Perhaps rather buy this cooler: "Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2" http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/Arctic-Cooling-Freezer-7-Pro-Rev--2-Tower-Kuehler_624936.html There might be a different one that's even cheaper and still quiet. The one you chose is definitely overkill. This one was for example originally sold without fan for passive use: "Thermalright HR-02 Macho Rev. A" http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/Thermalright-HR-02-Macho-Rev-A--BW--Tower-Kuehler_809693.html It's strong enough to keep your CPU cool just by the air being moved by the case fans (the cooler you want to buy is by the way probably not better despite its higher price). EDIT: + Show Spoiler + Here's a previous version of that Matterhorn being tested: http://www.hardwareluxx.de/index.php/artikel/hardware/kuehlung/22523-test-alpenfoehn-matterhorn-pure.html?start=4 The following page in that review has a graph showing what happens in "semi-passive" use without fan on the cooler. It gets crushed by the HR-02, more than 20 C difference. The newer version you are looking at might have fixed some problems it had, but it still can't possibly be worth 50 € if the HR-02 is only 36 € at mindfactory.de. Especially if you want quiet, HR-02 would seriously work without its fan so can't be beat. ![]() The silence argument for the expensive cooler is probably a bit beside the point because you'll always hear the graphics card over the CPU cooler even if you buy that small and cheap Arctic cooler.

I put in my current ssd that was working but when I boot up mobo 2-digit goes to 99, then the "windows is starting" shows for maybe a second then it flashes a blue screen then restarts to "windows could not boot up" screen. How should I start to fix the problem? What board did you use in your old PC? A possibility might be, you go into the BIOS and search for the protocol used for the SATA ports. Switch it over from default "AHCI" to "IDE" (or "Legacy"). See if the Windows on the old SSD boots afterwards. If yes, google for "windows 7 ahci ide registry" and see how to get it to boot without reinstallation, do the registry change mentioned, then restart and switch the BIOS back to "AHCI".

I think this is the right fix for Windows 7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976 You can either click that button somewhere in the middle of the page in IE, or read what to manually change in the registry. You then take a trip through the BIOS while restarting to switch that over to AHCI.

Just keep in mind to switch to AHCI before you install your new Windows on the new SSD.

The benchmarks I've seen were of older versions of the controllers. About the current version of the controllers, I've only seen some dude mention that they are still not great.

The one you chose is definitely overkill. Just a word of caution, I had that cooler (fan) die on me after about a month of use! Fortunately I wasn't doing anything too intensive and had a temperature warning or it could have ended really bad. (I am currently using the heatsink with another fan combo in my htpc so losing my receipt wasn't a full waste.)

Have a friend who worked at a retailer in the refund department and he told me that ASRock is using all the crap that ASUS does not want to build anymore and puts it on their boards, resulting in the boards getting returned more then every other mobo-manufacturers product. They are cheap though.
