Idra Banned for 90 Days - Page 87
Forum Index > TL Community |
Hello, all! It's become quite apparent that many of you are not reading the first post carefully. Failure to do so in the future will be met with swift punishment. And as always, remember to be civil. Thanks, Empyrean. Time stamp: 03:59 KST.

So actually yeah, we would have avoid those hundreds of messages ![]() Idra posted that cruncher was cheating (which isn't an ok thing to say, especially for a professional, when they don't even have any evidence... and don't argue about this there wasn't evidence - watch the replay). Idra, in the same post, called him a "waste of life" and to "not give him attention[lol, the irony]". And so he was banned for 2 days. Omg, 2 days, that's like forever. Anyone, and I do mean anyone would have been banned for that if they had a posting history as bad as idra's.

Idra does have the tendancey to flame chill (the combatex series comes to mind) I always rated TL highly, but this is just very low of liquid, not surprised after tylers arrogant show on SOTG tbh, liquid are always gonna be sour towards EG now (even though EG did NOTHING wrong) *awaits warn/ban hammer* This has nothing to do with EG. Jesus we all like to watch Idra play, and on shows like SotG he seems really cool, if a taaaad biased, but this does not mean that he is somehow exempt to the rules that apply to EVERYONE who posts on TL.net.

Listen, I've always been somewhat of a gamer and fascinated with the growth of the E-sports scene in west. TL has done an extremely commendable thing the last 10 years, and their standards of conduct have kept their forums a place that warrants admiration. But the community is evolving, and TL needs to consider whether it's going to evolve with them. Broodwar in the west never even approached the amount of popularity sc2 already enjoys. A lot of people complain about Idra's behavior as being unprofessional/childish, yet the guy retains an enormous following and seems to get more everyday. Why? Because in addition to being pretty good, he actively breaks this Arthurian paradigm of the eastern gamer TL and the old-guard community loves so much: the no-emotion, perfectly mannered/polite automaton. Then you have Idra. Some people have said things akin to- " well if this was the real world, Idra would never get away with the things he does!" Please. Go to a basketball game with Kevin Garnett. Read player interviews before NFL Sunday. Go to a hockey game. On this internet forum, a pro can't call someone a "waste of life" when legitimately provoked (too much hyperbole to even be brooked as an actual insult) but athletes in that sport can actively try and pummel someone's face in as an aside to the actual game? Remove fighting from hockey and see how much their viewership drops. TLDR. No man can have everything he wants the way he wants it. Decide on your philosophy now. Slightly improve upon the small box of viewership Broodwar enjoyed along with mimicking it's lofty ideals? Or recognize that players like Idra represent something a lot of people actually want to see, something that represents an avenue to achieve legitimacy in this hemisphere. Idra's fan club was at 500 (?) pages before it's lock? The next closest was what, 400+ pages behind? There's something there. Also, continuing to feature Idra's stream while still banning him for 90 days is an efficient way of undermining your credibility on this issue. You and others disagree with the behavior he embodies....but you still value the accompanying traffic and viewership he brings to this website. Hmm. Despite all of TL's posturing, it seems they still understand the golden rule of cultivating any mass medium: viewers are all that matters.

I agree that you can say ret played better in that series but you just cannot say hes better then him.. if that were the case, every series in every tournament would be 2-0 or 3-0 or or 4-0 youd never have the 'worse' player taking a game off the 'better' player

Well guess what people? Your all wrong. Your wrong because there is no "right" answer. Its a moral dilemma. The matter of the fact is Idra and chill have a little war, chill banes idra, idra takes it a step to far (in tl's eyes) and sicks his pests on chill. Stop trying to win an un-winnable argument.

Else how the hell would he have won?
