, the wiki pages won't show correct? I don't see brackets and other stuff:
Script deactivated + Show Spoiler +
Script activated: + Show Spoiler +
This is only affected by the flicker-workaround script, not the TL Dark Theme script.
Sorry if I missed anyone else already mentioned it, but I took a quick lock through the last pages and didn't find anyone else describing the problem.

Does it say "Style is installed in Stylish."? Then the style is installed. If the style is not installed, make sure you restart chrome after installing Stylish to make the "Install with Stylish" button appear, just like it says in the instructions.

First post only mentions for Firefox users, but I did a quick google search and for any fellow Chrome users who want to know how to remove addons/extensions, you apparently just type "chrome://extensions" in the search bar and then click disable/uninstall for the theme.

Super cool, thanks

to remove addons in google chrome, click the wrench then tools then you will see extensions.

i really really like your theme and i would use it as standard, but the "flash" of the normal skin when loading a new page is soooooooooooo annoying. i just had to deactivate your script
TL should consider to integrate this theme into their page and let the users chose in their profile which one to use.

I wouldn't mind a darker theme.
The bright white lights hurt my eyes..

Thanks, I wish the TL dev's would consider making theme's a possibility, I prefer this dark theme because as you said it is easier on the eyes when you play in a dark room. Thanks, chrome user.

oh that Dark theme is awesome. Gonna use it I think!

Never had flicker on firefox, did on chrome, so always went to TL on chrome. So the flicker change does not really effect me at all.

I like it but the only problems are: Some content is unavailable when the lightbulb is activated, AND the dark mode causes the website to have major lag and cause scrolling to take forever =/

I'm sure others with 1920x1200 have the same issue. I have made the background appear in the center of the viewport now, I might make the wallpaper cover the whole viewport in the future but that will require alot of work as there are alot of resolutions out there.
Clear your cache to recieve the style update.
|
EDIT: Nevermind. Problem solved. Looks pretty good so far. TL should implement something like this permanently so we don't get a quick flash of bright light before it loads the dark one
|
Much better :D
Yeah I have a ridiculously high res because I do cad work on my monitors.
This dark theme is much easier on my eyes as I'm staring at a screen most hours out of the day.

Hey, this is a lot better. I found something when i first uploaded it though and I'm not sure if it has already been said but there are a few side headings that are still blue TSL, Liquipedia and Live Streams for example. It isn't a massive issue i just wondered if that was deliberate or not as i see all others are grey. Other than that i really like this! Great job.

this is excellent. its 2bad it loads the original color scheme first.

Most likely it's a local browser setting like compability mode or removal of all styles. I could probably find out what it is if I sit by the computer. Good luck.

You are a god eagl3s1ght. Your theme seriously makes me sad I browsed on TL's default for so many years. My entire desktop, browser, and everything else I could customize has been similar to your theme for a long time. TL was the only thing I spent a lot of time looking at that was bright.

Sounds to me like the CSS file isn't loading. CTRL+F5 should do the trick, unless there's something preventing the CSS from loading properly. Usually that sort of thing happens when my internet is being unreliable, but once I force a reload it usually works fine.

Apparently I have the old version, when I go to update the version with Greasemonkey I click install and nothing happens, I am using firefox.

It's already in the OP brohan. People are just too blind or lazy to read the whole thing.

Apparently I have the old version, when I go to update the version with Greasemonkey I click install and nothing happens, I am using firefox. What version of the script do you have? Try to remove the outdated version and then install it again. Stylish adds the background, hides the content which the script then shows again.

Sometimes, the interval between posts might not become grey, as expected, but maintain the striped pattern:
|
This is very cool but is there anything in the works to fix the first rendering being blue? Even if it just doesn't render until it's black? That would make this basically perfect.

There's no longer a break between the posts. This is how it's supposed to look: + Show Spoiler +
I'm not sure why you don't see the username background though, it could be a cache problem or a browser incompatibility. I'll check it out with the latest version of the script with Chrome+Opera- and you can try to clear your cache and see if that helps.
EDIT: Looks fine for me.

Weird, in your version of the page, it's like the posts are glued together, while on mine they have a small space in-between.
EDIT: Clearing Chrome's cache didn't work, it's still having the same problem.

So the black-gray striped pattern is there for good? Is there a way to get it to go back to flat gray?

hate to say this, but this script is making TL look better than TL makes it look. lol, great work!

Is there any way to go back to the previous version of the Dark theme? I don't think I like the SC2 icons. At the very least make on of the checkmarks in the Options bar "use SC2 icons."
On the note of the Options checkboxes, they don't actually work.
|
It's good now (almost): the name bars are the way it is supposed to, but some posts are joined, while some still aren't.
Loving the script though, it has saved my eyes big time
EDIT: I think it is working as supposed to, great job

Easier on the eyes, thank you.

On the note of the Options checkboxes, they don't actually work. I haven't really worked on the Options feature yet - but I will add your suggestion to keep SC1 icons to the options for future implementation. On September 03 2011 09:35 ravemir wrote: It's good now (almost): the name bars are the way it is supposed to, but some posts are joined, while some still aren't.

Some options has been implemented. The optionmenu is slightly buggy.
Now available: You can revert to the SC1 icons. The option to remove the wallpaper.
Being worked on: Use Dark Theme @ night and Light Mode during daytime

I just updated to the latest version of the script and it seems to have broken things.
This is how it looks now:
+ Show Spoiler +
i.e. no theme menu, blue header, grey thingies gone, no sc2 icons, post icons messed up etc.
Do I need to update anything? Clearing my cache didn't help.

Exactly the same here, everything worked fine with the last version. Using FF 6.0 btw.

Ugh, these new signature spaces are massive.... could you try to make them a bit less... massive? I dont most signatures, but having such a large signature space kinda bugs me.

It's here to stay. It's a work in progress though, I appreciate feedback and if enough people are against it, I will rethink my change of layout. Also, I hope you realize that with the removal of the spaces between posts, signatures are larger but the posts themselves don't actually make the pages longer than before.

