I am currently getting "what appears to be" screen tearing (or video artifacts in general) in "some" flash videos (also it's more prominent in higher resolution; if I use lower resolution to play videos, there isn't that much artifacts). Outside of videos with screen tearing or artifacts, other videos would simply lag or stutte. I tried disabling/enabling hardware acceleration (in flash) and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
[Edit - I tried using just my integrated GPU (from my intel CPU;intel HD 4000), and the video artifacts are still present. (I set the bios to use the iGPU, then disconnected my video cable from my GPU, then plugged it to the motherboard but the problem still persists). So, oddly enough, it doesn't seem to be related to my graphic cards. Anyone have any ideas? (Also again, I tried using different or older drivers, old versions of flash player, and firefox and chome, the problem is still there.)]
The other day my computer froze for a bit (like 5 seconds) after a few attempts to watching flash videos. I right clicked on my video card in device manager (I was trying to figure out and instructions from EVGA site said to check for conflicting PCI bus slots with the audio driver) and BSOD occurred. (Also I disabled one of the Audio drivers which had the same PCI bus as the video card.)

Also there was an instance (today) where my video card was no longer transmitting any signal (my monitor shut down due to lack of video signal) and the computer froze (I pressed the num pad key to check if it froze or not and since the light didn't light up, it seemed to have froze).

Using Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit).
Using latest flash player version (11,4,402,265) with Firefox 14.0.1. Also I tried checking with google chrome and the problem is there too (so it's not browser specific). I tried using an older flash version and the problem was there too. I tried rolling back the driver to an older one and the problem was there too.
Anyone have any ideas on why flash videos are lagging + occasionally screen tearing?
(Also if I pause the video, I can see the screen tear. Is that normally possible for "screen tearing"?)
New computer with a fresh install of Windows 7.
Besides that though, I can play both Diablo III and SC2 fine (tried watching some of the cinematics in D3 and they all played fine).
So the two issues are: 1. Flash videos are laggy and some videos have what appears to be screen tearing (I can see it while paused). 2. Yesterday had a BSOD after attempting to watch flash video. Today had computer freeze on me (video signal was lost at the same time).
(Not sure if the two are related.)
(Again, despite the above, SC2 [even 4v4s with comps massing units] and Diablo III all play fine on max settings. Though I haven't really played that much, I'll try to play some more to see if any problems occur.)
Anyone have any ideas?
Edit 2 - I just noticed screen tearing or screen fuzziness (the screen kind of looks like an oil spilling at times) only occurs on some videos (most noticeably at 1080p while not full screen). When full screen, it's less noticeable but still there.
One examples are NASL Videos - Nearly all of the videos have this problem. However the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic (for example) doesn't have this problem (even at 1080p while not full screen), though it the video does lag sometimes.
So, some videos have this problem more than others. Anyone know what type of formats youtube allows to be watched from? Maybe if I can find out which type of videos have this problem more, then the problem can be figured out a bit better.
Had the same problem as you, getting BSOD after few seconds when playing youtube videos or viewing twitch streams and no problem while playing WoT or SC2 (tho disabling hardware acceleration helped - for flash videos). After some time the video card died for good. Try to disable autorestart on system failure and write down exactly the error msg. Probably it will be caused by a nvidia driver component. Now, if you have access to another nvidia video card , try using it and see if you get the same errors, if not, there you go, hope your gtx560 still have warranty
Thanks for the help and reply . Hmm, my intel has integrated graphics. Is there any way to switch between those two? Would it work to download drivers for intel, disable the gtx driver (would it then be possible to for the computer to use intel's cpu graphics instead then?), and test to see if flash problems still persist?
yep, go into UEFI bios -> Advanced mode -> System agent configuration -> Graphics configuration -> Primary display - set it to IGPU , reboot, plug the display in either the vga/dvi/displayport/hdmi port on the rear panel of the motherboard.
Thanks for the reply . I tried that and switched to Intel graphics (and disabled GTX drivers) and noticed that the problem is still present >.<.
Flash videos lag in general, and some have screen tearing or other weird video artifacts.
Also I noticed that (just today) SC2 and Diablo III occasionally lags. Despite the frame rate saying 60+, it seems to have some weird video lag. Also yesterday, cinematics played fine but now occasionally lag.
I say occasionally because I downloaded OC Precision X, turned on frame rate monitoring and set it to display on screen (while in game when I noticed lag before), then the game seems to magically become not laggy anymore. (Though I haven't tested much, just noticed that.)
Same with the cinematics too (though it does occasionally lag a bit still).
I think I might try switching to use my old computer's hard drive to test if it's software related issue or not (though I think I'll need to install a bunch of drivers for my old hard drive though which may not help if it ends up being a driver issue)..
Edit - Some more questions:
1. If I switched my bios to use integrated graphics and switch my cable to the motherboard's slot, the video card (even if it was defective) shouldn't affect anything right? Or do I need to remove my video card (even if I have it set to integrated graphics) to test if it's the video card or not that may affect things?
Speaking of that, same with drivers (would I need to uninstall it instead of simply disabling them? I'll definitely do it again sometime later to check if drivers are causing the issue.)
2. Could it be an issue related to the video cable? I'll definitely try changing the cable.
My old computer (which was running fine and playing videos fine and even playing games fine) used the same cable + monitor only just 1 day before, so I don't think it's related to my monitor or cable.
3. Also I searched on google (search video artifacts in flash) and noticed someone said that higher resolution videos with artifacts are usually a sign of a failing video card.
I forgot to mention that I only notice major screen tearing and major video artifacts when using 1080p (on lower resolutions, it is there but much less noticeable).
(Also this is for flash videos only.)
Regardless of resolution though, the video has lag.
4. Could it be possible that intel graphic drivers are the problem? In device manager, the driver doesn't show up at all unless I set bios to use integrated graphics ( is the driver disabled completely or is it still functioning but hidden)?
Before you start looking for things to replace, try disable hardware acceleration in flash. Right click on it when its running and it should be one of the options. untick it and restart.

