What is the best price/performance cpu to get if you don't plan on overclocking for playing sc2? I noticed HDR is an option in the menu for SC2 graphics options. Will the new HDR monitors take full advantage of this option? Do you need an HDR capable monitor to benefit from this option? | ||

How much of an improvement for SC2 do you get from overclocking with a 6600k for sc2 vs standard boost? I think around +30% including putting RAM up to ~3200mhz What is the best price/performance cpu to get if you don't plan on overclocking for playing sc2? Probably the $64 Pentium G4560 (2c4t 3.5ghz Kaby Lake) but it's not neccesarily a good all around buy. I noticed HDR is an option in the menu for SC2 graphics options. AFAIK that's just software stuff that helps with rendering but isn't set up to take advantage of HDR monitors | ||

Will upgrade from a 24" benq to most likely an ultrawide 34" or a 27". What I was ideally looking for was: 34 inch 3440 x 1440 resolution G Sync 144Hz refresh rate Below 5ms response time And well... A monitor like this doesn't exist LOL. Closest I can get is 100Hz refresh rate. That or lower resolution to 2560 or go with 27". My question is: Is 100Hz good enough? Acer Predator X34 and Asus PG348Q are the choices here. I might get lucky and Acer might drop the Predator X34P with 120Hz come Xmas. Or get a 27" or 35" and sacrifice resolution for 144Hz here? Also my choices are IPS panel based. Are VA and TN any better? Not only for gaming but general everyday use. Maybe a monitor like I described will come out in 2018... | ||

Maybe a monitor like I described will come out in 2018... 16 by 9 144hz IMO 21 by 9 has some good uses but a lot of questionable support in games and if it means giving up refresh rate too then meh TN is generally considered to be a downgrade relative to IPS but it's faster, cheaper and not too bad if the screen is the right way up and directly in front of you | ||

HDD and RAM tests are all coming back fine. So the bootloops must be related to something a little more important. Some days I need to turn my pc on 3 or 4 times before its stable for a few hours. This is making me think about CPU/Mobo/RAM I was hoping to get an i7 at some point but really can't afford that right now or in the near future. So I am thinking of the 7600K Is it at all possible to use my existing DDR3 ram with the cpu? Or do all the Kalby Lakes and motherboards require I use new DDR4 RAM? Any ideas on most cost efficient way to get a decent mobo to OC with the cpu? I have currently a hyperevo212 that works great, replaced a bad fan a year ago. I have a full size case as well. I remember it was suggested on here and its quite large. Don't need SLI either. I really just want a solid motherboard that will let me push a stable overclock. Alternate option: Put the money aside and wait for my pc to really screw the pooch and based on what I've been able to save upgrade then.  This thread is great, and I always enjoy the advice. | ||

The computer still runs games etc. Its just frustrating that sometimes it wont boot and my 16gb ram is now 12  So if an upgrade is worth it for 1080p gaming and the odd video making ill do it. But if its not quite that big a benefit or if saving for longer gets me a bigger benefit then im ok w those options too. If its worth just spending 200 on a new z77 board thats also an option. Tbh im not sure. I stream sometimes on twitch but i run it through my laptop at 720p at 3k bitrate 30fps through cap card So dont need nuts overhead for twitch encoding while playing. Have a 1070 use a 144hz 1080 monitor as well btw No ssd because ive been putting money into other hardware upgrades. | ||

7600k/7700k are nice but a bit overpriced atm and rumors point to the replacement (14nm++ 6-core?) droping next quarter | ||