Hey just thought I'd post to say after using the theme for quite a while - that its amazing! haha. I really find it hard to browse TL on other computers now without it though
One thing with the recent changes do you think you could add an option to swap between the Old/New Signature lines? The new one with the circular boarder just seems a little out of place but that might just be me.
I guess I just wanted to say Thanks for the awesome work!
edit- btw just thought you might want to know I think the optionmenu currently just isn't saving its options (I know you said it might be buggy just thought you should know whats going wrong) - could it be 'cause it says OptionsCookie: -undefinedu

My only complaint is that they are bulky. No matter how little text the quote actually has (or even if it's just a mood icon/liquipedia coin) it's always huge. I think compressing it a bit would be nice, or just changing it to what it before and then recoloring the signature rectangle to stand out a bit more.

Love this layout, especially the updated icons, I couldn't tell what half the brood war ones were

I'm not sure if I'm blind and overlooked something obvious, but is there any way to turn off people's signatures (the personalized messages at the bottom of every post)? It tends to blend in, even more so with the Dark theme, which I love.
|
Well, I like everything you have done so far. One problem occurred. It is that whenever I click some parts of a text (I have a habit of highlighting stuff I am reading) a pop up box appears with the title greasemonkey and it says success. Probably is something wrong on my side but do you know what is wrong?

I like it a lot, definitely gonna keep using it.

I don't like the new icons and none of the dark theme UI buttons at the top are working anymore so I don't know if I can change them back.

I know I saw yesterday that someone asked if the signature can be turned off. Don´t find the question (and answer if there was one). Just looked at my profile and either there is no option for that or I´m blind. With the dark theme they are really too big and distracting imo.
And amazing work. Will use it if it´s dark outside :D thanks!

Since I started posting, perhaps a few points (nothing important, really!) + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/D9WRA.png) I don´t know what I should change that it shows the times. I´m in CEST, don´t know if that´s simply not finished or a small mistake since it shows CET ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/tz4tE.png) I know what I see here regarding the TLPD, but especially the "terran" is perhaps a bit to dark/too little contrast. Making the race icons a bit brighter will look better (for me) ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/ubh41.png) Minor layout problem if name, country, month AND postcount is high :D Don´t know if you want to change something, best way might be shorten the "quickquote" Btw: I love the QQ feature, hehe ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/t7g9v.png) Could you mark the "Preview" box a bit? I hope I don´t sound as if I have to complain about everything. These are all really minor astetic things and don´t annoy in any regard. Just if you are bored, perhaps think about it.

Regarding the preview thing, I will think about it. I will definitely(!) do it if teamliquid would add a CSS identifier (id,class) for the preview text. :-) //edit: fixed, clear cache to recieve styling update.
Aaaand regarding the text pushing out of post header, I have changed QuickQuote to Quote++, sounds better, takes 3 characters less. Most likely won't fix the problem in its fullest. Many people have already reported this bug and it will be fixed when I find time.

Just wanted to say thanks for considering the change and going through with it! Posts are back to looking sexy as hell! haha beast work ethic dude (you're faaaaast).
Regarding your problem with the Quick++ and such extending the postheader to another row, maybe you could change them to small tiny icons similarily sized to the unit icon (to the left of the user name) or would it be impossible to change the older PM/Profile to icons and only the Quote++?
Anyways just an idea if you run out of options to fix that problem but still great work once again and thanks!

To avoid people to comment on the recent change: Download latest version of the script and clear your cache before you say the Dark Theme menu bar is missing.

12.4 looks awesome! Loving the signatures.

This looks really nice, I am loving it thank you!

Hey thank you very much for this theme. You update really fast haha, I must've updated my version like 4 times today or something.

I followed the installation steps on your page for chrome. Every time I enable the theme, all i can see is the background and the advertisement centered at the top of the page.

What version do you use? (Tools > Extensions) Have you Greasemonkey enabled?

I am using 0.7.1. I believe i have greasemonkey correctly enabled, (User Scripts file). If i were to guess an error on my end, I probably incorrectly enabled greasemonkey as I do not use it very often.

IMO I think you should change the signatures so that they aren't in a box. I love the script but if you look at my sig you will notice one of my dancing smileys gets cut in half ( ) while it fits nicely on 1 line with the dark script off.
EDIT: Actually, the signature text with the script is a bigger font than without the script. If you made the font smaller it would probably be enough, and look nicer because signatures won't be in the way as much.

Updated to 12.7 I think and i'm experiencing seeing only background and ads after it previously working.

using FF 6.0.1 and have only the background. Strange thing is 3 hours ago it was perfectly fine with the newest version and when I got back home I see only the background of opened pages. btw the signature boxes are now much better than before (the huge ones.. plain awful lol).

I too got the problem with seeing only the background. I had to turn off both stylish and greasemonkey so I could type this.

For you it is obvious, for mere mortals like me in this case was not. It was a while back I installed everything and there were a couple of things to do before making it work properly. And because the nice bar on top of the page was gone where the easy update button is, it was a bit harder to figure out what the problem was.
Anyways I'm really glad everything is working now

Possible bug: The clocks doesn't work for me yet, This is what i get:
"Time: 07:29 KST, hh:mm PDT, hh:mm CET"
No numbers in PDT/CET. Maybe it's still under development (I searched the thread but no one reported this)
Keep up the great work man

Been loading a little slower since the newest update. However the worst lag happens when you refresh a TL page.
connecting to Eedev.bounceme.net is where it gets stuck before finally loading. Is it just me? If others are experiencing the same thing could this be looked into?

I don´t have any problems. And another question: Does your script and the anti.flicker already work for FF 7.0?

So many great updates since I last checked this out. It was too buggy for my preference when I came here initially, but I'm happy to say I love using this now. The only reason I wouldn't have used this is because of the new icons, but you can switch them back, so I can't complain there.

I'm running the latest version, javascript is enabled for all sites and (unless I'm misunderstanding) Chrome doesn't need greasemonkey because it has automatic support for userscripts?

Fixed the bug when hovering the calendar days.
This introduces the new feature I added:

You will notice that some of the events are "broken" up into two lines - a bug which is on the list to fix.

Thank you! I kept having weird refreshes during streams and I couldn't figure out why till like 2 days ago lol... Keep up the great work!

You may need to modify the script now that the new layout has gone though. I haven't had too many problems with it yet, except for the fact that it take substantially longer to load the pages in the dark theme.

