I'm not good in SC2 but my girlfriend knows that I play and watch SC2 tourneys. She's been telling me that she wants me to show the game to her and would want to watch games with me. I hope she'll like the game so that I can now have someone to talk to about SC2.

Although my boyfriend got me into the game it's nice to know there are other girls who play. Now we have our own chat groups and watch tourneys/day[9] together. It's a great never-ending point of discussion

I think this is awesome - i joined as soon as someone else in the group invited me! I don't have to pretend to be 'one of the boys', I don't have to listen to the people im in a game with go on about how i "play like a girl", or how they are going to r@pe me/objectify me in some other way... in general it's a much more pleasant gaming experience now... and it's nice to connect with other ladies who either enjoys gaming like me, is nerdy like me, and understands my nerd crush on day9 :s
not all guys are like that - it's a bit of a stereotype, but it's the "bnet experience!"
Also, can I jsut say that saying you need to create a group for female gamers because you've been trolled at on battlenet is rediculous. Personally, I've been trolled at on battelnet for being a number of different things (e.g. military, American, religious), but, seeing as these are all things I chose to share about myself online (thats right, it is the internet, I can just not say anything), I really can not, and don't, complain. I most certainly don't create an only-American or only-military group, as that would just give people more of a reason to troll me.
Plus...trolls are the reason the powers that be invented the "ignore player" button.

This is basically it. I don't understand why there's always so much hate whenever something like this comes up. Yes, while technically the main SC community sites are open to everyone, they aren't always exactly welcoming to women. Groups like this will only help the community as a whole grow.

I'm part of this group and actually really enjoying playing and being around these girls. Everyone is nice and friendly to each other, they help each other, and it's really just a positive experience to have.
If there are other groups that aren't full of trolling, then I am all ears to hear them because I am very open to playing with other people(regardless of gender).

Why do girls troll themselves so hard in "male" spaces? Girl's groups? Girl's leagues? Just play with "the boys" and make urself known by being a good gamer/GM. Remember, this is the internet, where being a girl/boy can easily be hidden behind a username.
I only see that group getting harassed by immature guys on facebook and in this thread as well. Remember, Tossgirl isn't popular just cuz she is a girl. She is popular cuz she is a top player who inspires other girls (i hope) to take e-sports seriously instead of waving their female symbol at the community.
I think its a good idea to just make a few "girl only" tournies etc at first so they can find each other and start practicing together and can feel more comfortable in a 98% boy community. But if they kept these events exclusive to girls it would be kinda fail seperating the community like that. And trolling would never cease, gl hf ladies, but prove you can roll with the big boys too.
I am happy to announce that we've really grown big and we get invites daily.. we have now 175 girls in this community where we share thoughts, play and support one another..
