Why can't you guys just let the girls do their own thing without complaining every step of the way?
I believe you might be missing the joke. Or I am. But somebody has a disconnect. I, a male poster, am trying to incorporate levity and humor towards an awkward ratio of male:female internet forum posters.

It's all just calling attention to yourselves... who cares what gender you are on the internet/in a video game. It doesn't matter. or it could be that they want to know who else in the community shares the same characteristics (in this case, gender) with themselves, and just making a mini community/group to talk to each other/etc at least that's what I think this is but *shrug* When I look for friends online, I look for people who share the similar hobbies and methods of thinking (i.e. their personality connects with mine). To look for certain members of a community because they share the same gender seems a bit silly. There are far more tangible personal characteristics which can foster friendships and mini communities.
I like meeting people who live through similar things and yet have different personalities and perspectives to offer. Don't you?

I think this is awesome - i joined as soon as someone else in the group invited me! I don't have to pretend to be 'one of the boys', I don't have to listen to the people im in a game with go on about how i "play like a girl", or how they are going to r@pe me/objectify me in some other way... in general it's a much more pleasant gaming experience now... and it's nice to connect with other ladies who either enjoys gaming like me, is nerdy like me, and understands my nerd crush on day9 :s
not all guys are like that - it's a bit of a stereotype, but it's the "bnet experience!"

You do realize that's the actual full size Kerrigan statue, and not something they did, right?

Also, can I jsut say that saying you need to create a group for female gamers because you've been trolled at on battlenet is rediculous. Personally, I've been trolled at on battelnet for being a number of different things (e.g. military, American, religious), but, seeing as these are all things I chose to share about myself online (thats right, it is the internet, I can just not say anything), I really can not, and don't, complain. I most certainly don't create an only-American or only-military group, as that would just give people more of a reason to troll me.
Plus...trolls are the reason the powers that be invented the "ignore player" button.

The difference is that females are a small minority in the SC world, and males are a vast majority. Rather than EXclude males, they're trying to INclude themselves into a male-dominated community. I say, more power to them

This is basically it. I don't understand why there's always so much hate whenever something like this comes up. Yes, while technically the main SC community sites are open to everyone, they aren't always exactly welcoming to women. Groups like this will only help the community as a whole grow.
I joined last night - looking forward to getting some practice games in so I can finally get out of this league!

Well I'm a dude... But I did recommend a friend to you guys. HF

you guys should get over yourself. SC community would be better off if more women are part of it. And if things like this help achieve it, i don't see any problem with that.