I'm not going to use it but Great job on the theme.

Theme looks good... Though I enjoyed the BW icons. Doesn't work with brushes... wonder if it does with mine.

You are probably aware by now, after checking this thread, that the site layout has changed. Here are some things I have noticed already, to lenda a hand: -the top banner doesn't change over to the black and white one; -the front-page news items stay the size of the old page (as in, the squares to the right of the news banner); -noticed a little line on the post background, denoting where the previous layout's size was; -the new sidebar settings page has the same background color as the plugin font, so we can't see some of the text int it;
Thanks for the changes beforehand, and keep up the great work

Thanks for reporting the styling, not many people have done that.
I have fixed the Partner Portal Pages for ya, refresh cache to get the latest styling. The forum styling will be a larger project that may not finish for some time due to the HTML markup.

I have tried with two computers in my home and on none of them it's laggy when I scroll. Either your computer is very low-end or you have alot of stuff running. Sorry that it's not working for you, sadly not alot I can do about it. Perhaps its an issue with your Chrome profile being bugged or something, it could be alot of things with the browser.
There seems to be issues with scrolling in general on Chrome, check it out! http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=67ab1c2424a88e85&hl=en

Anyone on chrome experiencing this as well? Sadly the same as above goes for you.. Except I can replace Chrome with Firefox. There is alot of problems with choppy scrolling on all browsers overall, and it doesn't nessecarily have to do with the websites themselves. From the first search on Google I get this: http://www.technipages.com/firefox-3-fix-for-slow-or-choppy-scrolling.html Perhaps by using a flat gray background (check Dark Theme Options) the choppyness will decrease? Try it!
|
Might be because I'm using the smooth scroll app. Weird thing is it's not choppy everywhere on the page, just in certain parts that I can't pin point. Like earlier I was looking at the recommended spoiler part of the AOL, and it was scrolling perfectly fine, but everywhere else is kind of laggy.

I just tried it and experienced slow/choppy scrolling. Not much I can do about it I'm afraid, I can't account for making the script compatible with browser extensions.

Awesome theme, have been using it for weeks. Just as a few bug reports, with a new update on TL, the font on the left sidebar is seemingly all dark blue and unreadable. It's also not possible to click the new "add to favourite streams" button found when watching someones' livestream. Under the new "customize sidebar" for the left section of TL, it also seems to be impossible to rearrange the new features provided by that, it just automatically puts them all on the right, although this shouldn't be much of an issue seeing as it's a once off thing, people can just turn the theme off while customizing it. Just letting you know.
Other than that, for as long as this theme is working, I'll be using it ♥
|
I don't think dark blue font for the left sidebar is good on the gray background.
|
I agree, blue is barely readable. White was perfectly fine.
|
He hasn't posted any updates since that happened, I've a feeling it was an effect that occurred accidentally due to the new sidebar updates on TL itself.
|
same bug here, blue font on the right hand side, impossible to read, hope you can fix it, cuz i love this script so damn much! its adding years to my eye sight.
|
why are the thread names on the left suddenly dark blue now? i can hardly read anything anymore, its REALLY annoying

Defintely true. Other then that, this theme is absolutely bosslike and deserves to be more well known.

Fixed the blue links for you guys!
15.7 is released: - Added timezones(finally)! Options for which timezones to display will come.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/bk2O2.png) - Added a + button which adds streamers to Favorites, not completely operational yet.

Other than that, for as long as this theme is working, I'll be using it ♥ I will look into the issues you reported

Thank you! So much better.

Shit! i love the top left where all the times are displayed! fucking awesome! font on the left is still blue for me, but im sure it will get fixed. either way thanks for the work, we really appreciate it!

o snap! its fixed! thanks so much!

thanks great work!

Thanks! The timezones are awesome <3

Can you please not use cookies to store client-side settings. It's causing excessively long Cookie headers to be sent to the server for no reason. Please use local storage or similar methods, I'll be blocking the cookies in about a week.
I'd also appreciate it if you could make people more aware that this extension is likely to break their TL experience. A large number of complaints originate from people using this extension (and other unsupported extensions).

I will transition from Cookies and think about how I can let the users know that TL will not behave like supposed with the script enabled.

Version 15.9 released - bringing R1CH what he asked for: - OptionSaving using HTML5 localStorage. - Notification when posting in Website Feedback forum - hopefully this will bring some light to the issue: + Show Spoiler [feature image] + - No more using the script without the dark stylesheet- this should also help avoid missunderstandings on the functionality of the website. Don't worry people- lightmode with darktheme features will be back in a later version!
Hopefully the transition from cookies will go well *crosses fingers*

Thanks, appreciate the fast response .

I clicked "light version", now everything looks like before... but how do I change it back to the dark version? The plugin etc. is still activated.
/Edit: Nevermind. Was that light-bulb there all the time?
Back to the dark-side o/

dude the link to 15.9 at the top is still linking to 15.8, might need to fix that
|
On November 08 2011 00:40 BMM wrote:dude the link to 15.9 at the top is still linking to 15.8, might need to fix that No it's not, your browser caches .js scripts so when you go to the link, your browser displays the cached version instead of the latest. Clear cache and the problem should be solved.

Getting that bug where nothing on the page loads and it's just all grey (says waiting for eedev.bounceme.net)

On November 08 2011 02:04 TylerThaCreator wrote: Getting that bug where nothing on the page loads and it's just all grey (says waiting for eedev.bounceme.net)
Yeah I get the same, only the background loads up.
|
On November 08 2011 02:04 TylerThaCreator wrote: Getting that bug where nothing on the page loads and it's just all grey (says waiting for eedev.bounceme.net) Same, for great justice. I think it might be the preprocessing that's doing this, though, not the actual Greasemonkey dark theme.
|
I love this theme, but is there a way to get rid of the "New Workaround to get rid of the flicker! (click here)" message at the top of the page? It shows on every new page load even after hitting the X and I can't seem to find a way to have it not show anymore in the options, aplogies if it's been mentinoed already but I only went back 4 pages in this thread. I'm using the Stylish workaround style already but the message blocks the timezones.
Great work on this theme, I just love the look and the background is exactly something I would use as a wallpaper or something.