I tried that, didn't help sadly. Also I tried it in chrome and firefox and video problems still present.
Also again, D3 and SC2 have had video lag (started today). Though it is inconsistent (see my last post for details).

1. No, it shouldn't. But you can always remove the nvidia card and test. 2. No. 3/4. Did you installed 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500 driver after enabling the integrated graphics ? (you won't see the integrated graphics in device manager because it doesn't exists from windows pov, unless you enable it in bios)
Anyway, way way to weird Still having problems even when using the igpu. Makes me think the problem might be elsewhere.

Yeah, that's a disappointing development (if it was the video card, it'd be easy to replace but now here's to the guessing game with what's wrong with my computer >.<). Also just recently I crashed from D3. Was playing the game, then it froze (the sound kept looping over and over). No BIOS though and I was able to start task manager and end D3 process before any problems occurred.
You think it's related to the video card?
Worse case scenario, the problem could be the motherboard?
3/4. Did you installed 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500 driver after enabling the integrated graphics ? (you won't see the integrated graphics in device manager because it doesn't exists from windows pov, unless you enable it in bios)
Forgot to answer this from my previous post. Yep, I did (from Windows update.... speaking of that... Reminder to self - Never install drivers from windows update unless I know what they are for and if I really need it >.<.).
How do I uninstall it? I don't see it program files or under windows update. I do see the history in windows update history. I'll try seeing if intel has uninstall file or something and check to see if it helps.
Besides that, I ran EVGA OC Scanner X (latest version) for an hour.
No problems found (no artifacts).
If it wasn't the graphics cards (again, I used the intel HD as an alternative to test if it was, and the problem still persists) and if it doesn't seem to be software related (I tried different drivers and different versions of flash, also tried different browsers too + this is a fresh install of Windows 7 too), anyone have any ideas what else could be causing this?
Again, it's not just flash videos either. Sometimes, in game videos (cinematics for D3 for example) stutter and lag too).
Could it be the motherboard?
I will definitely try removing my video card and testing to see if the problem is still present (not sure if keeping the video card affects anything or not).
Oddly though, I wonder why Diablo III crashed yesterday (it froze and the sound kept repeating; the computer didn't freeze, so I was able to end the process using task bar) + the other two times my computer apparently froze (one was a BSOD and one the computer was still running but no video signal was being displayed).
So anyone know of any things to suspect if the video card doesn't seem to the issue?
(Also again, I'll try uninstalling Intel's HD drivers and see if they are the problem.)
Well I tried uninstalling Intel's drivers and nothing changed .
So, if it's not the graphic card or integrated graphics, anyone have any ideas on what may be causing these problems?
Again, I tried disabling hardware acceleration. I tried using different browsers. I tried using older versions of Flash Player. I tried using older drivers for my GPU.
The video artifacts is more prominent at higher resolution. Besides video artifacts, other videos are laggy or stutter.
Games have been playing fine again (so far) though at least.
