should be 16+ or 17+ imo limiting the amout of people that can join by making it 18+

I think the age thing is probably for a certain maturity level and avoidance of parents. Its a huge commitment to play a game 9+ hours a day every day and expect to be doing so for 5 years. Its not like many people in UK are really taught discipline anymore.

tbh if i was doing this, i wouldnt want 16/17 year olds there too.
Im only 21 but i would just find people that young too immature and wouldnt be willing to help keep the place tidy, and wouldnt pull their weight in helping out with money and stuff and would probably find it very hard to stay focused

Thats completely subjective you think because you know a 16/17 year old who acts that way that they will all act like they don't want to pull their weight or stay focused, I'd say by your response and given that I'm 17 I'm probably more mature than you.

Arguing about who's more mature is pretty immature.

I understand where he is coming from though. He presumes that all 16+17 year olds are immature.

But you probably couldn't do it anyway legally ( i think )

I wasn't arguing who was more mature just the fact that he thought all 17 year olds are immature which is a ridiculous assumption.

Does anybody else see the irony in a bunch of 17 year olds arguing they're capable of making mature and responsible decisions so they can quit their education and play video games full time?

That isn't ironic and no one's arguing, its just short sighted to say all 17 year olds are immature and have a poor work ethic and I write this so that people try to look at it differently.

Every responsible 17 year old should be in some kind of education or vocational training, they've got a long life ahead of them and it's an investment that'll pay dividends.

I gathered your point, but I am just saying, stuff like "I'd say by your response and given that I'm 17 I'm probably more mature than you" takes away the credibility in the statement itself. So try to leave stuff out like that next time.

16+ is old enough to take care of you self and do your bit around the house. If they are not pulling their weight just tell them to leave. there so much young potential in sc2 i just feel making it 18+ is a bit to high.but thats just me

I think you need to be 18+ for the travel aspect. Most parents wouldn't want their 16 year old son (or daughter) travelling a distance to live in a flat with 'strangers'. Also, it just isn't right. Get some education, you don't see many professional gamers over the age of say 28. Unless you're talented right now and are a grand master level player its going to be a tough fight to make a career out of it without risking a lot (specifically time where education is easily available).

I think the age is right for numerous reasons. Anyway, I think that a better suggestion would be for you to lower the skill requirement (masters level). People in an environment such as this house will easily gain that skill level within say a month. (As long as they are not totally new to the game or bottom tier level).

Hopefully with the university enrollment out of the way more people will know what their going to do or what they aren't doing with their time and interest can spark. It's a great idea, just need to get it started somehow :D

The original plan hasn't gone ahead I believe (may be wrong), though there is SOMETHING happening. I'll try and poke someone into this thread

Wow, I got excited after reading the OP, but now it seems it hasn't worked out? I live in Plymouth and if there's a SC2 house I'd love to pay you a visit.

Well there is a house starting in Northern Ireland! Currently, we've moved over 3 people from Europe, and are moving another over this week (3 swedes, 1 mexican), and are working to set up a pro house.