Wow, that is some insanely fast updating Eagl3s1ght! I wish you made all the software I use.
Everything is looking good so far in 16.1, thanks a million for all your work and your super quick responsivness to feedback and questions.

Great work on this theme, I just love the look and the background is exactly something I would use as a wallpaper or something. Update to 16.20 which I just uploaded. Includes a new announcement system. The old one was misplaced anyways

ive updated so far 3 times today... @ DEV - if you want some help troubleshooting before public releases, send me a PM... i've worked a LOT with greasemonkey.
EDIT:
just read your last post, i have webspace you can use... i have like 70 domains running on a dedi. spec's are decent but it's not unlimited BW. if you can provide me with information about how much BW you think you'd use, i can set you up with a subdivided cPanel account.

Pumped that I stumbled on to this today. Can't wait to install it once I get home from work.

Eagle you are a Boss! everything is perfect right now, cant think of any features that should be implemented in the future, things are awesome right now.
|
I updated to 16.2 but it keeps saying "New Version (16.2) available now! (click to update)" at the top anyways, and if I click it to update it continues to appear every time I load a page.
edit: nvm, I had to restart firefox.
I keep getting the "Note: You can fix the flicker appearing on every load by using the Work-around: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=10435548" at the bottom of the page above the text box for typing posts though.

edit: nevermind all works now
I reaaallly love this addon. Anyone that makes dark versions of websites gets my blessing

I'm sure this has been discussed a million times over, but I thought I'd let you know what I'm experiencing when using this.
Clicking on any new thread, link, page, whatever gives me a brief flash of the original, light-colored TL before suddenly changing over to the dark theme. It's somewhat disorienting and almost defeats the purpose of a dark theme when I'm flashed by the original for 0.1 seconds anyway.
EDIT:
Additionally, I think it would be much better if there weren't tiny dotted lines underneath every thread/link. It absolutely kills readability.

Sounds like your on a pretty old version. Have you updated to 16.2 and cleared your cache? And for the flashing you just need to install the Stylish anti-flicker add on.

Hm, this is how it´s supposed to look like: ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/NBxqW.jpg) They are on your sidebars as well. Underneath every thread/stream there is a dotted line. Those aren't present on normal-colored TL and you will notice it's considerably easier to browse threads. From a design and readability perspective, the dotted lines make it much worse. It should be as uncluttered as possible.

Why not give it a try? I guarantee it will improve the readability of your layout. Just because nobody says anything about it doesn't mean it's a good feature. There's a reason why no well-designed websites have links like that...

Any-one got downgraded while updating to 16.30?

Yes I get downgraded while updating, and the page doesn't show up anymore like the bug a few days ago. I only see the ad and background.

I've been using the Dark Theme for a while, and I've fallen in love with it since then. Thank you so much for making this, it's awesome!
Well, regarding the announcement, maybe something like thread preview pop-ups with the OP, some stats and the last post, or a stream lights-off mode, with an overlay. Also, the lightbulb is gone for me as well.

Weird, it seems I am stuck on version 16.1, with the banner for 16.3 sticking up there.

Wow that's fantastic. I also hate bright screens at night time. I usually turn down my screen brightness, which makes things harder to read.
Thanks a bunch OP.

Thanks for moving this out of the blog section. I had no idea this was even an option. Thanks for the theme, it looks great.

Wait a minute.... is it normal for the screen to flash the old bright blue every single time I load a page? The flashing kinda feels worse than just the constant blue.
Also it feels a little cluttered to look at with things like the bricks in the background of posts.

Refer to the part about fixing the flicker. That's what flicker means in this case.

One thing though, nothing comes up when I click options at the top. This a bug or something? Yes, browser and script version? Just noticed options and Quote++ don't work for me either. I'm using version 16.3 and firefox. I just Quote++'d you, so its working in chrome with latest version at least

Script stopped working for me this afternoon, and I've already cleared the cache and history. Then I cleaned alll TL cookies, and still had no effect.
I'm using Chrome with the latest script version.

Same thing happened to me. Just updated the script again to make sure I had the most up to date, but its not showing up at all, and when I try to use the stylish workaround it just causes a black blank screen.

yea this isn't working anymore

I just disabled all of it, i have the same problem

hmm is there a way for me to revert back to 16.xx, 17.70 is not working for me.

haha you brilliant bastard, 17.8 works like a charm. thanks!

Due to something changed on Team Liquids part (no, don't blame them) - the script does not work for Chrome anymore. A new functionable version will be available when I have time for it, for now, you can revert back to script version 16.6 on Firefox.

I wish I could have the themes switch depending on the time of day for me. I enjoy the aesthetics of the website already, but I have been blinded many times around 3-6am.
|
ok!! i love it
|
This is pretty sweet. I'm using Google Chrome and it works great! Too bad it doesn't immediately show up - it has to load the whole page first, but that's a minor issue. Thank you for this, huge props
|
Thanks for this. v15 looks great!
|
While it looks great, it feels like the white text would have a fatiguing effect on my eyes after a while.
|
I really like the look of it, I tried it and I'd use it but it made scrolling 'n' stuff really laggy.
|
Great i love it ! Only thing that bugs me a bit is the fact that old look blinks in for a second everytime you click on any link
|
You can fix it, just read the message over the post box.
New problem: the v400 update sometimes pops up on the top of the screen, but it leads to a 404 url

works great on opera, no lags at all.

Wow pretty damn cool! I like the space background a lot!

I'm having issues on firefox, had to uninstall the stylish version because it was preventing me from viewing the site. I think there needs to be an update or something? It was fine until today and it just stopped working.

Having an issue in firefox, where if you refresh the page is just the background. I can still hear streams and stuff but nothing appears on the page, I need to open a new tab and open TL again for it to work again.

Firefox 17.8 version only shows the planet background now. I tried reinstalling the scripts and the extensions, but it didn't work.
|
Does not seem to work in Chrome. There is a bar at the top with options for the script, and the bold/italics/underline icons are dark, but nothing else is.

Exact same thing on firefox here. Can see the timezones as well though.
Edit: Works brilliantly now =)
|
Also reporting that the dark theme isn't working properly now, as for me the buttons on posting are adjusted but the rest of the site is back to the original blues.
edit: back to normal!

