BATLL V was fun and about 30 people showed up. I think dinner worked out a lot better and it was more fun than ordering a party size dish. GSL viewing was also a lot of fun! Hope everyone can make BATLL VI, and make sure to invite everyone you know! If people come early I will probably be there and we can go to lunch and maybe play some customs or other fun games ^^. I will add a banner and facebook group by this weekend :D

Op is updated! Added a banner also. I know BATLL IV LAN is repetitive but it looked better imo If there's anyone who actually has photoshop experience and would like to make a banner, be sure to let me know!
Arlock, I usually PM people who are confirmed / tentative / have attended past BATLL events to notify them of events. However I will definitely get a mailing list started since it will probably be useful in the future. To anyone who's interested, just send me a PM with email address!
And ya I'm so bummed I couldn't make the GSL finals, it sounded like so much fun! I will make a facebook group tonight as well, and maybe a reddit post in the coming week or so (someone suggested that that was what got a lot of attention to BATLL IV)

By the way, just realized that the date MAY change! Does anyone have any other dates they would prefer? CSL would like a different date and I may have a conflict that will make me an hour or two late. Some others have expressed a want to change the date also

Yes, there's another big CSL event going on (although apparently it's open tournament! So anyone can join I think) and if so I will cancel BATLL VI since it wouldn't be a great idea to have them both on the same day. I think I will go to the CSL event though hehe. It's gonna be harder for them to switch dates since they've been planning this for a while and have organized plans for streams / HDStarcraft to come, etc. I think a possible reschedule date for BATLL could be March 12 though. Thoughts? I need to figure out when UC spring break is.
Theres an open CSL event?? Where at berkeley? I'd love to come play in that if possible even though I dont go to that school --; EDIT: You could always just change the date to the saturday before this one.

Ahaha well it's an open event and it's having some tourney and they have HD already going to cast it, so I think we should move it forward a week. I'm just looking to see if there are any conflicts atm.
Ok op updated for February 19, I don't think I have any personal conflicts and it seems like everyone thinks it's a good date. Hopefully nothing comes up!
Facebook event also updated. Seems the Facebook group helps a lot in getting attention to the event, might not post the event on reddit so we don't end up with too many people / not enough computers!

Hello, Bay area local here (Concord), very interested in going. Recently got really interested in the competitive Starcraft Scene, but my interest is much more in observing matches and learning as much as I can about the game.
Is recording the event allowed? Could I bring a camera, document the event, talk to some players. etc? I will pay for dinner and the entrance fee.
Im pretty sure the entrance fee is the price for using a computer for the day and I think the dinner price is just a suggestion/optional, so if u want to just show up and watch I'm sure u wouldn't have to pay anything. As for bringing a camera- I dunno but I would guess they wouldn't have a problem
I'll definitely try and make it then, though I do not think I will be able to show up until after 5 due to a class earlier that day. But then I can just jump on the bart and hopefully be there around 5:30.
you dont have to pay the fee if you dont plan on using a computer the whole day. you can buy hours accordingly to how much you want to play. the 16 dollars is for a day pass.

Last BART train from Berkeley to Pittsburg/Bay Point leaves at 12:08 AM.. This event's done at 12:00 AM. I might have to cut out a few minutes early unless we finish at like 11:45. ;D These things usually don't run later than that, do they?
this is not a byoc event, this is at an internet cafe. The 16 dollers is for a computer pass, so spectators do not need to pay, so if you want to play you either need to pay, or find somebody to share their comp with you.

I know this is really last minute of me, but I recently moved back to the Bay Area and I'm thinking about attending. The only problem is that I have a dentist's appointment at 10. I just need to know a few things about the event:
1.) Is it SC (which I haven't played in like 2 years lol) or SC2 (which I've never played lolx2)?
2.) Is the event going to start on time? I gather that events like these usually don't, but I could probably use whatever breaks I can get time wise.
Oh yeah, I can give people rides back from the event. I live in the Oakland/Alameda area.

Sorry not going. Had to run some errands and they cost me a pretty penny so I'm going to save my $$. Plus, I really don't feel like going outside now that I've gone back in.
Regarding the "Real" tournament: At 7pm, we had dinner at Round Table Pizza. After dinner, there were a few more tiebreakers to finish of the group rounds.

Basically, I screwed up and I should have walled off low ground with 3 raxes to block off natural and main after fast expand or rush for tech.
Looks like it was hecka fun, so sad I missed out. I'll post the results in the op! ^^ And dammit ritt/chris you guys showed up the day I'm not there!!! So pissed!!!
someone should set up a email list for these events. It would make a whole lot easier to spread the word and to send out updates of the event (like date changes)
