im not saying this site will crash and burn because of this, because it wont, so long as you guys maintain it and bw is popular, this site will remain intact. im simply saying, that if what i said is worthy of being banned, then this isn't a community i would want to associate myself with in the first place.

That's a good point, and alot of people probably censor what they really feel on topics because they're afraid they might get banned (well I do). Can't say everyone does cause that's a opinion i just can't back up.

Seriously, why the hell do you care at all? It seems you are just ranting over nothing because posting these rules will not change how I or any other mod will moderate the forums. Do you seriously want OVizioFrio's actively posting here? Do you want Iszard here? Do you want various other really mentally unstable people hanging around be being welcome here? Well, in case you said yes to the following, then I suggest you find a new forum because that isn't going to happen here period. We run the site and forums the way we want it to, and we want it to be a place that we like. We don't care if you feel the forums are "fake" or that our asses are caked with the siliva of other forumers, as long as it is still the way we want it. And you say you shudder to think how much asskissing there has been? What... a bit of recognition of the beautiful English mensrea wrote and approval of the rules from LONG TIME forumers isn't to be expected? Seriously, do you seriously want whining, moaning, spamming, flaming, and trolling in place of these, just because YOU BELIEVE they are "fake"? And the groups you've been around in real life is totally different and irrelevent when you are talking about an online setting. You should know by know that a lot of people act differently online, and they tend to feel invincible sitting behind their computers while mouthing off at other people. Having so few rules will only encourage this. Where's my evidence? Check out the majority of the forums out there with very few rules and very little moderation and a huge memberbase. Not exactly the best place to try to be "honest, personal, and not fake" is it? Can you imagine how hard it will be to be yourself and not be totally annoyed everytime you share your honest and personal feelings when you are surrounded by an army of idiots? And what you are saying is stretching the boundries of free speech? No, it really isn't because you can argue all you want about the rules written, but like I said earlier, we aren't chaging how we will actually moderate the site. I'll just assume you know how we do it, so why didn't you bitterly complain about it earlier? Is it because of the statement of "we give you your rights?" The thing comes down to this: if you really detest our "new" rules, hate how everything is moderated, despise the fact that everybody is "fake", and totally can't stand the fact you don't have total freedom of speech here, then you can leave. I'll leave the door open to you, because obviously this isn't the community you'd want to be associated with. But if my point came across clear and you do decide to stay, you're also welcome: just don't make something out of nothing and be totally annoying about it.

tl.net is far, far larger. moderating in the same fashion that forum is moderated with would quite simply not work.

i will rant because i believe its a right i've been born with (not given to me by whatever the superior authorities are), if i dont have this right, ban me, as i've said. This is from the start a private forum, and they let us guests participate. So it is not a "right you've been born with". And this is not a goverment or a freedom of speach country, it's a forum. With rules. Think of the admins like police, they arrest you because you are being a jackass and annoying the rest of the members/themselfs. I really don't care what rules they bring up since they are all logical... I don't really need to read all of them to know what I'm not suppossed to do. NOW I'm gonna go do homework! ^^

They aren't out to censor speech. Nor did i get that impression from the rules. And the only person i have ever feared a ban from is rekrul. But thats onyl when i feel the need to call him a fucking faggot. But he said hi to me last night on bnet. He loves me. Im safe ~

It seems to me like people are pretty freaking free to disagree with posts and to post their honest opinions on matters (just look through a few threads to find about a million examples). The main requirement seems to be that they phrase their views as views and not as attacks and that they are mature about having an open debate instead of degenerating into some peeing contest.

Teamliquid.net is a pretty unique place. Nowhere else on the web will you get deepgoing info in english about BW progaming. Everyone that is here share the same interest and should work proudly together (sorry I'm sounding so gay but I mean it) and feel as though there's some sort of unity between the members. Instead, every other thread erupts in a flame war, most likely due to ego clashes. There is really no excuse for this - treat others the way you want to be treated. Actually better yet.. treat others as you do in real life. You would NEVER tell someone irl "you're an idiot cause you think Iron maiden are better than Metallica, so stfu". No one is like that, so don't act like it here, or any other place online. But the site should - and this wasn't highlighted as far as I could see - also treat its members with the same respect they want from us. This puts random Rekrul bans in another light. While others may go "LOL rek ur funny!11" everytime he goes trigger happy, I'm sure many many others think it's unprofessional and not worthy behavior for a site like teamliquid. So what if he's the best player around here - all the more reason to set a better example. I've seen him ban people for ridiculous reasons numerous times, and I've only come to the conclusion that he does it for fun. But my oh my, it looks really bad and unprofessional. That is my only bellyache as far as tl.net goes.