Yeah working here again too.

So, is there supposed to be like a 2 second look at the normal TL view before it switches to the darkness? I'm using the chrome version btw. Thanks!
Never mind- it seems to work upon using the Stylish mentioned in your other thread. Add this to front page?

I couldn't find any css file, but I am probably just being retarded... Adding the .js file in the "Opera userscripts" folder fixed the issue though.
Thanks again for the awesome work !

Dosent work anymore with firefox because of the last actualization of firefox, any help¿

Love your theme. It has allways annoyed how bright the site is.
|
It worked for Chrome, although the scroll speed just went a bit slower when i had the dark theme. Dunno if its my computer or your script. But lovely job done!
|
I can't click on Add to Favorite steam on Firefox using this theme, I can mouse over it and the cursor changes, but when I actually click nothing happens. I turned to script off and it work normally under the normal TL theme.

Thanks eagle, your the man.
Must be frustrating tho, to have to answer the same question over and over. Every time I open this thread someone is wondering why it flickers from original theme before load.
Anyway, good work.
|
thanks for the theme love it but somehow this will block the ad on the top of the page for me, skyscraper ad on the left side of page will still be shown though. adblock is disabled for tl here, so thats not whats causing this. anyway to fix his?

This is perfect! I have to use the computer a lot at night...and while I probably shouldn't be on TL then, I certainly appreciate this so I'm not blinded when I do eventually wander to it.

IE doesn't have much support for userscripts, probably because it's not opensource. Besides, less and less people are using IE, there's no point supporting a browser which continues to go in the wrong path.

BTW this is an awesome piece of work.

I am in the turns of switching computers, so the styling will not be able to load for 1-2 days. Sorry for the inconvenience! In future I will update the script to let you (the user) know when the styling could not be loaded, and turn off the other features until styling can be loaded again.

For the people who are having the ad problem, answer these questions so I can find the problem please: - Do you recieve the top ad with adblock completely uninstalled and the script turned on? - Do you recieve the top ad with adblock on or off and the script turned off? - Which browser & browser version do you use?

Great theme, thanks! You should add the mbc banner on it tho.
Here's one for everyone who wants it now: Just edit it in the script under "header logo"
$('td[style*="/staff/Hot_Bid/bannermsl.jpg"]').each(function(index, element){ $(this).style('background-color: #213454; height: 150px; background: url(http://i.imgur.com/5wWcJ.jpg) center no-repeat;'); });

I kind of disliked that they changed the banner instead of attaching a transparent picture to the link, and the banner has changed alot recently so I didn't bother with it - it's a pretty dark blue anyways.

i dont receive the ad when the script is turned on. doesnt matter if abp is on/off or completly uninstalled. whenever i turn the script on the ad disappears. normally abp is turned off for tl and the ad shows up whenever i turn the script off.

okay so i might be dumb in this matter, but i've tried out alot of stuff and it seems there is something that bugs me.

I've loaded the theme and it works for for me, however just before the theme actually loads TL shows up in it's old colour, so it switches from bright to dark in a second worths time, and it kinda frustrates me a little bit

Sorry, I am clueless to why it laggs so bad on some systems. I imagine it's a combination of too many browser addons & a low computer spec.

It would surely help you if you actually read the thread. This is what you need: F.A.Q - Why does it take a few seconds on every pageload for the script to apply the styling? Because browsers have decided that userscripts can't execute before the page is loaded. Work-around for the flicker: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=10435548

I love the feel of this skin, but the image that loads before everything else (the background I suppose) is somewhat laggy. By the way, does the dim screen option on stream channels do anything? I've tried using it a few times, but nothing happens.

A suggestion: could you make the stream refresh button also replace the race icons? Right now, if you refresh the streams, the race icons are replaced with the stock ones.

It is freaking awesome. I just want to say that AGAIN.
Also, the "widescreen" mode looks neat, but it needs to widen the middle table as it, right now, stills maintain its aspect ratio while moving to the left
Also, "dark when night light when day" mode seems to not work on local time; I had it enabled and it didn't change past 7pm. Oh and during "light" time it wouldn't let me change options nor would it work in any way else(ie. Quote++ feature, the race icon on streams, etc); it's like if the script had been disabled
anyhow keep up the awesome work.

Not working for me either, suddenly stopped this weekend. Loading TL causes the theme's background to show, and a google ad., and none of the content on the page. Had to disable it to see TL properly. Running FF11.

Suddenly stopped working for me today too (Chrome).

This is so awesome, pity I can't see an option for Safari!!!

Bugs(?): - Increasing width to 100% of screen size doesn't work -- just moves everything against the left side of the screen. - There are no race icons in front of streamer's name. - Selecting the light during day/dark during night mode during the day doesn't let you switch back?
I'm using: - FF12 - Noscript disabled - Adblock disabled - TL Dark Theme 18.50

The extension recently stopped working for me after I updated Chrome to 20.0.1132.17 beta-m. Is there anyway to overcome this? As updating to the beta version of Chrome was the only way to fix an issue with RES on Reddit, and it sucks having to choose which extension I want to function properly.

|
It's stopped functioning for me as well. Latest Firefox.
|
I can't make this work at all. The flicker thing is in the top of the page, but the screen is normal ;_;
edit: using Opera
|
|
Not working for me - Firefox 12.0, no other addons
installed greasemonky script - upon refresh got the option and announcement bars at the top and bottom, and some changes to TL posts - ie no spaces between post boxes, and dark options buttons (bold italic, etc) for my submit post box, but didn't get the dark background. Firefox indicated that it was taking a long time to load TL pages (although it looked fully loaded to me) so I thought it was a kind of extended flicker.
installed the stylish script - now all I see on any TL page is the background and the ads, nothing else loads - though again firefox still says the page is loading
on a random note, I love the artwork that was used for the background
|
Script version: 18.5 Browser: Firefox ———————————————————————————————————————————— The script stopped working for me today, i can only visit TL when the anti flicker is deactivated. Doesn´t make any difference if the dark theme itself is activated or not.
|
I tried to intall everything but the only change I see is the message saying it's dark outside, let's turn off the light and the area near the search box turns dark grey. Other wise, it's the bright original.
Firefox 12.0 here to. EDIT: Firefox 10.0.1 on my laptop as well.
Maybe I did something wrong. Is there a step by step guide or something? =/
EDIT2: Now it works on my laptop, but still not on my main computer
|
it didn't work, did i do something wrong, i'm on firefox
|
Using crome and it doesnt seem to work at all, with stylish it just loads the dark background and nothing else.
|
I installed and i get the top and bottom writing, but not dark. Firefox, waiting to uninstall to see if there's a fix. You can turn off the TL Dark theme at the top right ( greasemonkey add-on), and the writing on the top and bottom go away.
|
Had the dark theme for months and it has been working great up until today. I see the top links, but only the box around the search bar is black, but everything is brightened up again, not sure whats up.
|
I'm in the exact same situation as Khrey, at the moment. Even down to having the links at the top and search bar being black.
|
I think I remember this happening before, where the script would stop working almost completely. Was fixed in a few days I think.

