I just checked, both my DVI-I ports are dual-link (with 24 pins each). Guess then I don't have any problems and can just order the monitors.

Many of the older cards have a 1x dual-link DVI-I and 1x single-link DVI-I.

Will we get Rosewill PSUs? :D ?! I've always like Newegg for some reason, even though I've never used their services before.

Or at least the capstone?

But in general, given newegg.ca prices, I wouldn't get too excited. Once you factor in VAT, I don't see them being cheaper than the bigger UK and German etailers and maybe some others. edit: Rosewill also uses ATNG for power supplies, which I don't recall seeing under their own brand anywhere... I think. (okay, also Solytech on the really cheapo, bad stuff that is mostly EOL and plain sucks anyway)

I'm not really looking at specific parts yet, but mainly just wondering if an upgrade would give me a significant increase in performance. Is it worth keeping some of these parts, upgrading only for example the GPU? Are they so outdated that I would be better of just buying a whole new system? + Show Spoiler [Extra information] + What is your current build? Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.80GHz 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 5850 8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 What is your monitor's native resolution? 1680x1050 x 2 Why do you want to upgrade? What do you want to achieve with the upgrade? I can't really run modern games at high settings anymore, I'd like to be able to do that again. I would also really like to get an SSD. A specific example of a game I'd be playing would be BF4. I also use my PC to run relatively time consuming Mathematica code every now and then. What is your budget? 1000-1500 Euros What country will you be buying your parts in? The Netherlands

Something like a R9 280X or GTX 770 would nearly triple your GPU performance.

An i7-4770k at stock would run great with certain things with a higher end GPU, but not everything See what I did there? Such blanket statements are bad when the subject matter can be replaced indefinitely. I can put any CPU ever made in place of the one you used and it's still valid. I probably should have added that he should overclock his CPU though.

It's not exactly a 3x increase of performance cpu to cpu, but there is a very real performance gap from clocking, stock vs stock, ~26% higher with like 30% better IPC that could be relevant to somebody buying into a pretty high end graphics card that does not want to be held back. It's not like there were no advances in CPU performance from midrange 3 and a half years ago

I think it would probably indeed be best to just upgrade the GPU and see how things work out from there. If you want to play BF4, it might not be a bad idea to get an AMD card, which has Mantle which greatly reduces the load on CPU. If you still can't play the game to your satisfaction then maybe consider a CPU upgrade.

I just think that lines like this can be more dangerous than performance elitism~ All you need is a GPU upgrade

Also, the budget can readily support a new GPU, SSD, CPU, and motherboard.

Reading back a few pages I saw something about waiting for next generation of nvidia GPU hardware (maxwell?), and I was wondering if you all think it's worth waiting for those (assuming the wait won't be more than 1-2 months).

20nm flagship probably not 1-2 months. We might have one of the other 28nm maxwell dies by then though
