xl2411z. The other options are very similar (not much else other than vg248qe)

benq has better strobe options with v2 firmware (read up on www.blurbusters.com for strobing and all things 120/144hz), asus has a bit better overdrive implementation, not very much notable between them

After a quick scan, the xl2411z is reduced to £222 with free shipping on amazon.co.uk - that's a pretty ridiculous price, i was expecting to to be 270, maybe 250 if lucky. Grab it quick!

I'd say an ordinary IPS (PLS, AHVA) or VA. The latter if you want much better black levels and no off-angle "IPS glow" on dark content at the expense of slightly more motion blur and a little worse general off-angle viewing performance.

Aside from the options in the OP and similar models just different in size, look for recent Samsung PLS monitors or Asus models using IPS panels (these will advertise 178/178 viewing angles) and recent VA monitors sold by BenQ (these will advertise 3000:1 or 5000:1 static contrast ratio).

Most of these options are $200-250 range or less normally, even without sales.

Cool, i'll check for stuff like that. Thanks.

So, I have a Dell U2412M that I purchased a while back and my second monitor (old HP shitty thing) has been broken forever and I doubt I'll get around to fixing it. Looking to pick up a second monitor and I'm pretty happy with the U2412M. Amazon has it for $245, but since I've been out of the market for monitors for a couple years, is there something better at a similar or lower price I should consider? Is 245 a good price for the U2412M these days?

I actually cancelled the order as i found out that i could get the 27 inch one. I wanted to ask you about it, it's the BenQ XL2720Z is it worth it if i can afford it?

don't bigger 1080p monitors have less pixel density? that might actually be not as great

Even if it cost the same instead of 1.5x more, it's the same resolution, which means it's ~81.5ppi instead of ~92ppi. The backlighting seems to be good, it's only a bit (like 10-15%) dimmer than the 24", while for many other 27" strobe capable monitors, they lose a huge portion of brightness and it makes them worse for strobing. That's usually a big red flag that seems fine there

there's just not much reason to take it; if it was the same price then maybe. I'm not sure if all of the strobe adjustments etc and other monitor stats are as good, just because almost nobody uses those monitors and they're rarely talked about (everyone buys 24")

It seems like an ok option if you want to buy, but it's priced as if the 24" was still £260-270. It's not, so the price gap is way too big. It's not a straight upgrade either, it's just an alternate option

There are some advantages, i think that 27" model is the bigger version of the ~xl2420z which is an alternative to xl2411z and has some other options/things, like maybe low brightness without relying on pwm dimming. I'm not sure exactly on the details there, but i still think it's a big no at that pricing

One of the cool features of the models that are higher priced than the xl2411z is the pad that allows you to change profiles in the fly (in example you need to change several settings to play shitty games like dayz cause they're stuck on 60hz and flicker with 144hz+blur reduction, you also may want to change settings to watch movies) as it takes quite a long time to manually reajust everything or to go to the profile menu in the interface. The price difference doesn't really justify that though, and I'm really happy with my xl2411z.

It really depends on what people are looking for
I personally went for a trio of korean 27 inch 2560x1440s and they're a definite option at that price point, with higher pixel density at the cost of build quality and refresh rate
When in doubt, just believe in yourself and press buttons

I've been looking into getting a 27" korean monitor to use as my main display. I've been looking around for information about the options available for purchase but it seems that most of the information is a couple of years old. Is there a good reference for available models and specs or comparisons between the avaiable offerings?

I'm also waffling between 144hz and 1440p, the extra real estate sounds really sweet and I primarily play dota 2, so having 144 hz isn't necessarily all that beneficial considering my old man hands don't react that fast anyways

Clearly you need the Asus ROG Swift (both 2560x1440 and 144 Hz, also many hundreds of dollars).

No, really, for that I'd just get a 2560x1440 60 Hz affair.

I'd say this is a pretty good starting point:

Awesome thanks. I thought about that one but decided that my monitor shouldn't cost 60% as much as the rest of my rig lol

Anyone have any experience with the ASUS PB278Q? I like the reviews i've read and features, and it's a brand i've heard and seems to be overclockable to 85 hz relatively easily

There are several brands of korean 27s that can sometimes clock up to 120hz but will almost always go up to 96hz

1440p vs 144 hz is a debate that I've been having in my head for a while now, mostly leaning towards 144 Hz but then again I imagine that games like starcraft 2 at 1440p should be fun to play.