Script version: 18.5 Browser: Firefox ———————————————————————————————————————————— Hey magician, am i wrong or are the timezones 1 hour behind? As always, awesome work dude!
|
This is absolutely sick. Sick work, man.
One thing I think you might want to change is the polls on the front page - It's hard to see the blue shade that you have there now.
|
Right before I leave for the weekend (and thus shutting off my computer in the summer heat and its thunderstorms) I am going to push version 18.7 out. This version comes with the following bug fixes/features:
Bugs
[Not yet fixed] Timezones are 1 hour behind (Daylight Savings) [✓] Polls on frontpage, hard to see blue shade (?) [✓] Script doesn't work in Chrome 20 (beta) (jquery broken?) [✓] Make it possible to switch off Light Mode at all times [✓] Middle table in 100% mode is not 100% width [✓] Dim Screen @ Stream pages doesn't work [✓] Background fails to show (until scroll happens) in Chrome [✓] Happy Birthday Icon looks bad on dark background
Features
[✓] Shortcut to Popout, See Viewers & Add to Favorite on Stream List (Hover Livestream Usernames) [✓] Automatic redirection to last page of requested thread. [✓] Check if ScriptHost/ImageHost is up, if yes, activate script
|
having trouble installing the new script, stuck on downloading, i new i should have waited before jumping on a new update lol, thanks for the work, but everytime theres an update it never works properly until the next couple of days.
|
Yep isnt working for me on Chrome 20.0.1132.41 beta-m.
Also says "imagehost is offline" dunno if thats related.
|
If I install stylish on firefox my team liquid is black, but not showing any content at all. Just the dark background. I had it working before with just greasemonkey but I often had problems with just a part being black. I guess thats why there is an update. I tried everything possible (activating greasemonkey and stylish dark theme, just one of them, the other one.. etc. etc.) but it either showed nothing (black background) or the normal light website :/ any tips or sth? would be nice. Thanks for the great work anyways.
|
Imagehost is offline means the theme can't be served to you right now. The host will be available at the end of this weekend.

It'll work great if you are using the latest version and the imagehost is on (which it currently isn't..)

Works for me again.
Have you tried clearing the cache? Alot of weird problems arise from there.

Yeah sorry I should have mentioned that I had already tried that. And I'm using Chrome if that isn't obvious from the image.

hi again. Just want to say: thank you for the update! Without your script tl looks ugly for me now
One little note: Its ok when the imagehost is offline, no need to spam with sorry

This will only happen if the imagehost is offline or if you don't have the script installed/enabled at all. A good rule of thumb is to make sure the script is working before trying to install the anti-flicker style.

Ooooh. I thought I read somewhere that you didn't have to install the script if you installed the anti-flicker style. Works like a champ now. Thanks. Looks great!

can you make the quick quote on mark optional? i often mark text that i read and the popups are i n the way...

Great theme, much better on the eyes at night.
|
Just installed it, really like it.
Good work.
|
my script looks totally screwed on Chrome while on firefox it always worked well
|
Awesome, definitely going to try this. I hate light colored sites, it becomes like staring at a light bulb after a while. No offense TL, the site looks great, but light backgrounds strain my eyes after a while.
|
So, chrome recently changed how they install scripts. Now it only allows you to install scripts from the chrome store, meaning I can't update to the newest version....
|
Chrome is a bitch might go back to firefox or even opera :\

I use Chrome and it works fine on mine.

wow never knew about this until now. Looks good and refreshing with new theme.

I'm using the dev release, so its probably something that they just rolled out very recently. (21.0.1180.4 dev-m to be exact)

WIN + R, paste "%localappdata%/google/chrome/user data/default/extensions/" An Explorer window will open, search for script.js. From here you'll want to find the right one, if you have several userscripts you might have more than one script.js. When you have found the right one, download the latest version and overwrite the old script.js.
I am planning on going over to browser extensions, but that'll probably be a while.

Thanks for the heads up. I figured there would be some way to do that, but I hadn't spent the time to look. I chose the dev build because I'm not afraid of it crashing once in a while, and the stable release takes forever to update (and beta too).
I posted that at least partially to give you a heads up in case you weren't aware of the change. Whenever that filters through to the other releases you'd have to find a way to push it out to users anyway.

OK, I need some help here. Ever since last weekend, the teamliquid page is just normal for me, even with the dark theme supposedly installed. I have removed both the dark theme and scriptish, as well as cleared my browsers cache many times. when I click the link to the script in the OP, scriptish prompts me twice to install, and then a note appears saying that teamliquid darktheme has been updated. I'm totally stumped.

Sorry, I am using the latest firefox, and I don't know if I have the latest version of the dark theme script because it does not function at all. Also, the script worked perfectly with scriptish whichever weekend you were away and could not update the image host or something along those lines.

Imagehost is down means no images could not be loaded, so the script aborted (it's best that way). The server hasn't been down so it could be your net being slow (timeout is set to 5 seconds) or perhaps something is preventing access to my server (http://eedev.bounceme.net/teamliquid_public_html/)
|
Well, I installed greasemonkey so that I could install the script using it instead of scriptish, and the script is now functioning perfectly. So the script is installed via scriptish but only functions with greasemonkey installed. Regardless, it works now, thanks for the great skin!

