Edit: unblocked CPU fan (why the fuck didn't the mobo detect this?) and it's down to 1.054v on auto.

I already made the mistake of "express install" all the drivers, then had to go rip out Google Drive, Google Toolbar, and Norton Internet Security. Savant, I put this together this morning - starting about 8am, I had all the hardware in place by about 13:30, and the hardest part I had was figuring out the standoff placements (duh; they go in the holes labeled "A") and manhandling the PSU into alignment for the thumbscrews. Probably could've done it faster, except I messed up my heat sink mount twice (mounted in wrong orientation, caught it before I put the sink on the mounting bracket) and I tried to make sure the cabling looked vaguely pretty on the back side.

Pretty much impossible to bin from stock, unless it's really really terrible (i've seen some people reporting 1.2v at load for stock.. but that seems unthinkable unless it's set up wrong with adaptive voltage etc) Want me to talk you through stuff? For the guy with the SSD; seriously. Plug in the sata cable and leave it hanging in case if you want to. It's no big deal, for airflow/security reasons etc you can just duct tape it to basically anything but it's not important unless you make it important

My parts are arriving 1 at a time, is there a checklist of some sort to check for fail parts before I wait to assemble the whole desktop and potentially miss the return date?

You just have to put it there before you have the motherboard installed; there's a picture in the manual that shows the two SSD mounting spots there. (That's also where the cable management gets done, behind the motherboard.) I'll probably be writing a blog with pictures about building, because I'm just loving this system even though I'm only just to the "updating windows" part.

Also did you just move the top fan to the open space on bottom of the front fan..or back fan to front and top to back. I looked at fans and I dont see this flow difference u mentioned

Why bother moving fans around unless you want positive pressure rather than the default negative pressure. And if you're rearranging, just take top to front or back to front, they're all the same. No point in wasting effort in moving back to front and top to back -.-

That plugging the SSD into a computer first thing in the instructions is for "data migration" purposes. I didn't have to, because I have a normal HDD that carries all my documents etc. I wasn't moving any data over. I got a lot of information for the actual Win install from this post on overclock.net. On the fan casings, there's a very subtle set of arrows. I looked for it after I saw it on the Noctua heat sink fan. Turns out they are also on the case fans. A little tough to see; although on the case fans, easier way is to tell you that the side with the sticker is the direction the fan is pushing air.

A good friend of mine has gotten some stuff for free, but he is missing some items. He asked me to help him, but I'm a noob too. ![]() Here we go. Items he got 4 phree: Mainboard: ASUS M4A77T/USB3 GFX: GeiL value plus 2 x 2 GB DDR3-1333 CL 7 7 7 24 RAM: GTS250 "Deep green" Gainward 1024 MB GDDR3 Items I have already found to complete his system: CPU: AMD FX-6300 6x 3.50GHz AM3+ --> 95,27 EUR by www.mindfactory.de (cheapest AM3+) PSU: 450 Watt Super Flower Golden Green PRO Non-Modular 80+ Gold --> 65,84 by www.mindfactory.de (cheapest 80+ Gold) Not sure about CPU fan. Either he will use the old one or I will recommend him Scythe Mugen 4 Tower (35,83). Optical drives (no blue-ray), noname case (no cable management -.-) and some crappy 200 GB HDD (I loled :D) will be the old ones. But I will try to convince him to buy at least Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA III (48,13 EUR) and to through away 200Gb nonsense. All-in-all about 250 EUR to spend. What do you think, guys? Should I add something? Upgrade or downgrade?

On mobile now so cant really go back and. find name I don't really follow the conversation. You and Disregard (the person that mentioned it) both seem a bit confused. You mention moving a fan to the front and I assume Disregard assumes that you were going to mount the fan in as an exhaust (or that he thinks fans are either exhaust or intake), in which case it would be pointless because the air would just be stuck at the front of the case since you have a fan sucking in air and then a fan next to it sucking air out.... The reason why you want to move a fan from the back to the front is to change the air pressure within the case for cooling performance, dust prevention, or whatever.

Even on lowest, even Campagne. ![]() My thoughts: he should be investing some more money in what he has to buy. Like PSU or Case or HDD. PSU - even maybe 500 Watt be quiet! System Power 7 Bulk Non-Modular 80+ Silver. Case - something like Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl. HDD - like Barracuda + SSD EVO. But... he wants to keep it as cheap as possible. I already told him, that it will be more expensive in the future as soon as he decides to upgrade his system again. Alas...
