For the PSU connection into the motherboard, i got the 24 pin alright, but for the 8 pin connector from the power supply, (splits into two 4 pin connectors labled CP and U1) theres only one 4pin slot on my motherboard. (in the pic) + Show Spoiler +
which pin do i use for it? (my "quick installation" guide for the mobo just says to "insert pins" w/o saying which one

thank you, for curiosity, what happens if i put in U1? and whats the difference between U1 and CP? also, why would a Motherboard need both?
|
Most, if not all overclocking boards use an 8pin connector.
Each of them have 2 12v and 2 ground so I'm pretty sure they're interchangeable.

using this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130731
I cant find where the usb 3.0 cable from my case go to the motherboard.
also does this motherboard have HD audio?
honest to god, this motherboards, quick installation guide is useless ...... and it doesnt even come with a users manual .....
EDIT: case is a corsair carbide 200r in case it matters. EDIT2: also where does the usb 2.0 go into?
|
No USB3 on that motherboard. USB2 goes into the connector labeled USB.
|
hmmmm, i dont think this case has a usb 2.0.
so im going to guess here.
Im thinking that i cant use any of the front panel usb ports, and if i want to use the only usb port this case has, (which is 3.0) i have to get a usb 3.0 to usb 2.0 to connect the case's usb 3.0 to the mobo's 2.0 correct?
but i can still use all of the usb (both 3.0 and 2.0) thats on the I/O shield part right?
but still confused on where the pin that says hd audio go into on my mobo
|
Yes, that's correct.
HD Audio would go into the JAUD1 at the bottom left of your motherboard.

DAMMIT!! i knew it, but the guy in the video said something about it going into something called the FPaudio
|
Manufacturers label differently.

for my CPU, the videos says to clean the top part, (where the fan goes onto) with some rubbuing alcohol, or a paper tower.
but i didnt do either. is this step important? should i go and take the fan off and clean the CPU?

No. If it had thermal paste on it, yea, or if you rubbed fingerprints all over it (don't touch the underside of cpu or the top of heatspreader) then maybe but not end of the world

On a side note: I've came to the conclusion that 9-blade fans are far superior to 7-blade fans.
And that I'm pretty much done being a gamer and thus sell my tower and get a laptop or something. Sad part is I made my tower all pretty inside about 3 weeks ago and I still haven't posted it on craigslist. Why would you finish being a gamer? q_q I don't know about him but for me, games nowadays suck... Only game I play right now is Hearthstone and even that fucking sucks.
Mainstream games perhaps. I don't have fun playing SC2 all that much anymore, LoL and Dota2 to me are meh.
However I'm havingn an absolute blast playing old games with very small communities. Age of Empires 3 is a shadow of its former self in terms of numbers of active players, yet it's still quite possible to get a game going relatively quickly if you know the other players. It's an amazing game as well. I think you can get it on Steam for like 20 bucks, not sure. It also looks nice.
Other game I'm liking at the moment is Il-2 Cliffs of Dover. Similarly, it's not a big game however it's got a very active community behind it working hard on fan-made updates to make the game better. It's actually a pretty fucking decent game, though you have to be a flight sim junkie.

I think i got everything done
the only thing i dont know what to do is with the front fan thats on my case for the real fan, i plugged it into the mobo part where it says "sys fan" but for the front fan i dont know where to put that into.
also, what do i do with my molex cable?
EDIT: sorry, ignore my question about the fan, found a "sys fan2" port.
question still applies to the molex cable that came with my PSU, i dunno where that goes/what it does
|
Your motherboard has two sys_fan headers. You plug the fans into them.
What molex cable? Not all connectors from the power supply need to be used.
|
hmmm i think im done with the connecting and everything.
is there a way to be sure? or is turning it on the only way? EDIT: if i am done with the actual PC part, i think im going to do the peripheral parts tomorrow. is it okay to just have my case opened overnight?

If you have four legged creatures or two legged creatures (children) then it could be problematic.
|
yeah as long as you don't have a cat or something that will knock things over. ^^