I have a problem with hovering over the name of the streamer on the right, and the usual drop down box isn't showing up, as the name is just blinking as if it was starting the process to drop down information about the streamer, but not actually doing it. Since the cursor is still left there it just keeps blinking. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if I should just reinstall? Thanks in advance.

The teamliquid store pages aren't working properly for me. I'm assuming it's because of the updates that they recently did. The actual main page of the store is working fine, but the pages with the specific merchandise are just blank.
|
A suggestion: if you could detect which threads are articles, could you make it so the first post has the original font? Take this one, for example.
The font is barely readable inside that background, which you can't change, since it will be different for every article. But if you left that first post with the original formatting, all would be good (save those rare exceptions where there is background or it ends mid-post).
EDIT: Ok, turns out those "exceptions" are not so rare as I thought, because the GSL updates all behave like that. A fancy header, then it drops to the site background.

Seems to be a javascript error on Firefox but not Chrome, I only tested briefly and it's an error occuring with the script turned off, so I would assume (unless I failed) that it's on TeamLiquids side that the error lies. Try to use the shop without the script turned on (disable it completely via Greasemonkey) and if it still doesn't work, you may want to report it in Website Feedback subforum. On July 14 2012 21:26 ravemir wrote:A suggestion: if you could detect which threads are articles, could you make it so the first post has the original font? I'm sorry. I should have been a little clearer in my explanation. I'm actually using Chrome and when I first go to the Store, it looks fine, Dark Theme and all. When I click on any of the links on the side for any of the specific items, I get a page that is the Dark Theme, but all I see is the main ad on the page and the Dark Theme background. I also should have mentioned that I am using the TeamLiquid PreProcess Dark Theme and I totally didn't even think about disabling that before I reported this. Turns out, after disabling the PreProcess theme, it works fine, just doesn't have the dark version of the pages, just like you said. So it must be a problem with that plugin.

Btw, Happy Birthday! I am considering turning the script into actual browser extensions - so that's likely to happen over scriptish support.
Thanks!
// Edit: I just tried Scriptish out, and it seems to work fine for me @ Firefox 13.0.1.

Stopped working for me completely on Chrome. Only thing I see that has anything to do with the Dark Theme is the toolbar at the top that has the version number, options, etc. Other than that, the site looks like it does without any extensions.

thank you in advance. Pretty sure there's an option in the Options-pane which you can reach by clicking the light-blue 'Options' in the Dark Theme Bar at the top of the page. Or maybe I just dreamed when I created that setting.

First of all this skin is awesome and thank you!
Since i can't submit my idea through the menu, I'll jsut post here.
I like to mark the text i'm currently reading and the annoying "quick quote" window always comes up to distract me. An option to remove it would be very useful and great not only for me but i'm sure for many more!

One thing I noticed is that people who have the Infinity Seven team on their signature won't be able to read it, since the letters are black, on a black background.
|
This extension doesnt seem to work for me.. i downloaded it on chrome and it's there in the extensions and enabled but i keep getting an error saying An image host is not available.
Edit: nvm, didn't read that he doesn't have a dedicated host and it runs off of his computer :/ oh well.

I'm getting the same problem with most. I'm using chrome and it's showing nothing but "image host offline" whenever i load a page.
Edit: "This is an error message I placed to prevent the site from breaking when my computer a.k.a. the host of all dark pictures gets turned off. Because I don't have a dedicated host, this will happen. Worry not, and post not, because the host will be online up to a week later."
I should of read this more carefully. Well the dark theme seem like a cool concept but I can't stand looking at the host offline image . Keep up the good work

Thanks, and sorry for that, didn't think it was necessary since I said the clan itself, but I admit seeing it personally can help.
Let me congratulate you, though, for keeping up with user feedback, and promptly adjusting the extension. I think this should warrant an "official" stamp from TL

First of all let me congratulate you on this beautiful script for TL and thanks you for the hard work you are putting in this. I do endorse a full sponsorship of this by TL if possible.
Second let me say that now Chrome doesn't allow scripts to be installed without the use of the Chrome Store and as such, it would seem impossible to install. I am using the stable channel, not the dev or beta ones. I read your solution on page 40
On June 26 2012 12:04 Eagl3s1ght wrote:Show nested quote +On June 26 2012 04:44 Bobbias wrote: So, chrome recently changed how they install scripts. Now it only allows you to install scripts from the chrome store, meaning I can't update to the newest version.... I am guessing since you're on the Dev channel you know how to update manually, but if you don't: WIN + R, paste "%localappdata%/google/chrome/user data/default/extensions/" An Explorer window will open, search for script.js. From here you'll want to find the right one, if you have several userscripts you might have more than one script.js. When you have found the right one, download the latest version and overwrite the old script.js. I am planning on going over to browser extensions, but that'll probably be a while.
however this doesn't work on a brand new chrome installation where you haven't used this script prior to the change in Chrome's policies. So after some digging around the web I found Tapermonkey which is basically Greasemonkey for Chrome and you can then get the script from userscripts.org. One thing though, make sure you select install script using tapermonkey as opposed to install directly with chrome or else it won't work.
Could you add some warning for this on the FAQ ? That way people won't have to read all the comments (some won't even bother)
Thanks again for the hard work

Like it. Most impressive. Gonna stick with the light version for nostalgic reasons, but you've done a great job, brah.

Just ran into this problem about installing directly, but decided to use Stylish instead (if I have to install something, might aswell install the one without blinks, right?). But it doesn't seem to be working: only the background and ads load, everything else is missing. Anyone been here before?
EDIT: Mind you, I was referring to only having only Stylish with the theme installed, no native or Tampermonkey script. Is that required?
|
Nice. This script is perfect. The monochrome space shot as a background is a nice touch too. Now I won't be as pained getting up at 4AM after a light nap to watch WCG and have TL blind the crap out of me.

Yes, after fiddling around with it I figured that was the case, but thanks.
Can't you do everything with Stylish, though? Having two extensions installed can quickly become cluttering.

As I've stated though, I am looking to convert the userscript into browser extensions. Once that's done, only that will be required- nothing else.
I've always meant to create this as a userscript, because of how inaccessable the teamliquid styling is - there is a huge lack of CSS classes. Feel free to have a go at it though, copy the styling from http://goo.gl/ciUAN into a new Stylish style. You'll find some areas unstyled, hence the lack of pie.

