You can buy a new one, then reuse the fan from the old one to have push/pull configuration for a bit better cooling performance. About the thermal paste question, sorry never did that so don't know. You can follow Cyro advice above. Or just wipe clean, since you get a new tube of thermal compound when buying new cooler anyway | ||

I am about to build my computer for the first time and am in dire need of advice. What is your budget? $900-1000 but there might be a little room if needed  What is your monitor's native resolution? No monitor yet but thinking about a 23,6" (1920 x 1080) until i can get a second. What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? Most of the esport titles and blizzard games, also some AAA but on low if needed just wanna play the games smooth, high settings is only a luxury. What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? Watching movies, streams, email, internet. Nothing other then games basicly. Do you intend to overclock? No Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? No Do you need an operating system? Well i will be running windows on it. But my brother will fix that for me. Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? Yes a monitor is part of my budget and am currently thinking about a $100 23,6" (1920 x 1080) with 60hz as stated above. If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. No What country will you be buying your parts in? Sweden If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. No So far this is what ive found as parts, but its a little much i think. And also it might be some realy stupid combos of parts or just bad ideas, so feel free to call out the crazy. Case: Fractal design define r4 black CPU: Intel core i5 4670k 3,4ghz GPU: ASUS STRIX-GTX960-DC2OC-4GD5 SSD: Samsung 840 pro 256GB basic Memory: Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600mhz Motherboard: Asrock H97 Pro 4 PSU: Corsair CX 600w I belive this is in the $900 range. power usage for a 960 + stock CPU system is also around 150w under a gaming load, under 200w at full. You can happily buy a decent 450w PSU and be able to swap in a meaty GPU in the future. As for screen, is 120hz needed? Depends what you mean by needed, at this budget i would personally take one 100% SSD: Samsung 840 pro 256GB basic I think the pro and basic are two different SSD's. You should avoid all of the 840's aside from the 840 pro. The 850 series (evo and pro) are good too. | ||

I would go with this instead, or something similar. I don't think I forgot anything, add a dvdplayer if you need one. Thank you for the tips! For me this is a massive jungle and so hard to know where and what to look for, what is last and current gen etc. Would you say a 60hz screen would be a disservice to the rest of the stuff? Sort of like watching hd on a fat tv? The 8709kr firkraag8 suggest + a monitor with 144hz (have not been able to find monitors with 120, guess they go from 75 to 144) would probably end up around 11000kr or about $100 above what i hoped would be enough. But if it is worth it ill absolutely consider it. Dont wanna be stupid cheap. Just some small questions: Dvd players etc is just plug and play basicly, right? Add in whenever. This one is realy stupid i guess, but motherboards has all the sound and network stuff right? HDD is no problem to add i guess? Are there any extra stuff needed like cabels etc? Fans on the case and on the parts should be enough? Since no overclocking. Sorry for stupid questions but im such a noob at this and I dont wanna miss anything abvious. | ||

DVD players and HDD isn't hard to install no, and you can do it later without having to put the computer apart or anything. All cables you need are included with the motherboard & PSU so no need to get extras. The 200r case includes both front and back fans and should be enough. If you want to add extras later on that's super easy. | ||

Yeah With a 960 you can't play many graphically demanding games at high settings and high framerates at the same time, but when settings are turned down, an easier game is running or even during desktop work etc it's a big deal. Much higher performance ceilingI don't know of that model, the benq xl2411z is often cheap in europe now | ||

One is a SATA data connection to the motherboard. The other is the SATA Power connection to the PSU.
