Both in balancing teams, but also adding in some sort of accomplishment for playing games. I feel like the community is pretty good about not flaming so worst case, if things get bad, you could just turn it back to neutral right? I think the problem is that some people don't really want everyone to be playing just to win, and that part of the fun of TLIH is the wacky drafts that are sometimes employed. I personally agree with you and I think the flaming could be moderated, but I see the other side as well. e/ also looks like everyone through this post is vouched.

I've logged out of IXDL and logged back in and then I entered the exact same password into the IXDL client and I'm still getting the error. I checked the forums but I couldn't find anything. There has been an update of the client a couple days ago. You should check that ![]()

I think if enough people want a more competitive league with in house rankings, a separate group could be made to fill that need. It is a better solution that to ad in the ranking system for everyone and then try to moderate the less socially inclined try hards.

I don't think splitting things up would work, it would be really hard to get games going on either league, games are not exactly frequent as it is.

Which means the demand might not be high enough for a ranking system. Really, as hard as it is to get games going, features that may drive people away will not make finding those games any easier.

People not playing because of unbalanced teams is also a legitimate concern.

A ranking system won't fix that problem instantly and they will need to play a lot of games. Mostly its is on the players to not be jerks and not let the teams become stacked and to admit "Hey, I might be a ringer on this team, you may want to move me."

I will discuss this with the other TLIH staff but any input is welcome.

Well to me the "balanced" teams = better games never made any sense. Sure it makes it more likely, but this is still Dota. A team that can create an advantage early on has a good shot of snowballing out of control. Especially with skill differences between individual players and where those people like to play. I mean I hate to say it, but there is a reason that you and chopper either win hard or lose badly. Its not your fault but when your mid game impact player falls behind and your supports are usually newer its difficult to catch back up.

Its not your fault but when your mid game impact player falls behind and your supports are usually newer its difficult to catch back up. I think the problem is that one team is super stacked and the other team is getting rolled super hard. It would be like me taking on Firebolt one on one in mid every game. Maybe after 20 games I would get better, but that's 20 hours later. That isn't what people are looking for. In retrospect that's a bit silly given that it has nothing to assess us by. We need to come up with an alternative. Aside from the obvious solution of implementing ratings, other previously mentioned options include the admins manually assigning a fixed rating to everyone based on their own personal assessment of their skill (which would allow the client to balance teams normally without the pressure of winning or losing points, but will require a lot of work from the staff), or using valve's ingame shuffle, which we all have had our own experiences with. I will discuss this with the other TLIH staff but any input is welcome. I think assigned ratings are a good way to start, even if it is a broad ratings like "New", "Seasoned" "Veteran" and "Expert" to give people a base line for teams. Right now, we are working off of nothing, which does not help anyone.
