Are there any kinds of scene transitions / fading options? Like for Desrow's stream or any of the EG players. When they alt+tab it fades nicely to the appropriate scene n stuff.

I have the SC2 scene switcher plugin, but can't get OBS to fade during transitions (unless i'm blind and not seeing how to do it).

OBS fades by default. If you have a webcam or other slow device that isn't a global source, it could freeze and skip the fading. Make sure any devices are added as global sources.

Great! figured it out! Thanks for that!

Now another question for you R1CH, does window capture reset every time you restart OBS? I'm using that EzKey virtual keyboard program and for some reason I have to manually select the subregion of the window every time I open OBS. OBS remember the location of where I want to put the keyboard, but it doesn't actually show the keyboard.

Screen res? 1920x1080?

Start with 2x downscale (probably 960x540 or less), ~24fps, 400-500 video bitrate

You probably aren't really going to be able to stream at any kind of decent quality with that CPU and upload unfortunately.

Is there away of streaming Brood War with OBS in full screen?

But it keeps crashing for me with an error complaining about some hardware/driver issues or something to do with opencl.

Bit of an encoder question, but how do i prevent weird colors etc from happening after motion?

Example:

Same video, crf 14 max bitrate 100mbit, the colors just go like that for a few seconds (until a new keyframe?) after motion etc sometimes

Since it seems specific to some settings in x264 and some of the settings that change with preset, i'd like to know if it's possible or how to improve this happening all the time and then snapping back to correct colors while using the Veryfast preset (maybe Faster), though in the end it's probably not a big deal now that NVENC can be used, and actually streaming at like 3-4mbit bitrate wouldn't be impacted too badly by this i think

I have a question for putting the current song playing from Grooveshark or Pandora on my stream overlay. I googled certain things like untamed.exe and other 3rd party apps that I can download, but I did not find any I can use on FireFox. Would anyone know of any ?

Hey, how do i actually use NVENC for livestreaming? Can i? I just got an order of magnitude increase in upload but i can't actually get twitch to show my stream live with OBS+NVENC

so you're showing live on OBS but not on twitch? the dashboard doesn't update to show your status a lot - did you try going to your channel and waiting a minute or two for the enormous buffer?

I tried it for like 5-10 minutes and hit on/off a few times, then it went back to working almost instantly again when i went back to x264 - no indication of any problem from OBS or from the log

stayed offline for me and several other people

Got a fix w/ Antoine - High quality low latency and default presets on nvenc preset did not work, nor did high performance when i tried it - the bluray preset works fine though. Any ideas why? The others work fine offline, but if i use them for stream then twitch just hangs at "offline" or jumps between "offline" and connecting video

So what is the best way for me to increase quality, without straining CPU any more.
I'm using a 2 pc-setup, with an Avermedia Live gamer HD as my capture card. The CPU is a core i5 760. I'm planning to overclock it, but i'd like to see what other options I have as well. I want a high quality 720p/30fps stream.Currently, I can run the medium preset at about 2000 bit rate. Upload speed will not be an issue, i'm moving shortly to a house that has silly fast uploads, so i'm trying to prepare for then. Currently it seems to me like i'm not quite getting 30fps because there are small stutters in the video sometimes, even though OBS reports a constant 30

So what is best, upping bit-rate, changing my encoder preset (Which way as well?) Some other option? I have my eye on some new hardware in the future, but I think this is a good lesson for me regardless, so i'd like to try and optimise my stream for the hardware I have currently.

Define "increase quality"?

If you're only looking to eliminate stutters (make it as smooth as possible) I'd start with tracking where the stutter is first occurring. + Show Spoiler +

Rewatch your VOD a few times to make sure it's not a loading issue. If you still see stutter, try capturing the same content but save to hard drive and see how that video looks. If you're still getting stutter in the saved video try just eyeballing to see if you see stuttering on pc2 (the capture pc) or pc1 (running your game/program).

Once you know where your stuttering is happening it's easier to figure out what to do to eliminate it.

Also, make sure to provide components for both computers if it looks like a performance issue in either one.