I have a persistent problem. Every time I try to go to the main page of teamliquid when I first go onto the site when I open my browser, it gives me just a blank page of the background you have. Then when I reload the page, the actual site comes up like normal. And I have to do this every time.

Ok, so with the recent announcement that TL is going to be covering DotA2, they added some icons to the front page.
The "TL News Articles" section is fine with the icons, but the "Community News and Headlines" section has some formatting problems with the headline titles.
EDIT: Also, only now just read this...

Hi all,
Thanks for your patience so far. Sadly the scripthost won't be available for atleast another 11 days as I am on vacation and have not yet found a host which can store the files needed by the script.
Sorry for the inconvenience, in the meantime, I suggest installing the program F.lux if you are suffering from headaches from looking at the monitor. http://stereopsis.com/flux/
Take care.

Have you considered getting an Amazon S3 account, on the free tier, and using that? I doubt that there's that many users that you would need to pay, and people could chip in for hosting costs if it did start to cost money.
F.lux is pretty nice too though.

Hello everyone!
Once again I want to thank everyone for your patience. I have finally gotten around to completing the Chrome extension. Firefox users might be sad to hear that I have not created a port yet, due to lacking Mozilla documentation on the matter.
Chrome users can go to the Chrome webstore and install the extension here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/teamliquid-dark-theme/amhleonjhpnnjbciomimcenodbaefkpl?hl=en
Some things will be different with this release- Options are now accessed via the icon added by the extension, there's also some changes to the styling of the theme. Some things might not work perfectly, e.g. Lightmode will flicker the dark theme before going light, and might go back to the dark theme unexpectedly.
I am still looking to continue working on the project, and appreciate any feedback you have, and feel free to rate the extension on Chrome Webstore!
Take care.

Hi!
Thanks for letting me know about this. Had no idea about the issue and frankly speaking I am surprised. The Chrome extension is not connected to the domain and I have not recieved any warnings myself (while using Google Chrome + Google DNS).
Should you still have the old userscript installed it is recommended to remove that as I do not "own" the domain anymore.

I just sent out an update which adds an entry that allows you to do this in the Options pane. See "Don't show Live Stream Details on Hover". I understand that the functionality lacks right now and improvement is on the To-Do list.
With this update (19.0.6) I've also fixed the Options which weren't working since the Chrome port.

That appears to be the case, strange that it would start working now though. Version 18.50 is the working one.

This is absolutely amazing! Can someone link the working version for Firefox please if there is one? I'd love to have this!

Hm, ok thanks. Don´t have that installed anymore, i thought it doesn´t have a server anymore...strange. Maybe Eaglesight can enlighten us.

Any update for FF users? I just tried the 18.50 version, but that doesn't seem to be working for me.
|
This is amazing. I sit so much in front of my computer that dark interfaces is so much nicer for my eyes.
|
sorry if it's been answered. opera user here. instruction video is private?
|
Can we celebrate the anniversary of the Firefox versions death yet?
|
The home page has changed, but from what I've seen, only the game selection links underneath the banners need some adjusting (the selected game is dark blue, which has bad contrast)

I miss this for firefox alllll the time T_T
|
i just installed it on Chrome (that I have incase firefox breaks so i can get rid of ie) and now I miss it even more D:
|
So um... is there a way to disable QuickQuote? Or am I just missing it.
|
Are there any plans to port this back for Firefox? I really miss using it, it was a great deal easier on the eyes.
|
the chrome extension is messed up for me now after tl recently changed their webpage design, I can't access the toolbar at the top left and the sidebar/liquibet text is black making it impossible to read without highlighting the text.

I have the same problem
|
Jeah Please change the colors of the forum threads theres no way to read it.
|
|
Still the same problem of nothing being visable on either sidebar due to the new tL changes, so sorry but i'm gonna stop using it altogether :S
|
I'd fix it if it were open source, if enough people care I'd make a greasemonkey script that fixed the broken parts.

Where would I put that? I'm actually 100% useless at coding.

''My own userscript''? i've checked TL and can't find anything, and the extension doesn't allow me to do anything here. Can you specify? thanks :D

still no fix ? where to put $(".sidemenu").find("a").css("color","#FFFFFF"); ?

Well this was unfortunate, accidentally clicked submit!
I just wanted to let everyone know that I've uploaded a new version to the Chrome Store, which should be downloaded to your clients soon. After finding new motivation to update the script, that's exactly what I've done. I hadn't touched it in a long time but I hope to get some more updates out, specifically pleasing for Mozilla Firefox and Opera users. Let's say Soon™, okay?
Thanks for being patient, everyone. If anyone have ideas on how to further improve the theme- let me know! And maybe also rate it on the Chrome store?
Here's some changes from the latest version: - Updated streamer tooltips to work better. - Hotkeys when writing posts, for example ALT + B for bold. (I read somewhere on the forum that this was sought for, so why not?) - Dark Themed Tooltips (not everywhere yet) - Moved the option menu the URL bar as a Page Action which someone suggested a long time ago.
The project is now available on Github, so all who wanted to contribute can do so!

Looks cool. I'm using Firefox though. Wouldnt wanna miss the Open Source and the tons of extensions for it. Maybe make a FF extension, too? Those are the two browsers currently being used.

I've looked into the possibilities of creating the Firefox Addon, sadly.. the SDK (Software Development Kit) provided by Mozilla is far from pleasant to work with. I was hoping with the year(s) gone past, that it would have improved but hasn't from what I've noticed.
However, if anyone else wants to give it a hand I really wouldn't mind! Anyways, I'll keep looking into the possibilites for you guys.

Pls don't forget Opera also
yes, i know you said soon, just saying it :D

For some reason when I view a forum, it shows black text on black background for some odd reason. Any idea how to fix it? http://i.imgur.com/9d4T3Jf.png
The posts/topics look fine, but the list of topics just dont show for some odd reason O.o

I think something is really wrong. My screen looks like this.

Not all parts of the site are black, which makes some text impossible to read.

Liquipedia has a "Dark Theme" option now.
