Yo,

My logitech g9x died and it seems like it has gone out of production and is rare because the prices on a new one is super ridiculous. In the 200 dollar range. Therefore I am looking for a replacement, and the DELL Alienware TactX Gaming Mouse apparently is a rebranded g9x so I want to get that.

The only thing is I am not able to find confirmation that the polling rate is 1000hz. I cannot live without 1000hz and I don't want to mess around with my USB-ports manually. Does anyone own this mouse and know if it's 1000hz?

I've seen Corsair M45 being recommended as a G9x replacement. It's same price or slightly cheaper than that Dell mouse where I am. If you like how its shape looks like, be careful with the numbers: the name saying "M45" instead of M40 or M65 is important.

The TactX is actually cheaper than the M45 here. That thread did link to a post over at overclock.net that did show that the g9x and the TactX have the same sensor, the TactX is even listen under the Logitech section, so I guess it's safe to assume the TactX is 1000hz also.

that's a bad thing, considering g9x sensor is weakest point of the mouse

any reason you need 1000hz and is 500 not good enough? or do you just want >125hz (500ms is up to 2ms latency from reporting, 1000hz is 1ms and you will probably have a 30ms latency anyway, so most users don't need 1000 unless they have a niche case like a strobe backlight monitor)

Seems like that one might work as a g9x replacement, if you really want to just get another g9x instead of moving on

I've been playing with 1000hz for like 15 years, I used to "hack" the usb-ports to 1000hz on the old msie 3.0. It feels like a huge difference for me going down to 500hz. I bought the G100s and it just felt horrible and jittery at 500hz. I couldn't stand it

I don't know how much you have to worry about that. I think mice being able to do 1000 Hz is normal and the G100s not being stable at 1000 Hz is what's unusual.

Yea, mice should operate normally at 500 or 1000hz and otherwise is just a quirk of specific mice. Many are stable at 1000hz, others use 500hz but there's no real downside outside of some niche situations that most people will not notice

I got my g9x off ebay the other day. They're going for about 50-70 usd shipped.

I want to try a corsair m65 eventually just to try it, but I'm extremely happy with my g9x.
